Disney Y.E.S. Program

I've skimmed through this thread to see if I can find the answer, but with 40 pages it's a little tricky ;)

We are thinking of taking our Girl Guide unit to DisneyWorld and participating in a YES program. I was looking at the ticket options and the maximum days I see is a 5 day ticket...? Is this the most you can get? Or is it possible to get more (we are looking most likely at a week, so a 7 day ticket would probably be most useful)

Thanks for any help!

The Individual Enrollment page offers longer tickets, up to 8 days. The Groups page seems more limited.

I'm confused about that too. My confirmation states the same thing. I'm going July 21 -28. Booked the Animation one (Disney Studios). But I was thinking about coming in a few days earlier now, but it doesn't look like I can pick up my tx until the 21st.

I did the Wild about Nature one 2 years ago and its a lot of walking - fast walking too. I wouldn't recommend this one in the summer (especially in the afternoon) - it was awful hot. We did get to go on Safari without standing in lines (which was fun!) and I saw animals that I didn't even know AK had too (on the walking tour).

Thanks for pointing this out as I was considering this class for August. Now I realize this wouldn't be such a good idea :) Looking at the Epcot choices now.

Before this question gets buried further, I do not believe they will let you through the IG entrance before the park opens if you need to be outside the other entrance. I've seen people turned away before.

This might be a better question for the Transportation board.

One alternative may be to go instead to DHS, and there would be a bus from there to Epcot that takes you to the front. Not sure it it would be early enough though.

We did attend Ocean Discoveries(8:30am) last year at EPCOT. We were staying at BC. I was told we could not go thru IGway by both the YES CM's and the BC CM's. We had a car, so, we drove over. I also, was concern about finding the right buses that early in the morning.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We won't have a car. Our only choices are Ocean Discoveries, which it seems we can't get to easily, and Wild By Nature, which it seems will give us heat stroke, LOL. :rotfl: :rolleyes1

A couple of weeks ago, on Feb 8th, we were allowed to enter EPCOT through the Intl Gateway at 8am to get to the front of the Park for our Segway Tour. They had our names on a checklist.

However, our assigned meeting place for the Tour was Guest Relations, INSIDE the Park. Is the YES Class assigned meeting place OUTSIDE the Park?

I think that is the difference. If you've got an ADR or tour reservation that meets within the park, they will let you in early. But some meet outside the front entrance, which appears to be the case with the Epcot YES classes - they meet at the flagpole out front.

First of all I want to thank the OP for starting and continuing this thread :thumbsup2 I had no idea anything like this ever exsisted at WDW..

My daughter would so love the classes about the animals :cloud9: So now I have been reading all these pages for HOURS. I think I have a pretty good understanding (for the most part) how it all works.. still seems to good to be true as far as the incrediable savings involved :worship:

My main question is with the premium hopper tks, there seems to be some confusion on how many actually days are on the 8 day tkts.. (whether it is 5 or 8 either one is enough for us) Can I use the waterpark tkts on the same day as a park? if so that would be one day used from each catergory correct?

Or do the waterpark tkt have to be used on non park days? is it the same with DQ could we do a WP or park in the am and then do DQ in the pm? Hope I am making sense in my question.

Lastly, just wondering what the expectation from the CMs are for the kids involvement/participation in the class? My daughter is like a sponge when it comes to learning but painfully shy at times especially in new situations.. Just want to know how to best prepare her. We are leaning towards the wild by nature or Ocean's discovery if that makes a difference?

Thanks to anyone taking the time to read this and answer my questions ;)

Now if only Disney would come up with a learning program at sea  :cloud9:

I can't comment on course expectations (we are doing this for the first time this summer), but the tickets work just like regular MYW ticket with the Water Park Fun and More options as far as how the days vs. admissions are done. The "days" on a ticket are for the major parks, and the water park/DQ admissions are independent. You can use as many of the WP/DQ admissions you want in a day, on the same day or a different day than going to a major park. So you could do, say, Magic Kingdom, Typhoon Lagoon, and Disney Quest in a single day, and that would use one major park "day" and two admissions.

We bought 8 day tickets and the description on my receipt says "Premium Package:Eight days' admission to Walt Disney World® Resort Theme Parks, with the opportunity to visit multiple Parks on the same day as many times as you'd like. Eight visits to your choice of Disney's Blizzard Beach Water park, Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park or DisneyQuest® Indoor Interactive Theme Park. "

The main park part of the ticket are based on days;you will have 8 days to go to any of the four major parks you want. You can jump from park to park and it only counts as one day.

