I am trying to get caught up and am MANY PAGES behind. You have been BUSY for a Saturday! :)

But, I am striking a blow for dressy shoes and voting for COMFORT. :thumbsup2 I had the same diagnosis as DAWN and TALK ABOUT PAIN--I will take surgical recovery over plantar fasciitis any day!

My podiatrist said to find shoes in the right width and with SOFT soles. I found some Mary Jane style shoes with a wedgie heel that I could and do walk in all over downtown Indy :cool1: DANSCO is the brand. EXPENSIVE but WELL WORTH THE INVESTMENT. A little powder in the shoe and I can go barefoot in them. They go well with nylons or (with long skirts) knee highs.
He also approved TEVAS and but NOT Dr. Sholls sandals--the wooden sole is TOO HARD.
He is big on NEW BALANCE sneakers as THEY COME IN WIDTHS also but stressed I should buy soft soled ones, like cross trainers or walkers NOT tennis shoes as they have HARD soles. He said to try them on and walk in them a lot in the store to be sure the sole is squishy.

SO--bottom line--no dressy shoes on this cruise for me--I may only bring two pair of tevas and no sneakers even--black tevas for dinner and multi color black-blue-purple for day and pirate night pirate: .

Good info! Thanks. :thumbsup2

Did the auction close?

It's got 10 more hours.....but I think I set my max at $30

I just assumed they were as expensive as the other Tevas I'd seen, should have done my research first! Ah well. It's at $20 right now, maybe I'll be lucky and no one else will bid. Or maybe someone will be sillier than me?

maybe you'll get outbid!

I have. It hurts, but it's over pretty quickly and it is wonderful not to have to shave. Sadly, mine grew back in 2 weeks even though they said I would be good for a month. Stupid metabolism.
What about using something like Veet?

Just check teva.com and make sure I am talking about the same one's.

You are - I checked. They don't have that color on teva.com anymore, so maybe I can justify paying more for a "limited edition"?

:rotfl:

I don't know about veet - never tried it. I did try to wax at home, once. :scared1: It was NOT GOOD.

I'm on "snack patrol" for our Saturday night board game - off to the 7-11 to fulfill all of the orders! But I will be back. Oh yes. I will be back.

Don't tell your mom, Lisa, but I did a google search for Royal Caribbean and woman missing, and I found more than I expected...frankly, it's giving me chills, and I'm so glad I'm not cruising with them!

I have read all the stories on this link as well as the ones about the Florida lady who is missing this week. Seems like being ALONE and DRUNK are two contributors to each case.

Lesson here--don't live to drink as you may die by it
and take your buddy everywhere you go.

Doesn't that fit in with the philosophy in that book: ALL I REALLY NEED TO KNOW I LEARNED IN KINDERGARTEN ??

I love the new avatar--that Cooper Mini, Mickey and a PARROT???
You were in a concert? or went to a concert? How did it go?
Best wishes on the marathon.

We're about 3 hours from WDW. We have Seasonal Passes and try to get up there as much as possible. My SIL moved from IL to WDW and is a castmember at the MK.
I do SO want to do that. I would even be on litter-pick-up detail--wear the white jumpsuit and the whole bit. I tell people that when I grow up I am going to work at Disney World. Especially the teenagers LOOK at me funny since I am 57, they think I AM grown up :confused3 Go figure!
I would do :laundy:for the CMs costumes.
or:drive:a bus
or :artist: scenery
I could even sell popcorn::
On evals I tell WDW that the Fairy God Mother and other "older" "heavier" characters should be cast by people who fit the demographic, not a young kid in a fat suit--skinny legs hanging out of a plump costume do not cut it. They are getting better at it but I could try something like that perhaps. (who said that??me?? the one who is on the edge of embarrassed in a pirate costume???)
DH would like to :sail: pilot the small boats on BAY LAKE

Oh, I have a question too. Sorry for asking this again, but the last time I posted it no one was 100 percent sure of the answer, so I will ask again.

Are the pools on the ship open 24 hours?

thanks!
In case no one answered,
Nope--drained and cleaned at night. covered with a net to prevent fall-ins I guess.

I'm back! Hope all was well while I was away. We had a great time! DD's first time on the ice was a huge success. You'd think she'd been skating for years. She had a blast and now wants to have her next birthday party there. (This, will of course change 100 times before her birthday in MAY! :rotfl2: )

And now, to play catch up :goodvibes

I'll definately have to look into getting a pair. I'd rather wear flip flops than tennis shoes. My dh thinks I'm crazy for wearing flip flops to DL.
Flip flops are the way to go! :woohoo:

zweihund said:
Ok, I am bidding RIGHT NOW. *fingers crossed*
Good luck on the bidding. If you REALLY want them, bid high! My best eBay tip is to wait until the last possible second and bid as high as you can actually stand to go, and hope for the best. I've won many an auction this way...and also been beat out by others doing the same thing. :teeth:

Are you kidding me? I need to LEAVE so that I can work at the Renaissance Festival tomorrow (we stay overnight on site) and I'm terrified of what I'll come back to. I haven't caught up for TWO DAYS. Tae Ja, I'm hereby invoking a gag order--no more posts! Let's see, who else is included? Lisa, definitely...aw, heck, you know who you are! No more posts until I catch up!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
As my DARLING DD would say, "you're not the boss of me, I can talk if I want to!" :rotfl: :lmao: :teeth: :rotfl2:

I totally agree about the being alone & drunk theory. When my mom freaked out and and told me to tell the kids to STAY AWAY FROM THE RAILINGS, I asked her, how many KIDS she has heard about going overboard? None, it's all drunken idiots! Honestly! I'm sure this recent one with the local Florida girl has a story behind it too. Whether or not it comes out to the public is a something to be seen.

taeja71 said:
I know we've talked about it before, but I just don't feel like shaving on vacation.I hate carring things that my kids can really injure themselves with.
As for shaving, I've never done the wax thing. I think I'd have an attack letting it all grow out long enough to have it waxed in the first place. I am all about shaving! I guess I'm lucky though, we're always at the beach and I never have any problems as far as shaving and stinging. Phew thank goodness! :woohoo:

My SIL always wanted to, as well. She's thrilled to be there in spite of the lousy pay, long hours and sometimes nasty weather & guests who get in her face.

You have me intrigued! I really like this style flip flop and want to buy a pair but I can't decide on the color. The ones on the Teva site are all so cute! I wish they had the color available online that you're bidding on, it looks nice & neutral. I may have to go with black.... I don' t know....

Did you try looking at sport chalet or zappos? They are all over. I don't know about that color but give it a shot.
