Disney Wonder Sept 3-7,2006 Part 2

Yup, it's all about doing whatever works to get you through....

:grouphug:

I made them a pizza... so at least I feel like I'm a little useful!

Get to drive out to the sticks tomorrow to meet with the funeral director.

I keep thinking that Tom is too young to be burying his father. It makes me want to try harder with my parents.

Well, there is possibly good amongst the bad.

We knew we'd be sweating a mortgage with tom's VA income being so hard to prove, but we're about 99% sure that the phone call he just received from the Department of the Treasury to fill out a "Declaration of Employment" means he GOT THE JOB!
He's a Vet, so their "Hire Vets First" policy was always in our favor, and he's disabled (10 pt Veteran), which means he's to be hired over just a regular (5pt Veteran) and we're hoping after we fax this and call her back we'll get the news we were hoping for!!!!
Not to mention my job offer is to be coming through sometime today from a recruiter in Columbus, OH..

We're very excited. It was definitely a wonderful phone call to receive after making the arrangements at the funeral home..

Can you tell I'm excited?? This means WE CAN GET OUR HOUSE NO PROBLEM!! (If it's really what we think it is..)

Great to hear things are working out for you, Patsy!!:cool1: :thumbsup2

Well, they sure went to crap real quickly.

Tom's brother is throwing a FIT. He's not eligible to be an executor of the estate because he can't post bond. He can't buy bond because he his credit is HORRIBLE. He admits as much, but he's threatened to take Tom (the only other heir) to court to avoid him "taking anything because he didnt love their dad enough"

It's ridiculous. We've offered to give him EVERYTHING he wants, but he thinks that Tom is stepping in where "He doesnt have a right because he didnt visit enough."
It's messed up.
The property their dad lived on is actually equally titled to Joe and Tom with their dad only having living rights on it. We're going to a lawyer tomorrow with the deed to just give it to Joe. I don't trust Joe to keep up on the insurance and I flat out told Tom I wasn't comfortable with the thought of his name being tied to a piece of land that we all know won't be *legally* taken care of correctly (I don't want anyone coming after us because liability insurance wasn't paid, I told tom if he wanted to keep his half of it we would carry an insurance policy on it just to be sure!). Tom doesn't want it anyway so we're hoping signing it over to him will be a gesture of good faith and Joe will just let Tom handle the estate and go on with our lives.

Dang Patsy! I'm sorry! :sad1:

Thanks.

Sadly, the only thing on my mind right now is anger at the dang bug that decided it would be a good idea to bite my little toe!

Stupid little toe itches like CRAZY.
I hate going out to the sticks. :scared:

yikes! How stinky.:guilty: I hope the olive branch works.

We Both Got Our Jobs!
:woohoo: congrats!

Hi gang...just wanted to give you a little update on the 5 night cruise that Jessica and Vicki are currently on (the one we were supposed to be on with them). They had an early itinerary change and ended up at Castaway Cay on Tuesday - with beautiful weather but no excursions due to wind, and today they docked in Nassau-more nice weather). They were supposed to return to CC Friday but were notified by the Captain that their itinerary had changed due to Hanna and they were now heading to the Florida straights. They aren't due back until Saturday so this leg of their cruise is officially a mystery. It will be interesting to see where they end up next.... :confused3 popcorn::

I read about the itinerary changes from VerandahMan's blog (he's also on that cruise) and have heard from Vicki quite a few times via email.

We had something kinda like that on our very first Disney cruise back in '01. It was the end of August...so naturally it was hurricane season. I mean we went to all the islands we were supposed to and everything was fine but at one point we had to take a different course out in the ocean. We went by an island and we kept asking the crew members what it was and since they had never gone that way no one had any idea!!:rotfl:  :rotfl2: I think in the end it was Puerto Rico? Or something??
But they do have back-up plans and routes for this sort of thing so I'm sure everybody is safe!!!

I think it's kind of cool, actually. I'd really be surprised (and bummed that I'm not there :lmao: ) if their cruise is extended. Man, wouldn't that be something!?!

I personally wouldn't mind the mystery part of it, especially since they did get one stop at CC and Nassau (for what that's worth). Pretty interesting to hear how it plays out.:thumbsup2

I think the mystery part would be neat, too. Although it might be a bit creepy to be sailing around and have no idea where you are...

Heidi- How are classes going?

I don't think, at 21 yrs old, I am equipped with what it takes to help my husband with the loss of his father.
I just don't.

My parents just met his mom tonight at the funeral home. He is so depressed that they met at his father's viewing. I can't even think of anything to say to him- how do you justify it being okay that it happened like that? :confused3

Just venting a little... I'm not familiar with the "sticks" and spending an entire week out there without having a clue what to say to anyone is causing me to lose my mind a little.

However, my MIL and myself bonded over pineapple jello and Wii today...

It's never easy to go through that kind of stuff, Patsy. Yes, it's very unfortunate that they had to meet during such a somber occasion but at least it's over now and hopefully, one day, you can all get together and do it again, without first time tension. The ice is broken and it takes away some of the empty awkward firsts. I guess it can't hurt to look at it that way. Give him time... I don't think there's anything you can really say now that's right. Tell him that you're there for him and that he's not going through this alone and hopefully time will help ease things for you both.

Yeah, I'm not.. breaking down or anything because I don't know what to do or say. It's just one of those  situations. That everyone goes through.
I'll get through it just whats on my mind.
If I could sleep I'd stop posting stupid stuff on here all the time. :rolleyes1

He focuses on the weirdest things. His mind works like nothing I've ever seen before so... it's just like :confused3 where did that come from??
:rotfl:

Sorry if I vent here too often. :flower3:

You don't vent here too often! It's good to have an outlet. So what if you're subjected to my dopey opinions from time to time. :lmao:

Vent away, we're out here listening!

Oh Patsy  You two are still getting to know each other and this is certainly one more way of you two getting to know each other. I don't mean that in a mean way in any way. Hug your man tight and let him know you are there for him. Glad you and your MIL have bonded.

Maybe your MIL could give you insight to how your dh thinks. Just a thought. I'm glad your parents came, it shows they care (the level of care who knows, but it was respectful of them :goodvibes ).

I think the mystery part would be neat, too. Although it might be a bit creepy to be sailing around and have no idea where you are...

Heidi- How are classes going?

Classes are classes.:p I actually like a few of them this semester!:rotfl: I'm taking marine mammals and I LOOOVVVEE that class!! My advisor teaches it so its even better!!:goodvibes Physics is entertaining cause my professor is a little out there and I just love laughing at him.:rotfl: My evolutionary bio class is kinda cool...were talking about the evolution of HIV and I find it a little fascinating...the way it interacts with DNA and stuff. And then ichthyology (study of fishes) is kinda cool it just seems like a lot of memorization...of scientific names...eek! :rotfl: I actually got chased out of Wilmington yesterday by Hanna. Classes were cancelled for today and we had a voluntary evacuation. I had been debating about whether I wanted to come home this weekend or not so when I got an extra day off I hit the road!
How bout you, Patsy?

Sorry about Tom's dad!:guilty: I wish I knew how to help you help him cope but I don't know either.:sad2: Just try and go with whatever mood he is in and be supportive?:confused3