The plus part of the ticket is based on entries. You can enter 8 plus parks during your stay. It doesn't matter if you use them on a day you go to a major park or not. If you go to two of the plus parks in one day, you lose two entries, but you could go to one, like Typhoon Lagoon, leave and come back in the afternoon and it would only be one entry.

We just decided on our dates for an August trip and now I see that the class my son wants to take is closed. In fact I don't think there is anything left for his age group that would work for us except the Animation class which he has already done.:sad1: Does anyone remember if they added any classes last summer to the original ones they offered.

My apologies, but I've read through 30 pages and cannot find the answer. I've also read through the FAQs and Overview on the YES Program page.

If I sign children up for the program and we are unable to attend for whatever reason (one of the kids has a pretty weak stomach), what happens? Are our tickets canceled after that morning that we missed, or are we charged the total cost of the tickets without the YES program, or does nothing happen?

I'm not sure whether to sign them up on the chance any of us are sick.

If you go through the registration, it will tell you this:

"Participation in your scheduled Disney Youth Education Series Program is required to utilize the Disney Youth Education Series discounted packages. Disney Youth Group Programs reserves the right to void ticket packages without notice if the student does not attend the scheduled Disney Youth Education Series Program."

So.....if you think your child is likely to be sick enough to miss the class, I'd get tickets some other way. You could be stuck buying regular tickets and they will not refund the money you spent on the YES tickets. Now, I'm sure if you had proof of sickness, like a receipt from Urgent Care, they would probably be understanding, but just to say someone was feeling sick? I don't think so. Also, if there is more than one kid and more than one adult, why would everyone need to miss the class?

We did Wild By Nature last October.:thumbsup2
The Guide certainly encourages participation from all (both children and adults), and as a matter of fact it was REWARDED. However, by no means is it REQUIRED. I would say the class is interesting, educational and fun, regardless of involvement.

Just checked. My son is taking the 'how things move' class on 6/18. We signed up the first day of registration about 3 weeks ago. The class is now closed! Got we didnt wait. :)

Thank you very much just wanted to know how to prepare her, if there was an expectation otherwise she is pretty shy...

Also thank you to the others who answered my tkt question ;)

1 adult, 3 children.

I read the note above while on the YES program site, but it says the ticket packages would be voided if the child does not attend. If you've already used almost all of the tickets, would they charge you for the difference between YES and Disney tickets? Would they let you try to register for another class? I just don't understand how it works if you miss the class or have to cancel the class (but not the trip) after you've paid. I do understand that these are non-refundable - but could you use the tickets up to the day you miss the class, if you have already bought them?

Perhaps this is a question I should be asking them instead. I just know I have a puker (especially when he's nervous).

I would hope that Disney does have some recourse if people schedule a class at the end of their trip and then just don't show up. At the very least, I imagine they will have names on a list and not allow them to sign up for the YES program in the future. I imagine if you call Disney, they would tell you not to sign your kids up if there is a big chance you won't be able to attend.

I know my son's class started late because they were waiting for participants that didn't show. The class went over the allotted time, which was real inconvenience for those of us who were waiting.

And why would your child be puking first thing in the morning just out of the blue? I can see if he was one who got motion sick and it was in the afternoon. And would he puke for hours or something? I guess I'm just confused.:confused3

Did you try registering 2 of the kids separately - with 1 parent each, DCLBride?
That might work for you....

Just wondering about doing this. Is this technically "illegal"? The classes are designed for kids (not adults). So if my DH signs up with a child and I sign up seperately with a child (and all the other parents out there do this too), wouldn't a lot of the slots get filled with parents instead of kids? Would Disney see this and "black list" us for future visits? Could this be why so many classes are getting closed so quickly? I would hate to loose the chance to do the YES program again. It sounds so amazing.

I don't think we are going to take a chance.

Just wondering if anyone ran into problems doing this.

Thank you

Why would he be nervous? The classes are fun!

I doubt very much that another class would be available. They sell out quickly.

I don't know how old your kids are but did you find one that they could all attend? They are strict about not allowing younger siblings to attend.

I trust you have seen a specialist about the puking? Throwing up often enough that you're this worried about it is not normal.
