Disney Wonder Jan 23, 2011

Jessica: Hope you're feeling better. Your FE looks AWESOME! Can't wait to see the final product.

Sue: Congrats on getting your tickets to the trick or treat party! :woohoo: It looks like Sergio and I will not be joining you on the 15th. We're looking at going on the 5th because that's the day of my birth. :rotfl:Hope you have fun though!

Cari: :welcome: It's great to see our group getting bigger and bigger! I'm so excited!

Cari-Welcome to our small but chatty & information loving group!.:grouphug: I hope you get to keep moving toward joining us & nothing gets in the way!

Jessica-I hope your pet issues are resolved. A few months ago I had to put my long time companion down. He was about 16 yrs old. Golden Retrievers don't usually get that old, we had a great one though. I hope it is nothing like that. I still tear up. :sad1: Feel better and make sure you are drinking lots of water. I know I get headaches when I don't & if you are crying a bunch...just be good to yourself. :flower3:
Your FE looks amazing! I keep looking at those on E-Bay but I haven't made the financial jump yet. :3dglasses

Yarina-You will have to give me the whole scoop after you 2 go. It is so nice to get 1st hand info. :hippie:

I am so out of sync. We typically leave the weekend once school is out for our Summer Vacation. I have to wait a whole week and it is driving me mad!:scared1: We have been at Disneyland for Father's Day for a number of years now but I think our delay was because of all the Grad Nights. We will still be there, I just have to wait. Can you hear my tap, tap, tap om my foot impatiently waiting? ;)
OK, I need to make a decision about dinner. Hope everyone is well today.
Later,
Sue

Cari & Denver (and gang): Welcome! We are so happy to have you! Also, if I may ask a question without being intrusive. Someone mentioned a pocket on your FE for Denver - which I think would be totally awesome! However, if I may ask: would it be appropriate to give stuff to a guide/assistance animal? If you indeed join our sailing and participate in FE's, please let us know if gifts for Denver are acceptable or not! :thumbsup2 Also, if certain things are acceptable and other things are not, please let us know that too! (I only ask because I know that assistance animals have strict restrictions - don't give them anything, don't pet them, etc). I truly hope you and Denver join us! (As a side note: I will wait to add yours & Denver's information (plus Wendi/daughter/boyfriend) to our little website after you confirm!

Sue: Thanks for the pet wishes. It's not a pet death (thank goodness). Two years ago we rescued a cat from the streets. We loved her to death, but she and our cat of 8 years didn't get along. It was OK because we had a 3 story house and they just stayed on different floors. When we lost our jobs last year and had to move to a 1 bedroom apartment, we we were kind of scared of what might happen. So, we gave her to my mom thinking my mom was lonely and she would be happy there. (It was sooo hard to let go over her) I found out on Sunday that a month ago my mom let her outside (which she promised me she wouldn't do)...so she's been roaming a trailer park in San Diego for the last month. I was furious, I couldn't sleep and I started crying at work. Then I started having anxiety about demanding her back from my mom and getting into a huge argument with her. It was a bunch of drama and a huge mess. I talked to my mom yesterday and she was wonderful about it. I started crying and she told me that if I want her back it's not a problem (she sees her every day, she can just grab her). Ryan and I have decided we are keeping her - FOR GOOD - but now I'm faced with (a) trying to get her shots done and get her bathed - because Ryan won't have her back in our house until that's done; and (b) we are still in an apartment and the cats still hate each other, so I'm clueless as to how that is going to work. If anyone has suggestions on this, I'm all ears! :listen:

Also Sue - Ryan and I will see if we can join you for the Halloween party! We need to mull it over because it's more expensive than we remember! At nearly $100 to attend we'll have to talk about it a bit first. Our 8-year wedding anniversary is 10/26 too, but it's a Tuesday so we'll need to decide if we can manage to go on that date or not. We will let you know though! :yay:

