Disney Y.E.S. Program

My kids took Synergy in Science in August. No parting gifts here either. No nametags, and no certificate. A certificate is a piece of printed paper. I would think it would be to their advantage to pass out certificates so the kids could collect different ones throughout the years. Plus, everyone scrapbooks now.

Here's a thought, instead of a certificate........maybe A PIN!!!!! Just for the record, I am NOT an imagineer and came up with this one ALL on my own!

We just got back from the wild by nature class. It was interesting. Frustrating too, I know my daughter loves to talk and jump into conversation and ask questions, but Josh, our leaderjust kept ignoring her. He did try in the beginning to includebher but within an hour, you could see he had enough. They gave out little clips each time we did something right. At the end we counted and they gave a small certificate (5x7) may e to the person who had the most clips. Then took allnthe clips back. My dd13 asked if she could at least keepnher name tag. Was told no, was upset that she received no momentous from this class. I'm pretty disappointed at the lack of " pixie dust" that wasn't spread.
When we took the class they gave out bandanas at the end to all the children. child who had the most clips got a different colored one then the rest. Guess they've cut them out now due to the budget:confused3

We just took the Energy and Waves class last week. Not only was there no parting gift but they took back our name tags. Apparently there is concern that someone could sneak behind the scenes with the name tag. Last year we took the Animation Magic class and the kids got to keep the character (Scorcerer Mickey) that they drew!

Oh and also we asked about mini-golf at Epcot guest services and they said our tickets were good for mini-golf before 4pm. However we never did find the time to go.

Guess you could just settle for the huge discount on tickets for the entire family as your parting gift.

That's EXACTLY what I plan on doing, especially since our YES class is the very first thing we do - the next 5 days are our "souvenir"! :cool1:

We just did the leadership class last week. Excellent, I thought. Lots of good info given. Got to keep our milestones map, but nametags were collected as well. We were also told could mini golf prior to 4pm

I was HAPPY to just get the HUGE discounted savings on my tickets for the family! Wow! I was thrilled! I took pics of my daughter when it was ok.. they do tell you when you can't take pics! We will do the YES program again one day!

Totally agree with this! I thought what they were giving us was a huge discount on tickets and a fun experience for the kids. I mean lets face it, this is not some paid tour we are on here, it's a fun field trip for the kids, that allows us to get tickets at a group discount.

Totally agree!! Really not complaining about "parting gift". I just thought it was funny that they had us give back our name tags.

Both of the classes my DS took were very nice experiences. The discount on admisson tickets is a great added bonus. :thumbsup2 We are already talking about the possibility of doing another class in Jan/Feb.

My youngest got a bandana at the Wild Animal class. He was thrilled since his brothers got bandanas at camp and he was too young to go. He finally had his own bandana.

BUT, we certainly did not expect it and he would have been happy without one.

He loved the class.

First off, I apologize for not reading through all of the posts - my questions may have already been answered!

We are going to DL next June, and would like to sign DD 9 up for a YES class (individual enrollment)... When do they typically release the June class schedule for DL? Is it very difficult to get a spot? We're trying to coordinate using miles for airfare/meeting up with friends, so the type A in me hopes that they release the dates fairly early! :upsidedow

Thanks!

We didn't get fancy nametags for Energy and Waves- just stick on ones.

Are you going to be writing about your trip? I'd love to hear what you thought of the class.

Can anyone tell me if they usually offer classes in early June? I just found out about this program and my kids would love it! Planning a trip the first week in June 2013 and would love to get them in a class :)

If I understand correctly, anyone can do this program? You just have to take one class to get the ticket discount? If my sister and I, 14 and 16, did it, would our parents get the ticket price also?

That is correct.

My son did a class last year and this year and didn't get a "momento" either time. I thought nothing of it, as I consider getting 40% off our tickets as having pixie dust poured on us:thumbsup2 The experience of the class was a bonus.

I don't know, but I find this remark kind of high and mighty and especially rude.... YES, I appreciated the fact that I got a discount... BUT I didn't take the class for the discount only, I took it for my daughter to have another experience. CHILDREN like to receive a little something for their learning or achievement. A PIECE of paper that said she took the class would have been more than enough. I don't understand the attitude, I wasn't looking for A doll or anything of material value.. a piece of paper or even her name tag would have made this class better for my Daughter, who this class was paid for. AND believe me, because of this class I spent alot more on Disney, having just come back from a Disney cruise this last February, this tripped wasn't planned for, but because my daughter is such an animal nut, I thought this would be perfect for her.

But thanks for your opinion, I guess everyone has to have one, or the world would stop spinning.

Booked our campground reservations for next august.with AAA discount :thumbsup2
Now to begin my impatient wait till classes are released :rotfl:

Welcome to the boards! If I am remembering correctly, for the last few years at least, classes have been offered starting in mid June, this year I think it was sometime during the week of June 12th.

I honestly wasn't trying to be a jerk (I am usually pretty good at that without trying), I just thought people were being a little nitpicky about a pretty cool program that I would expect to pay more for, not get a discount for.
