Disney World MultiPass Scheduling Woes

You can book an additional LL when one expires AFTER you have tapped into your first LL. Until then, it's a max of 3 you can hold.

This means that max of 3 is not correct as the expired ones are technically still in the system. And 'expires' means after the 1 hour block passes, correct? This at least helps me when my girls are at Dance The World as while I won't be able to tap into rides 5 min prior, I can stack after the 60 minutes / expiration date passes. It's better than nothing.

To be honest, the nature of this discussion is why I am reluctant to go to Disney unless I want to splurge on LLPP again. This is a quick budget trip.

I will get a LLSP for Guardians. I will buy a LLMP, but don't want it to turn into a giant headache. I want to ride Test Track, Soarin, Spaceship Earth, Living with Land, and Remy without forcing my husband to rope drop (because I want to make it to closing) or wait in a super long line. I want to wander the world showcase and eat, without backtracking. It will be Jan 3, so I know it will be crowded. We book eight days out, so should be able to get Guardians. Single rider is an okay alternative. I need an obvious plan of attack so I don't stress over booking the LL times at 7 a.m. the day after Christmas!

It shouldn't be this complicated. Is there a clear list of official and unofficial rules somewhere?
Disney is slowly making it more difficult to have advantage over the common folk that just walk into the park. IMHO, if you read for a few hours and learn a few basic rules, you are probably in the top 1-3%. It's clear I am more in the 2% rather than the 1% of the folks in here. For me, it's:

1) Modify is still #1 way
2) Use 5 minute rule to get another LL ASAP
3) Set timer for 60 minute mark to book expired LL
4) Utilize burners whenever possible
5) Do zig zag
6) Book ASAP while respecting zig zag

No, this is wrong (unless you forgot to include the word “or” between “expires” and “AFTER”). You can book an additional LL after the first one expires. It doesn’t matter if you have tapped into anything yet or not. Tier restrictions are still in place, and it has to be in the same park, but you can definitely grab another one. I frequently stroll into the parks after my first LL has expired and have no problem grabbing another one before the first tap.

I don’t agree with #5. One of the keys to successful touring, especially in the evening, is understanding the crowd patterns and knowing when to zig when everyone else zags.

THIS. The other beauty is just having the LL's booked where I can forgo not even using them if I wanted to and save them for later. For example, if I arrive at my 10AM TT and the line is dead, I am NOT using my LL and going to use it later in the day when the lines get bigger. There's a total 3 hour rule but CMs are not enforcing it even if I use that LL at 6PM.
Hi...My question is...If you have a LLMP for TT at 10 :00 and you get there at the ride and it's dead....Don't you have to scan your magic band which in turn uses the LLMP? I guess you need to modify the LLMP? I'm really confused about this part.

Can anybody explain what happens if you have a LLMP for a ride but there isn't a wait. Do you modify it?

When you scan your magic band, what happens to the LLMP you booked for that exact time?

Thanks for any advice.

I updated my post - you cannot book additional LL reservation after your first expires. You need to tap into your first LL to open the option of booking more.

This is wrong. If you would like me to provide screenshots when I do this for my trip in two weeks I can. You absolutely can book a 4th lightning lane after the first one expires, regardless of whether you’ve tapped in or not. Again, I do this all the time*.

The only restriction is that tier restrictions are still in place. This means that if your first fastpass was a tier 2, you’ll only be able to grab another tier 2 since you can only have 1 “active” tier 1 fastpass at a time until you’ve tapped into a LL.

*Also, this functionality makes logical sense as well. This rule exists for a reason. What if something happened and you were 6 hours late into the park? All of your LLMP’s have expired. If you were correct, that would mean that you could not get any more LLMP’s for the rest of the day, because you could never “tap into” a LL to be able to select more.

Any time you go through the Lightning Lane, you have to have a pass and use it. They won’t ever just let you through the Lightning Lane just because there’s no wait. Use the standby if you don’t want to use your LLMP.

Depends, if it’s a ride I love I ride standby 1st then ride a second time with my LLMP right after.

If I don’t love that ride I ride standby and modify for a different ride or move that ride to a later time if I like the ride but don’t want 2 in a row,

I’m a little lost. Is the return window more of a suggestion then a hard and fast rule? I have hustled my butt off to make a return time, thinking they actually enforced it.

The grace period is currently 5 minutes before and 119 minutes after the 1-hour return window. Beyond that, I still haven't seen a verifiable case where a guest was turned away from a multi-pass attraction even after the end of the grace period.

Just don't show up more than 5 minutes early and block the entrance waiting for your window to open.

Ack. Typo on my behalf. Yes, zig zag but my comments were more on try not to walk back and forth across the park if you can help it. I often will bunch passes together even IF something is earlier as I can waste precious time just walking back-n-forth.

Same approach. Why gain 15 min now if I can gain 30-45 later.

You are not required to scan your MB to ride. You can walk into the standby line where nothing is scanned instead of the LL line. Both lines are distinctly labeled at the attraction entrance.
