Between less federal funding and less state funding each year, there are only two real options, cut services or raise local taxes.

Our genius Governor wants to cut state government completely. Says there is not a need for it. He wants to lower state income taxes and taxes for business. Has to cut the budget to do so. I am sure you will be amazed when I tell you what he cut first (can you hear sarcasm over the internet?) EDUCATION! I know why my property taxes are going up. The state is giving less and less to education. Funny but my income taxes haven't gone down :confused3 I can not wait to vote this joker out of office.

....Ohhh.. Lisa.. someone in my time zone, yay :)
Indiana went to Daylight Savings time this year. Big ISSUE out here because they said the cows would not understand :confused3 cows? :confused3 What's the issue, milk them when they are ready to be milked. (Keep in mind I am not a farm girl)

I lived my whole life with Daylight Saving's Time except for the first year I lived in Indy. I don't see the problem but you have to be VERY CAREFUL who you say that to. :rotfl2:

Parts of the state went to Central time with Illinois because their economy is tied so closely and people work over the state line, but the rest of us are Eastern and on Daylight Savings time........

All this to say--
Lisa, Piecey, Tae Ja and Jan are all on the same time zone. :Pinkbounc

I feel like a zombie! Some of you are already up! You know who I'm posting to. Its too bright :3dglasses

Patsy you're right, there's a big difference on the DCL show. So much of it has changed. They need a new one featuring, well, the new features!

Sleeping Beauty. D'oh, now I get it! Oh man, I was up wayyy to late.

Jan, how 'bout I trade you for a fruit salad. :)

Yes, there's a shower on CC. The advice has been, if there are sea lice, rinse off quickly, change, and rinse/wash your swimsuit. I tried looking for articles regarding sea lice and again due to tiredness didn't find one. I was in the zone (here).

Ohhh Kerry, a new camera what'd you get? My local schools are messed up too. They have to pay for their own books and supplies and that's still not enough. Will I have to buy/rent my own kids desk and chairs so they'll have a set? Its rediculous what our tax money goes toward. Here there's a state museum that's not completed they need millions more to finish it. This state spent over 59M for a highschool to make it pretty. Who knows how much $$$ actually went toward education. GGgggrrrrr!. Bill your right, I'm moving on now too. :furious:

Can't wait to cruise.

Kerry, an animated family picture would be fine. Look how hot I turned out, no post baby flab! :rolleyes1

DCL is on RIGHT NOW!!!
Do you have to have the travel channel to see that program? We have basic cable so no fancy channels.

Is it different than the video they send when you ask for the travel planning kit?

Jan :earsgirl:

Tae Ja is?
Where does she live again?

The only real experience I had with time zones was duh! Europe and when I lived in Kentucky.. there was a town that was in both.. talk about confusing..

We pay for our own supplies in WV, too.
There are three public high schools in my county.. the two I didn't go to are huge. Their graduating classes were the size of my high school.. maybe even bigger.
The community I live in (and the district that feeds my old high school) is a lot smaller.. a lot more opinionated.. and seemingly a lot more $$ flows around these parts.

They tried to consolidate our county and build one HUGE new school because only one of the three schools is actually still in decent condition (and it's in four seperate buildings so the WV winters are killer) ... but people vetoed it because of how huge it'd be.. (Graduating classes of close to 1200 kids...)
So then they tried to build a new high school for my town.. and the vetoed that, too!
...yet.. mysteriously.. A new track was built and we got all new bleachers when our football team made it to state..

Nevermind that you could walk down the hallways and have a piece of the roof fall off and hit you on the head.. or suddenly get a shower from a random leak..
Bleachers for people to come see the football team are MUCH more important!!
(We also ran out of desks.. and people were actually sitting on the floor for class... I got in trouble here a bit because I just stopped going to those classes.. hehe)

Sometimes I'd really like to know where the $$ goes.. especially because I work so much.. thats my tax money!! I don't get it all back anymore, my income is too high.. :(

Did anyone get the email today from WDW with the screen saver? I'm loving it! If you haven't received it and you want it, PM me your email address and I will forward it. :woohoo:
Tell us what it is. :cool1:

Sleeping Beauty--there were businesses and utilities in Indiana that had several clocks because clients and customers lived in any of 4 or 5 time zones. It was amazing. Our DS#2 said it was INDIANA AMBIVALENT TIME because parts of the state did not change their clocks ever. Now I wonder if it was INDIANA COW TIME. But the cows in New York and Pennsylvania always did OK. Never heard anyone complain there. Here I hear people complain that the kids stay up too late and outside so they cannot go to sleep when they need to so that they can get up for work in the morning. Some in every area have to get white noise machines. But, of course, there are those who are only happy when they have something to complain about.

