Disney Wonder March 20th 2011 sailing

I am all for the kids meet! I have a 14 year old dd who will desperately be looking for a few girl friends to hang out with. we are cruising with our friends who have much younger kids so my dd doesn't have anyone to hang with. This will be her first time in the teen club- she just turns 14 in Feb.

Anyone else have a young teen dd they need a friend for?

Vegaslover, are you in charge of this meet? Can we pick a time and place such as Promenade Lounge 2 pm boarding day or something to that effect?

Now, that my kids know about this cruise I will have my dd sign up for the facebook page. She has her own facebook acct so she can add the DisAmigos page and hopefully meet a few friends before we cruise.

I also have a ds11 so he'd love to meet some kids his age as well.

My DD is 13 and will be about a month from turning 14 when we cruise. We've been told that she should be able to participate in the teen area since it is so close to her birthday...if she feels comfortable there. She was in the Edge on our last cruise, and I think she would enjoy the change...but I don't want her hanging out with a bunch of 17 year olds either. She's a little nervous about which would be better...the Edge or the teen club. We'd both feel better if she had several 14 year old friends to hang around with. She has posted on the Kids Facebook page and has an email as well. She'd love to get to know your daughter before the cruise!

I think there are alot of 14 year old girls in this group for her to hang out with (including my DD). Of course you can always let her try it out and if she feels uncomfortable, she can do the other club. This is our first cruise with a teen. I hope she likes it as much this time.

YAY! :cool1:Good to hear that there will be lots of 14yo dds! My dd is now very excited to have a bunch of girls to hang out with. this will be her first time in the Teen club as well. I'm thinking that after the sail away party she'll want to take off for the club. we have late dinner.

So a meet by the pool at 2pm? Sounds perfect! Which pool- goofy? I feel so much better knowing that dd will have some girls to hang out with! Like I said, two other couple are cruising with us but the boys are 9 and 7 and the girls are 4, 4 and 6 so quite a big difference in age.

Is that 30 cabins or 30 people? I would really love to get a count of people in my group, if we're dividing the list, etc.

Some of us need more time than others...LOL

30 cabins. If my memory is correct, the list was getting close to 60 and we were splitting it in half. I don't think we've had very many additions since then and there have been a few cancellations.

Keep your fingers crossed that the organizer comes back very soon. I thought she might be back this weekend. Must be busy.

Is 30 cabins a normal number for participation? I think 30 cabins is too many. but, I have only participated in two FE exchanges. Both times we had about 15 cabins and we ended up with so much stuff we had a whole duffel bag of stuff to bring back.

Hi! I'm thinking pool or meet after the sail away party. I'm trying to figure out what time the party is to see if have enough time to fit in the meet before dinner. I like the pool, but it is loud at the pool. Let me do some research and i'll let you all know. I may just end up posting on the regular forum to get some answers

Right now I'm more concerned with the fe list being completed. It's up to each cruise group how many lists to split into if at all. The split and number of cabins was debated in September I believe. There was even some discussion of not dividing at all and there were 50+ cabins on the list at that time. I was actually reading a post on a fe thread by someone who had over 100 cabins to deliver to. IMAGINE THAT!

After reading a Navigator from a recent DCL cruise, it looks like the Sail away party is from 4:30 to 5:15. Not enough time to meet before dinner.
The drill is at 3:30.

I like kkmcan's idea of meeting at the promanade lounge because it is quieter and the kids and adults can talk. If you can pry your kids away from the pool, how about 2:30 in the promanade lounge on day one?

We can still meet at the Goofy pool at 1:30 too. I'll bring something to signal that I'm there. Hopefully, I'll be there by 1:30. :goodvibes

OMG!!!! We'd be spending half our cruise trying to find all the cabins. I am on your side about getting the list completed.

Me too...I know I keep saying this, but I really need the time to prepare...
I'm all for a smallish number (under 30) because it really is a lot of things to bring onto the ship and even more to take home!

On our last cruise, we had almost 100 FE gifts to deliver. It was REEEEEEEdiculous!!! Way too much work before the cruise and during. And we had way too much stuff to pack and bring home! I would most definitely vote for splitting the list into manageable groups of between 25-30. Everyone would have more time/energy to do nice FE gifts, won't have to take up too much of their cruise time delivering them, and will have a manageable amount of stuff to take home. Just my opinion, though...I'll go with whatever the majority wants to do.

I do think we need to do it SOON, however, so people can get started. Christine...didn't you manage the FE exchange on your last cruise? Any ideas about how we should handle this at this point?

Cyndi says she is working on the list and will return soon. I guess we need to just be patient and believe me, I know it's hard.

I actually started working on the FE gifts this summer. Right now I would plan on 30 and work from there.

I just want to know so I can see how much stuff I need to get for boys and girls. Plus I'm excited and anxious. Is there any way we can just speed through these next two months!!!!!!

I think I missed the link for the kids facebook page???? I'm on the regular disamigos facebook page but I'd like to get my dd on the kids one. Can someone help me out here?

So we'll be there at the kids meet- Promenade Lounge 2:30!

After that I think we'll get ready for the drill, sail away and then I'll take my dd to tour the Teen club.

Hello again everyone!I haven't been on in awhile, now that the holidays are over I'm ready to devote more time to planning this trip.

So are any of you flying in and arriving a day or two early? That's what I would like to do, but I'm having trouble figuring out the transportation. We are flying into LAX, so I'm thinking we will rent a car there, but then have to return it and take a taxi to the port since the only option at port is Enterprise and I read that dropping off there and with the one way cost it would be really expensive. What are you guys doing?

Thanks! I'm getting very excited!

We're flying in the day before on Jet Blue to Long Beach. We have a reservation at Best Western in LB. They will pick us up at the airport in a shuttle and take us to San Pedro in the morning. Breakfast in also included. The cost is $104 plus tax.

I've read that many cruisers out of San Pedro use Priceline for the Crowne Plaza and Doubletree (you have to specify 3 1/2 stars to get those hotels) and are paying about $69 or so. They will shuttle you to the terminal at no extra cost. I was going to do this but since you cannot specify how many beds in the room there is a good chance you will get a king. We have 3 people going and I didn't want to chance that.

You could skip the car rental and take a taxi or shuttle to your hotel.

The kids meet at the Promenade Lounge at 2:30 sounds good to me :thumbsup2.

Lots of FE talk going on and it sounds like a big group :scared1:. That's one reason I didn't join because it was just too much for me to handle . I signed up for the Secret Mickey instead since it's more manageable and relaxed ;).

BTW~ How many people are signed up for the Secret Mickey so far?

I've had a couple stressful weeks and March won't be here soon enough. I also have a Ladies weekend at Disneyland the first weekend in March so it will be nice to get some adult only time before the cruise.

Hope everyone has a great day.

:),
Katie

We are flying in on Thursday and going to Disney Land on friday then hanging out at our hotel pool on saturday. We are staying at the Howard Johnson in anaheim.

a friend of mine is picking us up from the airport and then taking us to the hotel. We are using zippy shuttle services for a ride from hotel to port and then from port to LAX for debarkation. Cost is $130. Hotel is $99 per night.
