Disney Y.E.S. Program

We were told also that buses start running at 7:00 am. I was asking specifically about AK since that is where our class is. Because of such early ADR's, it doesn't make sense that bus service wouldn't begin until 8:00.

That is great! (not that you were almost late, lol, but that they got there so early) Thanks so much for chiming in! :cool1:

LOL, yeah, definitely not great to be late, although the CMs were nice about it and we weren't the last to arrive. Phew! Needless to say, I have learned that I do not schedule classes after a party night. Going from MNSSHP at night to having to be at the gates at 7:45 the next morning does NOT work for this family! lol :crazy2:

Eek! :faint:

I guess they should inform the drivers when they start work:headache:we went thru alot of anxiety that morning that could have been avoided had I been given correct information.

For some unknown reason, it seems that Disney wants the CMs to say buses start running one hour before park opening. I don't know why. I can't think of any good reason. However, they seem to do things on a regular basis that don't make sense to me lol. I recall reading that CMs were told to tell guests at Epcot "NO" when asked if The Land Pavilion was staying open until 10:00 pm. I think it's now on the times guide (or was, I don't know if it's still open until 10 or not) so I suppose they now answer accurately. :confused3

That just isn't true. I don't know why everyone always says that. It drives me crazy. :upsidedow

We have had an 8:05 Hollywood & Vine ADR before, more than once, and we took the bus (ditto for Tusker House at AK, Crystal Palace at MK, and CRT at MK). If a park has a restaurant open for breakfast ADRs at 8:00 am then the buses will start running by 7:00. We have taken a bus to MK, HS, and AK at 7:00 - 7:15 on days that the parks opened at 9:00 (from Pop Century, AKV, OKW, and POFQ that I recall for certain, probably others as well). You don't have to believe me, lol. Walk out to the bus stop one morning at 7:15 on your next trip and see how many buses stop, going to all the parks. :thumbsup2

If you go over to the transportation board and ask, I'm sure others will tell you the same. :goodvibes

ETA: I didn't mean it isn't true that you asked and were told 8:00, btw. I meant that it isn't true buses start running at 8:00. (Didn't want you to think I was calling you a liar. I'm not. I know the CMs tell people that.)

Thanks. I will ask at check in but I will also look over at the trans board. It sure seems like they would have busses running for the YES classes too.

Has anyone else had problems getting through to YES on the phone? I've called several times today at different times and I keep getting the "leave a message" deal. I don't want to have someone call me back because what I need to talk to them about is a surprise for my son and I don't want him to get suspicious.

I don't have much time for an extensive search on this topic so if it's a repeat, I apologize. We leave tomorrow for 10 days. My daughter is in the Making Waves class Monday 8/27. In the event there is a significant weather event i.e. tropical storm/hurricane Isaac in the zip code will they:

A. Cancel the class
B. Contact us if canceled
C. Penalize us financially if we decide for the safety of our family not to attend if they decide to have it anyway.

I know I should just call, heaven knows we will have plenty of time on our drive from Cincinnati. What number should I try? TIA!!

My guess to the actual question would be that they will contact you on whatever phone number you provided when registering -probably the day before the event. I wouldn't worry too much(although you never know), but this storm is predicted to be a cat 1 and by the time it hits Orlando likely to be a TS. We've been in the parks during a TS so they will stay open if they feel it is safe. If you aren't comfortable and don't go, they will charge you the difference in the ticket prices.

My daughter and her friend just took this class on Monday and they really enjoyed it -they thought their guide/instructor was great and had a lot of fun. Sounds like it was basically a behind the scenes tour of the Living Seas, introducing them to the roles some of the different CM's take on. They got to see a dolphin being examined and got close to the manatees.

I am so depressed now!!
I have been watching every day for the Sep 28 Energy & Waves class to open back up.
My daughter wanted so badly to take that class, and it closed the day before we signed up.

So this morning, I looked at the classes and saw it was OPEN again.
(Someone obviously cancelled.)
My heart jumped, and I got so excited!!!
Then I realized, it was for the younger age group. :(

Please send pixie dust that it will open for us.
Taking that class was going to be DD's birthday surprise.

I called this morning regarding potential class cancelation due to TS and the gentleman I talked to didn't think it would be a problem but in the event they do cancel, they will contact my cell provided. Pretty much what I expected. I will update once there for anyone else who may be affected later in the week. Our class is Making Waves at Epcot on Monday. Thanks for your response!

Yes, just wanted to say that any CM that tells you buses don't run until 8 is just ignorant. We have many times taken a bus to 8:00 breakfast's and one that was at 7:30. We've never had a problem. There will be buses running by 7ish, if not earlier.

Per repeated posts on the Transportation boards, buses start to the parks at 6:30 am everyday, but they will not be as frequent as later in the morning.

Does anyone know if the YES tickets can be picked up at your resort concierge desk if you are staying on property? I had one CM tell me yes, but I am not sure he was correct.

We don't arrive until after the Ticket windows are closed and we don't want to waste time the next morning waiting in line.

Unless something has recently changed, no, you can't pick them up at your resort. I wish, though. ;)

Nope...they are a special class of ticket and the resorts don't have full access to the ticketing system.

It only takes a couple of minutes to get the tickets though.

Thank you. That is a bummer. Do you know if the windows open before the parks. If we were to get there before opening time would we be able to get them then?

They are ABSOLUTELY open before the parks open. At least one ticket or Guest Services window will be open at least 30 minutes before any guest is permitted in to the park - including for early ADRs, tours, etc. For example, on a typical normal 9am opening at MK, the GR window outside the entrance would open by 7:30am (since ADRs typically start at 8:00am).

Thank you!! That is very helpful. At MK do you have to go to the transportation center for pickup or just the main entrance GR?