Jan :earsgirl:

Not sure, I just ordered myself a new planning kit (never know when I need to loan it out). I'll have to watch it and see. It probably goes into more detail. Any one else?

It was nice to not have to worry about changing clocks for almost 12 years. It doesn't get dark here until 10pm now. How is that helping the kids to get to sleep? Fireworks at almost 10:30pm on 4th of july. Restaurants close earlier. Our man Mitch was hoping this would help our economy and our state, but who wants to stay up late doing it? :rolleyes1 No :stir: , its too early.

It is an insulin thing. My body seems to release too much whenever I eat any kind of carbohydrate--fruit has natural sugar, that does it to me too.

Apparently my body releases too much insulin to deal with the refined or natural sugar in the food I have just eaten. The excess insulin sends a signal to my brain that I am HUNGRY :confused3 and I crave carbs since it is insulin triggering it so I eat more carbs and produce even more insulin--cannot just use up what is there, crazy body,

So

the solution that works for me is to avoid the carbs. I will get myself some nice omlets and salads and be fine. It's not a problem.

All I needed was the recognition on the DIS that I won the
:cool1: HOW MANY PAGES :surfweb: DO YOU HAVE OPEN AT THE SAME TIME CONTEST :Pinkbounc
and I am fine.

My kids never went to bed until 10 or 11 anyway. Then they slept until 9 and we started our day then. During the school year they had to get up early so we let them run the summer on their own timeclocks which, I guess, coincided with Daylight Saving's Time. I never thought it was a problem. They were not outside whooping it up past 9 however.

On the news I heard that restaurants are staying open later and getting more business. Also that some companies that are located in other states appreciate knowing what time is really is in Indiana so they make their calls at the right time. We are hearing about new businesses opening here--I guess time will tell. For me it is not a problem, it's normal.
Jan :earsgirl:

Wow.. that is crazy. I can't imagine.
I'd look around the room and be like "AHHHHHHHHHH WHERE AM I?!?!?!"

Insomniacs (supposedly) aren't supposed to have clocks around them. Makes us too anxious, I guess, about the fact that we're not sleeping. Soo.. that many clocks just might give me a heartattack

That's why they had to have the clocks, so they knew what time it was when they called those customers or vice versa.

No clocks in the bedroom or none in the whole house?
Does caffeine consumption make any difference?

 Hi! That would be me. I just got my digital camera and have no idea how to use it. So it will be right before the cruise before I post a pic cause it will take me that long to figure it all out. :rotfl2: I am electronics challenged

We just ordered a DVD Camcorder (our Anniversary present to each other).
Played around with it last night..pretty neat, very small.. but works great.
You record on the disk and the pop it right into your DVD player....
My wife is always yelling at me for taking too many pictures on vacation..
I need to get a backup battery and some more disks for the trip...

That sounds nice. I want a small one to travel with. Right into the DVD player now that's what I'm talking about.

To all of the ladies here:
I fully realize that I am still on the hook for "more" although the gift(previous post) was meant for both of us ( I actually listened to my wife one year when she said she did not want anything) :scared1:

If I can find a sitter, we are going to nice buffet in Atlantic City at the Tropicana, play some slots, and then have a few drinks at the beach bar...

I have a DVD Camcorder that I have had trouble with since I bought it. I get a lot of corrupt disc errors. At first I thought it was the discs but I am starting to think it's the camcorder. I really need to take it in and have it looked at. It's not old (but probably out of warranty with my luck) and it's barely used. The discs are costly, especially when you think they're corrupt and start a new one over and over. I have been using my digiital camera lately, it does sound and movies as well but I have this great camcorder, I really need to get it checked out. :sad2:

Thanks for the reminder!