Everyone: I apologize for my rant on WOC. Yes, I am over it. Like I said before, I didn't care we couldn't see it, I was just furious about being lied to. Oh well, no biggie - I'm cool now :cool1: Also - we found out what the party was - it was imagineers and their families getting to preview it early. :thumbsup2

Yanira: That will be so much fun to do the Halloween party for your birthday! I'm so jealous! Also, great article! I know I was a bit of a skeptic on the situation, but I hope to goodness Disney does a Hawaii cruise! :woohoo: Oh yeah - I also wanted to ask - what kind of city tour are you thinking for Mazatlan? (just curious) :)

Steve & Amy: Emma is ADORABLE! princess: I will also make a prediction that she's going to be a handful in high school! :rotfl2: Good Luck with that! ;)

Cari,

I think we were posting at the same time! I asked a question about Denver's gift restrictions, but this answers it! You can just ignore my question ;) I will add you both to the website as soon as you post your room number. (If you want you can also let us know your dining time, your location, etc). I can also put on your FE column the restrictions for Denver - that way people won't have to search the posts for that info, they can just look on the list! :wizard:

Also - my husband and I have Premium passes, but they expire on the 20th. We usually go ever couple of weeks though. (We've gone both of these last 2 weekends, and we might be going this weekend for WOC). We will be renewing our passes in September (we don't like Disneyland during the summer months), so from September on we'd love to go to Disneyland anytime you want! :woohoo:

I'm totally stoked you guys are joining us! :cheer2::upsidedow:yay::woohoo:

Woops - I forgot to give the info on how to post a picture. This is what I do:

* Upload your picture(s) from your computer onto photobucket.com
* Once uploaded, copy the IMG code
* Paste that IMG code directly into the text of your post here on DISboards
* Voila - your image will show up when you preview or submit post (you can preview first to make sure it worked before posting) :thumbsup2
Good luck with it!

Also - if you want to email me pictures I will post them on our little cruise site! Just email them to me as attachments at mrsjeccamcintosh@yahoo.com

Hi Cari,

If you haven't realized by now, I am long winded :rotfl2: So...just a warning that this is going to be a long post ;)

You are too silly! You can post as many pictures as you want, we eat them up! We started our own little website where I have a bunch of useful cruise information, shore excursion information and trip reports from people who did the Disney Mexican Riviera in 2005, and most importantly - the website has the list with all of our personal information! (I'm going to list a bunch of info for you now, but if for some reason you are not able to access what you need from the website please let me know and I will be happy to post any changes or info here so you can be privy to itl). :thumbsup2 If you can get around the website, the list with our information is under the link titled "Characters of Wonder", it has each of our names and ages as well as the names and ages of everyone's traveling companions; it also has our location, dining time, whether or not we are participating in FE's, our cabin number, and a picture! Another fun link we have on that website is titled "fun photos" and it is basically just a page of pictures people have emailed me that I post so all of us can enjoy them! If you want, let me know the names, ages, your location, your dining time, and your cabin number (or numbers) and I will update your info on our website! If your friend's daughter and boyfriend have their own room I will add them too if you shoot me their info! Also, you can email me pictures at mrsjeccamcintosh@yahoo.com and I will put your pictures on the site as well. :) You can also feel free to send the link for this discussion board and/or our little website to Wendi and family so they can take a look and participate too! The website address is http://sites.google.com/site/wonderjan23/

So far our group is relatively small, we have 6 cabins plus you, Denver, Wendi, daughter, and boyfriend's cabin (or cabins). Out of the 6 cabins, five cabins are participating in Fish Extenders. At the moment the people count for those participating in fish extenders is 10 adults, one 4 year old girl and one 10 year old boy (and you guys, of course :thumbsup2). The 6th cabin has two small twin girls, but they are leery of giving out their information and deciding on fish extenders just yet. We have all said that even if they don't want to do fish extenders we will leave goodies for her twins; but unfortunately we can't actually do that unless we know their cabin number (and we don't have that info at the moment). Hopefully they will join us too though! :wizard:

How many cabins does your group have? Also, do you think all of you will join in on Fish Extenders or just you and Denver?

