Disney World Personal Shopper - BAD TO WORSE

**nevermind***

OP, that is terrible what you are going through. I don't often purchase anything through facebook or anywhere else, but I had thought about it several times.

Thanks for the heads up!

Kelly

I ordered pins from them (one of their other companies) while we were in WDW. I had some that I had ordered for pin trading before our trip from another person, and my kids enjoyed it so much that I wanted to order more.

I ordered them one day, was told that they could be delivered that night (for a higher fee). I sent the money via paypal and was told after she got it she could drop them off the next day (that they were done with deliveries for the day, even though I had sent the money 5 hours before and she 'saw' it on FB). The next day I heard NOTHING from her....I started to question via PM on FB where my pins were, checking the front desk in the am, the afternoon and again at 10:30pm. NOTHING.

I then sent a pm stating I was wondering if they were even coming....she sent a msg that they were dropped off the night before. So I went to the front desk to be told they were dropped off.....that morning (the system makes them log in the time they check something in for a guest). I was more than annoyed since she made me pay a 'rush' fee for something that took over 2 days for her to drop off. And she lied. Had I known it would have taken over 2 days for the pins to come I would not have gotten them (our trip was almost over).

Now that I have read this, I won't be using any of their 'services' again. That's some shady stuff!

Thanks for all the feedback again everyone! My apologies for neglecting this thread for the last week or so...busy life limited my leisure surfing time!

Anyway, rest assured, I am not an attention monger (I've been active here for 13 years and I think my post count is an indicator that I do not seek attention). I'm glad the vast majority of you understand that I'm just trying to get the word out about my experience for whatever worth it has to all of you, my DIS compatriots, in your decision making. I suspect the detractor may be affiliated with these women. Clearly, from all the stories, this is not a one-off scenario or error on their part.

Peg, if I was charge tax, it was included in the price. She just gave me a flat fee of $75 for the bag, which seemed fair given the merchandise I had requested and working in a profit & delivery for them.

For the record, the one I dealt with was Amy Donoho. Her package and the business address both seem to indicate a rental in Champions Gate. I use PayPal so seldom I guess I didn't even notice the "gift" classification. I did readdress the issue with them after the empty package arrived...their automated response indicated it could take 30 days to make a determination (I requested a refund of the delivery & profit margin in light of the delay).

I'm not ruling out contacting the State of Florida. I appreciate you and others who follow the rules Peg. We have an all natural dog biscuit business here in NY and we follow all the copious & pricey rules set for by the Dept. of Agriculture & Markets...makes us crazy when we see people selling similar products that are unregulated! It certainly isn't equitable to others like Betsy who do thing by the book and I think she deserves an even playing field.

One bit of other news I received from someone on a WDW related Facebook group I belong to is that she was involved in a sweepstakes with some travel agents (perhaps the same thing the earlier poster alluded to) and they did not come through on their end of the deal. Apparently there are some very upset TAs on her heels as well.

Thank you again for the support & advice and for understanding I'm just trying to help educate everyone (much like I have been by many here in the past). I'll keep you posted on any developments.

I'd be reporting it to the BBB, the state of Florida and anyone else I could think of that could rain havoc down upon her. Might want to let Disney know that she is using their name in her advertising.

There are a lot of offshoot businesses that have sprung up in that area that follow the rules. She should too. I can't stand cheats.

Wow this "business" is violating so many laws my head is spinning. In addition to everything else people have mentioned, if all the payments are labeled as "gifts" and the "business" is not licensed and not collecting sales tax, I bet they are also not reporting profits as income.

We can add probable tax fraud to the list :(

In the 2008 thread they mentioned not needing to find jobs because they babysit in their home for work--which is a source of income which is often under reported (if at all). The cynical side of me wonders how many years the people have been earning money under the table and not paying taxes (and possibly collecting other benefits as they show minimal income?). I am very rarely that cynical, but based on the clearly unethical behaviour they have shown to customers (insisting things be listed as "gift", sending empty boxes, not responding to messages, etc etc) my mind is going there now.

OP, I am glad you started this thread so that I (and others) know never to order through these people (though, personally, I think being told to designate a payment as a gift would have stopped me from dealing with them anyway).

I Once order from WDW personal shoppers they hiked up the price of the candy twice the amount. And the shipping Was five times the amount it should've been I canceled my order that was three years ago Now I found WDW personal shoppers Disney doorsteps Facebook page. These are wonderful people that don't charge one penny more that Disney charges and their shipping is very reasonable and they do not take a 30% commission on top of everything else. So let's please not mixup the companies. That WDW place sucks WDW personal shopper Disney doorsteps is the best personal shoppers out there

I was not mixing anyone up, no worries. You do not need to repeat the add with my post after posting above.

Can I ask why you leave the apostrophe out of Disney's doorstep on your page? That would seriously drive me nutty enough to not order (because it makes me want to stop looking at the page when it is repeated over and over in eye catching print and font). I know it is petty, but it bugs the heck out of me.

I just looked at the FB page. If you want to be taken seriously, don't have your page full of grammatical and spelling errors.

I just have to ask how they make their money and are profitable if they don't charge commission? Just wondering, nothing more!

:thumbsup2

Though, that is a far sight better than the downright unethical way the company in the OP operates.

I wondered that as well :confused3 Maybe the poster just meant that they take a smaller commission than 30%.

looks like they charge 20%, which isn't bad. I don't have a problem with anyone trying to make a buck or two but what burns me is when they break rules. Selling/delivering food, selling cast exclusive merchandise etc. That's not ok and hurts the companies that do follow the rules.

So glad you told us about the WDE Doorsteps shopper. Been checking them out and they are very helpful and very nice. Answered my questions within minutes. They only charge 20% plus of course shipping whatever that comes to. I am making Easter baskets for my two grandchildren so this is awesome. Thanks for letting me know about them.

Side note: I was shocked how much the Mickey Mouse shaped Rice Krispie treats had gone up since our last trip in 2009. Loved them, but not at that price. Ugh!!!!:faint:

Me too and I just went in December. We didn't buy any though. I am pretty sure they are on the WDW dining plan as a snack credit. Anywhoo...12,95 is that what that tag says?

Afraid so. I can make my own. Just won't be shaped like Mickey.

:thumbsup2

Buy a bunch of Mickey cookie cutters on amazon, and stuff the mixture into those. I'd spray em with Pam first.

Personally, I always thought the ones in Disney tasted stale. I never did like them. For 12.95 you could make several dozens I imagine!

Maybe you PayPal pros can help me out. I went back to look at the invoice after the point was made about items being listed as "gift" to the account holder rather than merchandise.

I don't see anywhere on the invoice that indicates the variety of the merchandise. It just lists "Princess Gift Bag" for the description and has the total with the Service Charge field at zero and no indication of sales tax.

Can anyone help my pea brain determine how she classified it, or is it too late to see/know once I have paid it?

Thank you!

I'm not sure you can tell from your receipt. I bought something earlier today that was classified as goods, but it doesn't show on my receipt. You might get more detail if you log into your Paypal account and check the transaction.
