Disney World and the War in Iraq

This is truly the most uplifting posts I've ever read on here. Free people of the world refusing to live in terror. Its why we always prevail in wars, freedom means everything and we refuse to surrender it. Give me liberty or give me death. It does have a meaning doesn't it? So lets all thumb our noses at terrorists and let's go to Disneyworld and enjoy our God given gift, Freedom!

wE TOO WILL NOT CANCEL OUR EARLY MAY TRIP. HOWEVER I AM VERY NERVOUS ABOUT THE PLANE TRIP. BUT, I WILL ALSO SAY I AM A WHITE NUCKLE FLYER ANYWAY.

Do what I do - I have a bloody mary and then start reading the People magazines I've been saving for the trip. You won't be looped or anything, in case of emergency, but everything seems just a tad less scary;) . And when you start reading about the silliness of Madonna or Brad Pitt, you'll forget where you are.

I'm saving my People magazines for my May trip. It would take an actual shut down of WDW to keep me from going!:D

I'd like everyone to reconsider and cancel their plans. I'd like the crowds to be as small as possible next week when I'm there! :)

I hope Disney doesn't cancel E-Ticket night next Friday. The E-Ticket night earlier this month was reported cancelled.

We will be there also from May 5-10...nothing will stop us. If for some reason we choose not to fly, we'll drive!! I agree with all the other posters who say we cannot live in fear. Now I'm not sure if Our President is suffering from Mad Cowboy disease, or if he really knows what he is doing, but one thing I do know is that all those courageous men and women of our armed forces need our support and prayers for a safe return as soon as possible.

One thing that does bother me though...why didn't Mike Wallace take out that piece of crap Hussein when he had the chance!!

You gotta keep living.

I am hoping that the war will be won, or close to being won by the time I get there, end of April, but if it isn't, then I'll just do my best to make the most of it.

I refuse to live in fear of cowards.

There's no way I'd cancel. I'll need some time in a place where I can forget about the awful things the president is doing in our names, and there's no better escape than Disney.

I only hope that the number of lives destroyed by this, American, British, and Iraqi, is not great.

DH and I are leaving Friday night. We are a little nervous but also looking forward to the trip. :Pinkbounc

We have a trip planned for the end of April. I highly doubt we will cancel. It is going to take major devestation, and then we may have to. DS is 10 and Iraq and war are regular words in his vocabulary (we really avoid watching the news w/ him around too). They have touched on the current events in school.

We were there last month the day after they had raised the threat level. I had family members ask me not to go, but we went on with our lives.

I commend everyone going in the next week. Straight-forward I think the next week is going to be very nerve wracking. I will be honest and say I do not know that I could leave home for a trip this Thursday/Friday, knowing that things will be commencing at any time.

I do know that when we go in April/May we will still read the paper while at Disney. I want to absorb all the magic, but I want to be aware of what is going on around me.

We are going in August - no matter what. No terrorist or war is stopping us from going to the most magical place on Earth. We need the escape now more than ever. :D I am especially grateful for our military for risking their lives to protect our freedom to go to Walt Disney World, among other things. :D

Are you kidding me???? My reaction to being denied this trip that I have put my heart and soul into planning would be far worse than any terrorist attack! :jester:

Anyway, I will be with the three most important people in my life having the most wonderful, magical vacation. If anything should happen, I couldn't begin to imagine anywhere else I'd rather be.

Nice try, rupprath... But you're still gonna have to stand behind me in line for the Tower of Terror next week! :smooth:

Kungaloosh!

I know these times will be uncertain, but it's been like that for some time now.

We were on orange alert when we went last month and I was nervous prior to our trip. Once we arrived though, I didn't turn the tv on any news channel at all and I felt so relaxed. And my worries just melted away. That was probably just what I needed, that trip to WDW!

And, we'll be there again in May and August and I'm really looking forward to both trips. We're ever so lucky to live less than 3 hrs away!

We will be there in June - doing the cruise and a stay at WDW. No, I won't cancel our vacation unless we are made to. And it will have to be something really serious!

And I don't want anyone else to cancel either. There's more than enough room.;)

There's no way I'd cancel. I think that when the war to liberate Iraq succeeds I will need a place where I can forget about the awful things we find out that Sadaam has done to his people, and there's no better escape than Disney.

I do hope that that the number of lives destroyed by this, American, British, and Iraqi, is not great and that Sadaam does not use the weapons of mass destruction that he has.

I would never cancel my trip.

Let's keep this discussion to whether or not anyone plans to cancel their trip or continue with their plans for vacation.

Please do not make this a political discussion, whether for or against the war or the president of the United States, or I will lock this thread.

all packed and departure is set for 11:30 tomorrow with arrival at MCO at 2:30-2:45!!!!

looking forward to WDW!!!!!!!!!!

40 days and counting and we will be at WDW! We also went 30 days after the 9/11 tragedy and wasn't scared at all. We would never cancel a trip for something like a war or terrorism. Why sit home and be miserable when you could be having a great time at WDW!!!!:Pinkbounc

I will never cancel. Airline tickets are bought, deposits made on Disney hotels (Poly, Lagoon view, July 4th) Priceline hotels paid for upfront. We will be gone for 2 weeks June/July and I have always wanted to be at WDW on the 4th of July. We decided earlier this year to fly since we were not sure what gas prices would be by summer.
