Disney Y.E.S. Program

My DN17 is going to take one of the classes. Will she need her ID to check into the class? Or will my Mom need to take hers to sign her in the class? Thanks for any help...

No ID is needed except for whenever you pick up the tickets. Then, only the person picking them up needs an ID.

I had scheduled for DD12 and I to take the Friday 9/7 Properties of Motion class, but due to some scheduling issues, I had to change to the Monday, 9/10 Making Waves with a Marine Career (the class she actually wanted anyway). I just have to say how great Dave is and how top notch their customer service is. He is prompt, courteous and works magic!

Hope some other DISers are going to be in this class. I think that was my main let-down for not taking the PoM class, because I knew DISers were going to be there. lol

Was the Making Waves class showing as "open" on the website? Or did they squeeze you into a closed class?

Can someone tell me what the rules are regarding cameras and photo taking at the Y.E.S. classes?

Thanks!

It was open on the website. I just added a night to our stay to work it out. :)

I took lots of pictures during our classes, although there was one time the instructor made sure to tell us that no pictures were allowed in a certain area.

Sorry I didn't multi-quote this and last post....haven't figured out how to do that on the phone ap. :)

Okay, great thanks. I sort of thought it would be like the tours. You can take photos "on stage" and no photos permitted "backstage".

Before the tour started with our class (Making Waves), we were told we had to lock everything up in a big container that everyone shared. A couple of us parents wanted our cameras out, and the instructor said only if we promised not to take pics in "behind the scenes" areas, which was pretty much the whole tour. So I got maybe 5 total pictures.

For anyone interested in some information about the "Making Waves with a Marine Career", I have some info in my TR on page 9, regarding our experience.

.

Thank you for that detailed review! Your daughter is so pretty! :goodvibes

DD and I have only done one class before, but we weren't given anything either. I also thought it would be nice to have a certificate of some sort to put into her homeschool portfolio, but I guess I probably wouldn't have wanted to carry it around for the rest of the day, trying to keep it from getting messed up, lol. After we got home I printed out the program description and national standards (from the website) and put that in her portfolio.

We are taking Captivating Moments October 26, anybody else? It seems like that class is not very popular. My son is very excited about this class because he is intrested in photography and want's to join the yearbook staff.:) Although he would love to take any of the science courses, they just didn't have any available during out trip.

We're taking it on Oct. 2 -- I will report back! :)

Why did you have to lock all of your stuff up? Do they do this in every class? I haven't heard anyone mention this. I don't like it and I want my bag on my body, lol!

Our class did not have to leave our stuff. I'm going to guess that her class did because they didn't want to risk anything being dropped into the tanks.

I'm hoping that is the case and I bet you're right. I need my "stuff" with me. ;)

We did the Ocean Careers class and yes, the reason you can't carry your stuff is because you are around the tanks and standing above them so they don't want you to lose anything. It wasn't a bog deal. For most classes you can't take photos as you are back stage so there really is no need to carry stuff with you.

I know you are trying to be helpful, but I don't want my bag just so I can have my camera. I have other reasons. :)

Maybe they just do that for any classes that deal with water areas. :confused3

I know what you mean. My DD has asthma and always has to carry an inhaler. She just used it right before we had to leave our stuff, and hoped she didn't need it before we got done.

Is it likely that classes open up if someone cancels? I have both my children registered for 1 class each on sept 26th but would love to add one more. I wish I knew about this program more than one month before our trip, better late than never,
