Disney World here we come

We are down to 9 days until our DW vacation begins and can not wait it's our first time there as a family... I was there as a 12yr. old back in 82 and I think the newest thing then was Epcot but never got to see it only went to MK. My wife and daughter have never been there and its also their first time flying. This will be an adventure for all of us. We are flying from BWI on Southwest and are staying at POR from the 1st to the 8th of May. With advice from friends we have planned each day around the majic hours and have all our dinner reservations reserved.

Does anybody have any advice or ideas for us about anything for us being first timers?? Like packing what to bring , anything at Orlando Airport, Theme parks to the hotels?? Anything will be greatly appreciated.

If you chew gum, bring it with you- they don't sell it at WDW or at the airport!

There are some great "what to pack for the parks" threads on the Theme Parks and Families boards- just do a search and you'll get more than you ever wanted to know!

We will also be there from 4/30 to 5/7. We are Disney addicts. What ages are your kids??

1. Comfy shoes
2. Sunscreen
3. Hats
4. Hand Sanitizer/Wipes
5. Little hand held games for the kids if young, Disney coloring books
6. Camera with lots of memory

Enjoy POR. Our favorite is POFQ but this trip is just my DH & I for our 25th anniv. so we will be at Beach Club.

When we fly, we always buy a bottle of water, for each person, at the gate area. I just prefer the bottled water to the water you get on the plane. I also like to have my own snacks with me. I also pack a change of clothes in my carryon bag....a change for each person in their own bag. Any entertainment materials (books, iPods, etc) go into the carryon as well.
Same with my camera equipment....actually, any electronics.
Try not to pack everything you own in your carryon bags though..gets tiresome lugging it around.
Once you get to WDW, get yourself familiarized with the buses, boats, and monorails. They are easy to figure out. The buses will be well marked.
You are going to have a terrific time.
Any questions about how to get from one place to another?? Just ask. It's sometimes hard to figure out how to get to an ADR if it's at a resort.

Great responses so far! Just though I might add to bring some rain ponchos in case those afternoon storms should pop up. Remember if they do happen, they are usually short and many people leave the park, so stay! Have an awesome trip!