About Disneyland this weekend, unfortunately we're not going to make it. The good news is that we figured out how to get our cat back and get her cleaned, etc. Friday night after work we're going to drive to San Diego and pick her up from my mom's house. Saturday morning (which is why we can't go to d land) we are going to take her to the pet groomer my best friend uses. We are just hoping that she will be bathe-able and not need any kind of sedation. I'm just crossing my fingers that it will all be alright. I think the biggest hurdle is going to be the 2 cats living together again. I don't think I can emphasize enough how much they HATE each other! Their contempt for one another is off the charts! :rotfl2: Last time they were together in a small space my cat of 8 years got stressed out so much that she lost a great deal of weight and became malnourished. I'm just hoping I can find a way to make that all work! With that said, our passes don't expire until next Sunday (the 20th), so we might try and go Saturday the 19th to see World of Color. If we go I will absolutely let you know!

Also regarding the cat, thank you for the offer to bathe her. :flower3: And please, it's not silly at all to think of a blind girl bathing and vaccinating a cat! I am 100% sure you could do it a heck of a lot better than me! In fact, I am 100% sure that even sighted I couldn't do it at all! :rotfl2: I might have even taken you up on the offer if she weren't so fierce around water. I don't know what it is about water, but I think maybe her previous owner tried to drown her or something - no joke! She goes INSANE around water! Hopefully with the way I've set it up they can try bathing her without it but then sedate her if needed. (I don't know how that will work yet though, so we'll have to wait and see).

My husband and I currently live in Riverside, and we HATE IT! We were both born and raised in San Diego, in 2002 we lived in Temecula, in 2006 we moved to Las Vegas, and in 2009 we both lost our jobs and had to take 50% pay cuts and relocate back here. We lived in Murrieta until this past March but decided to move up here - and now we regret that decision more than anything! With no traffic it's only about a 45 minute drive to Disneyland, so it's nice to be so close. What area do you live in?

As far as a cruise meet, a couple of us have posted to arrange that but nothing has really been determined yet. Those of us that live in California are all getting together in September. (Steve will have to remind us of the exact date), but he Amy (his wife) and Emma (their 4 year old) are coming down for a family birthday party in the area so they're going to sneak away for the day so all of us can get together before the cruise! Hopefully you, Denver, Wendi, daughter, and boyfriend will be able to join us! Several of us are also talking about going to the Halloween party in October. I know 2 people already have tickets, but for different dates. Ryan and I are still considering it, but it appears that will happen on 10/15 if you want to join in on that! :woohoo: Aside from that, we have not yet made any plans to meet on the ship. We are, however, all conspiring to do shore excursions together! If you have any thoughts on when and how to all get together, please feel free to post away! We'd LOVE to hear your thoughts and ideas! Your map idea is a great one! What kind of maps were they? Were they an actual layout of the ship? I think setting a cut-off date would be good too, that way people aren't forced to try and get last-minute stuff or make last-minute gifts. Do you (or anyone else) have a thought as to when our cut-off date should be?

OK, is that post just way too long?!? (haha) :rotfl2: Sorry...I pre-warned you that I'm long winded :rotfl:

Aww! Denver is absolutely gorgeous - and silly! I love the tie! When I was a teenager I inherited a lab when our neighbor died (he left the dog to us). I loved her so much, and she loved being with us (the guy that died used to beat her, it was so sad). So, she had a happy life and got way too fat! LOL. Then, senior year of high school our house caught on fire and we live din a hotel for 3 months. My mom's best friend at the time took the dog, but then when we moved out of the hotel and wanted her back - she refused to give her back to us! It was the most crushing thing in the world to me :( I don't know why my mom didn't make her give the dog back, I guess she thought that Baby would be better off in a backyard than an apartment - I don't know. But it was so crushing. Baby and the other dog that lived there ran away together (literally) and they were never seen again. I have no idea what happened to her. *tear* Ok, this conversation just got really sad so I will shut up now.

