Disney Wonder Sept 3-7,2006 Part 2

Lisa and Erica~ just popped in to make sure you are both safe and haven't floated away with Fay.:goodvibes What a strange storm huh? Have you guys seen any of the alligators and snakes that are "relocating"? We actually leave for Orlando tomorrow and board the Wonder on Sunday for our double dip cruise. The ship left out of fort Lauderdale yesterday but at this point is still scheduled to return to port canaveral on Sunday. I am excited for our trip but it won't be the same without all of you for sure:grouphug: We don't get back home till next Sunday so Vicki have a "magic"al time on your cruise too:banana:

Lisa~ extra hugs:hug:

Hi Suz!!! :yay: Have a great time on your cruise and take LOTS of pictures! I'm sure you'll have an absolute blast!!

Luckily, we have no standing water in our immediate area so no gators floating by for us (THANK GOODNESS)!! We did have a reporter on the news last Tuesday complain that the fire ants were searching for dry land and some ended up in her boots when she was standing in high waters! :eek: :eek: Erica what about you?

OMG fire ants in her boots:eek: I guess I would rather see fire ants than gators or snakes though!! I am glad you are staying dry and I hope this thing keeps moving west and doesn't decide to come back!!

I somehow missed this earlier.. but I can emphasize with you! My right leg, below the knee, got TWENTY bug bites the night Tom and I spent in Cocoa Beach.

I do not have a bite anywhere else on my body but the lower half of my right left. It's driving me batty! :headache: :eek: :scared1:

I had that happen to me too Patsy!! It was when I was in Australia...I've never really been bitten by mosquitoes til there!! We were up in the rainforest and one must have gotten into my pajamas cause the only bites I had were allll in the same spot on my lower left leg. Needless to say I scratched the crap out of that area...:rolleyes:

Aww, my niece has that. I don't think it's too bad, but I'm sure it's a pain not matter what.
And MAN! If I itch, I scratch. I can't STAND itching. So I tend to over-scratch.:rolleyes1

Thanks!!!:goodvibes I'm pretty excited...I've only been out that way twice so it's still an extra-special experience when we make it out there.princess:

Have fun in D.C., T! Definitely go to the ZOO! I love it...and plus...baby panda!! (Ok, ok so he's like 2 years old now, but still cute!!):goodvibes

:teacher: I'll have to add the zoo to the list of things to try and do. I'm thinking of training the kids for all the walking were going to be doing. :sad2:

Any one have suggestion for food? Restaurants, holes in the walls? I know my dh would like to have a good hogie.

I'm doing well also Suzanne, thanks for asking. We're ready for the rain to stop but so far it isn't really letting up. This area didn't get too much flooding but many friends and coworkers have portions of their homes or streets under water :eek:

Have fun on your cruise! Weather should be looking up at bit after the weekend :thumbsup2

Rink got sprayed by a skunk tonight.. and despite the tomato juice bath (which left him pink) he's still stinky.

Anyone else have any clues or ideas on what to do? haha. poor Rinkie.

Also- Tom FINALLY received the paperwork back from the VA that we were waiting on to begin the mortgage paperwork with the bank. Woohoo! :yay: :cool1: :dance3:
We're going to call the realtor and see the bi-color house next week! :lmao:

OH poor Rink :guilty:

OH poor Rink :guilty:

Yeah.. with his fur, the poor little guy has been confined to the kitchen (laminate flooring) because everything he touches turns pink!

It took 3 baths of tomato juice, a special bath of baking soda conditioner and another complete can of tomato juice on just his head to get rid of the majority of the smell.. and by the end, he wasn't cooperating with letting us rinse it out, so he smells like stew and he's pink! :rotfl:

Patsy, maybe you can change his name to PINK !!
Sorry, couldn't resist! :lmao:

Poor Rink!! Found these:

Peroxide/baking soda bath

How to Get Rid of Skunk Smell

This is currently the most effective de-skunking bath, but the peroxide can potentially bleach your animals fur. Lemon juice or white vinegar can be substituted for the peroxide, but they don’t work as well.

In the bathtub or a bucket, mix together:

* 1 gallon water
* 1 quart hydrogen peroxide ~3% solution
* 1 cup baking soda
* 1 good squirt of hand or dish soap

The mixture will fizz. Use a sponge and lather it into the fur/skin taking care to avoid the ears and eyes. Let it sit for 10 minutes, rinse and repeat.
Orange bath

Blend 5-10 oranges in a blender, mix with a little soap and lather up with the resulting liquid. Let it sit for 10 minutes, rinse, then wash with regular shampoo.
Soda bath

Some people swear by bathing their animals in soda. We’ve heard of people using sprite and coke but haven’t yet tested it ourselves. Work the soda into the fur, rinse and then wash with regular shampoo. Repeat as needed and let us know how this one works.
Commercial skunk smell removers

Of all the commercially available skunk odor removers, Nature’s Miracle always seems to get the most praise. Find it in your local pet store.

I've used Nature's Miracle brand odor remover for cat smells, and it's worked very well for me. Didn't Mythbusters do an episode on skunk smell? Did anyone see it and remember it?

ETA: I found a website with cliff notes on the episodes...here's what it said:

"Removing skunk odor with...:
Tomato juice: plausible
Beer (MGD): busted
Douche: busted
Hydrogen peroxide + baking soda + liquid dish soap: confirmed
Commercial skunk remover: confirmed (not as good as custom mix above) "

So there you have it!
