Disney World planning 2,000 unit cartoon-based resort

Is it going to be a value hotel?

I haven't read anything from Disney saying either way, unless I missed some press yesterday.

If you go through the comments people left on the disney blog the guy that wrote the blog answered some of their questions. It was in there that he said that it would be a value resort and that Pop would remain Pop Century. Some people thought that they might retheme Pop to match the new resort but he said NO.

YAY!! I was always hoping they'd do more values - I love the themeing!!!

I always thought they should do a Classic Character hotel!! I cant WAIT to stay there!! When will they start working on it? WHen will they start taking ressies????????:cool1:

it is about time they did something with the hotel, but buses are going to be crowded now... There isn't a single hotel with dedicated bus service. Port orleans shares with each side and is massive. All stars shares with three sections. Wilderness lodge and the fort share, poly and contemp share, all epcot deluxe share. And some of the dedicated ones have massive resort rooms, like saratoga and coronado springs.

but i totally love the new idea. I just wish they didn't use 3 out 4 pixar films. There's a lot of good older films that would've been amazing too.

Older films are nice for Diz nuts like us, but most kids want the ones they selected .. and this will ALL be about the kids. My son will jump out of his skin to stay at a Cars hotel. Ask him about a Jungle Book, Fantasia, Peter Pan, 7 Dwarfs hotel and he'll yawn.

As much as this is exciting - it sounds like another ASmo to me.

I wish they would have stuck with the plans - and had the POP Legendary years.

I'm so anxious to find out how many people can fit in a room and what the cost will be. We will be a family of 6 soon, so that means more expensive rooms or staying offsite once the baby is 3. I may have missed it since I just skimmed, but is it going to be like AllStar Music and have rooms for 4 + infant and then also have suites for larger families (and therefore a larger price)?

With a family that size, I'd be renting a full house from www.homeaway.com. A mini-van rental and the house rental would be much less than Diz rooms, and you could cook, have your own pool, washer/dryer, etc.

If the price difference isn't huge, we really like to stay on site. If we're getting close to saving $500 by staying off site, it's something we really should consider. If it's closer to $1000, it's really a no brainer.

We are a family of 6 and don't do off site for one reason. EMH- we go during busy busy time and that extra hour let's us do what we want to. And the evening ones are fun too.
Although if we ever went during NOT BUSY time we would stay offsite.

Now we can stay at the AA resort :rotfl:

Sorry, since everything seems to be abbreviated that was my first thought. It sounds like this is a very thoughtful addition -- larger families have been pretty left out of value options previously, and this will also give smaller families that would just like more space a great new opportunity.

I agree....or even a pet friendly hotel with Pluto, Goofy...etc theming LOL

I really do wish they'd kept the original POP theme though...POP is our fav and I would have loved to stay at the Legendary Years. Now the Generation Gap bridge makes little sense, nor does hourglass lake, Pop half century LOL

Not to mention they could have chosen more classic popular movies like Toy Story or something....I really just think it's going to be another All Stars Movies though, with more suites. Suites don't interest us since we're a family of 7....oh well, atleast POP might not be as crowded then.

Not sure ho Toy Story is a more classic popular movie than Finding Nemo, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, or Cars. I love Toy Story (and especially love TS2), but I am not sure how to argue that it is remarkably different than Lion King, Mermaid, Nemo, or Cars.

There's already a whole Toy Story section at All-Star Movies.

We are a family of 6 and we NEVER stay off-site. We always get two connecting rooms at a value resort and for the last three trips have been able to get a free dining discount. We usually do 8 nights with 7 day hoppers with 48 Table Service Meals, 48 Counter Service Meals and 48 snacks, all for about $2,900.00, plus we get all of the on-site perks.

You could get that bill lower with homeaway, unless those perks mean that much to you....

Highly doubt we could stay off property and have all meals, including all of the very expensive character meals, included for much cheaper than that, plus get the free parking, free transporation and EMH.

Yes it will work exactly like all star music does now.

I think you easily could, except no EMH. The parking is not free, no .. but at $14 per day would stil add up to less than what you are paying for the Diz perks. Many folks do it, and we do sometimes as well. But some of us have done both and found cheaper to stay off site means more trips, and some of the "perks" you get can be a drag (like waiting 20 min for a bus on a reg basis when you could hop right into your rental van). You could easily get a full house with full kitchen, hot tub, pool, game room, wi-fi, and the works for $600 for a week plus cleaning fee. If you stack some codes on rental cars or use priceline, no problem getting cheap driving.
