Disney World Reservation System -POST 1 FOR LINKS

Has anyone seen this..."A Disney spokesperson told CBS MoneyWatch the reservation system had no such glitch. Disney had made the system available Monday first for people with a previous Disney World resort reservation, the spokesperson said. The system will be available for annual pass holders this Friday and for the general public on Sunday.

"People who couldn’t reserve Monday probably thought it was a glitch, but in reality, they were likely trying to book before it was their turn, the spokesperson said. "

The original CBS Moneywatch story appears to be edited, but plenty of Disney news sites are reporting this quote.
😲
I emailed Disney about it yesterday. The spokesperson was outright lying, and it's inexcusable. As inexcusable as their horrifically bad IT.

I'm sorry if this has been discussed. For those who have park passes already booked, have you noticed that the times are different when you click to see reservation details?

For instance, Animal Kingdom's hours are 8am-6pm, and that's what it says when I'm looking at my plans on MDE. But when I click on the reservation details for that Park Pass, it says the arrival window is 9am-7pm.

It's the same for all parks:
Studios hours are 10am-8pm...click reservation details and it says to arrive 11am-9pm.
Epcot hours are 11am-9pm...click reservation details and it says to arrive 12pm-10pm.
MK hours are 9am-7pm...click reservation details and it says to arrive 10am-8pm.

Am I the only one seeing this? I'm sure it's nothing major, but I wondered if I was missing something?

Yes, I’m seeing that as well. No idea why.

I noticed it, too. Our trip is in January. The way I sort of look at it right now is that the odds are high that Disney might change the park hours between now and then, so I'm not going to sweat it until it's about a week away from our trip.

People are guessing it has to do with daylight savings time. The change occurs with trips starting in Nov. Just another IT glitch.

My guess to the time issue, is maybe one is 'server time' and one is 'local'. They could also be using some kind of UTC conversion and the method that they are using, and one method is different than the other. This issue is VERY common for webapps like these.

Correct. I'm a developer and the common practice is to store in UTC and then convert to either a specific or user-based timezone. They've most likely hardcoded in the offset (negative hour difference between Eastern & UTC) instead of varying it off date.

It’s yet more evidence that shows that their software development is some sort of Mickey Mouse operation. 🤣

Thanks for the explanation guys. I figured it was probably something like that, but just wanted to be sure. Whew.

Please remember that IT has NO glitches and that it is user error that we see. They could easily say that our eyes are tired from the numerous tries we had done over the past 4 days. We are not seeing clearly, it is VERY clear on their side!!!!!:badpc::badpc::rotfl2::rotfl2:
Lol...classic...It's not a 'BUG' it's PEBKAC! (Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair)

After 3 hours on the phone to straighten out an annual pass ticketing issue, got all 9 days of our November trip reserved in just a few minutes online.

Sorry if this issue was posted already, but just wanted share my experience with others. I had booked a basic package room only res with dreams and added tickets this week. However the tickets were not showing up in MDE and therefore could not book park reservations. I had to call the IT support line and they had to create duplicate profiles. They said it is common issue that they are working around in case others are having the same issue. We were able to get all of our park reservations after the fix.

I will share I just used the chat feature to resolve one of my two issues. I was not able to book Easter week 2021 park passes, room only reservation (we are AP). It was not linking a December Swan trip and therefore thought I was using my 3 days as AP. She fixed it via the chat option in MDE in about 15 mins. Note- last night I tried using the chat, but got distracted and navigated away and lost my agent. So, stay focused if you start a chat!
So far I haven’t been able to add a ticket for my child who doesn’t have AP with us due to not being 3, but she will be on that trip so needs a ticket. This agent couldn’t help but said they could possibly link her to my park passes in a few weeks when I buy her ticket. Honestly I’m not too worried about that- I will escalate if needed when it comes to that but excited to have resolved the pass issue without dialing and thought I’d share that option here as others have.

Yes, saw it and responded to it on the WDW news site I think it was. Along with lots of other angry customers who told them it was ridiculous. I am shocked that Disney would try to throw its customers under the bus like that. And rather disgusted. It's pretty crummy to say the least.
Adding insult to injury, methinks.

Morning!! Just finished making my park reservations!!! Get in there AP’s!!E8D60CE6-78C5-41F3-A095-BDD369C57DAF.jpeg