Let's see if I can do this now:
CruiserChristmas2008.jpg

This is my old man, Cruiser. Unfortunately he we lost him a few months ago. He was about 16. Denver-meet Cruiser. ;)

The on to our 120 Lb. beast, Hale (short for Haleakala-the Volcano in Hawaii)
HaleChristmas2008.jpg

Denver-meet Hale. :goodvibes
Maybe more later, more in line with Disney stuff. ;)
Sue

Aw Sue, they're precious! I'm sorry for your loss. Sometimes I think losing a pet is harder than losing a family member. I know everyone might not agree, but I personally get so attached to animals that it's true for me. How old is Hale? (And, is Hale a boy or a girl?) ;)

While we're sharing, here are pictures of my kitties! (Ryan is NOT an animal person - he pretty much hates all animals. :( I kind of got Kitbutt and didn't tell him (eek!), then, Malle (named after Pixar's Wall-E, but she's a girl so we put the W upside-down and made it a "M"!), well, I kind of wiggled her into our lives when I started feeding her on the porch (she was abandoned by someone and digging in our trash one day). Kitbutt (the black cat) is with us today. Malle (white) will be coming back home to us on Friday! :woohoo: (so excited :cheer2:) (LOL, Kitbutt is probably not so excited though :rotfl2:)

This is Kitbutt about a year ago
Kitbutt_small.jpg

This is Malle-Walle, also about a year ago. My mom went out of state for a few weeks so she stayed with us. I almost couldn't give her back to my mom - I cried a LOT! (Yanira, I'm a crier too!) I can not express how elated I am to be getting her back - Friday isn't coming soon enough!

jessica your hubby looks TOO familliar to me ! Whats your last name ? IM DYING I think i know him went to school with him maybe holy cow I cant even type anything else - i just need to know LOL
will post when I get over the heart attack of thinking I know Ryan LOL

Great pet pics everyone! I love the picture of Denver on formal night. :thumbsup2

Welcome to the group Cari! We are so glad you can join us. It sounds like you fit in perfectly with our group. When it gets a little closer, we will definitely plan some onboard meets. I have a feeling Denver will get more attention on the FE than the kids will. It will be so much fun planning something for him.

Having a cutoff date for the FE worked really well for us on the last cruise. Anyone who wanted to join after that was noted on the map and anyone who had extra gifts or could quickly whip up something gave them something. We always try to make a few extras anyway.

Here is a copy of a FE map we used for an Eastern cruise last year: http://pages.suddenlink.net/airtime247/map.html It's ugly but it worked.

Regarding the September "unofficial" meet, we will be in L.A. from September 3 - 12. We will be at Disneyland on the 5th but only for the half marathon. We will be visiting the parks the 7th-10th. The rest of the time we will be in the Van Nuys area staying with my MIL. :scared1:

I agree, I think Emma will be a handful in high school. She's only four but I've already told her she's not allowed to date until she's 40 or I die, whichever happens first! ;) A little boy at preschool who I can't stand already asked her to be his girlfriend. She told Amy she said yes but told me she didn't answer him. Grrrrrrr. Any dads of daughters can understand where I'm coming from! :headache:

Happy almost-Friday everyone!

-steve

Hey cruisers

I was just looking at changing our room from a verandah to a SPH, but none was available (of course, I should have known that they'd be full by now). In any case, while poking around I found that the cruise leaving on Feb 27th is cheaper, and the water may be warmer. We haven't decided yet if we'll change our reservations, but we may.

I'll let you know what we decide once DH looks at his schedule. I did notice that there's no cruise meets thread for that one yet, so I'm guessing it's really not filling up. Which makes me hope that hte prices will come down ever more! We thought we'd have a bit more money for this trip than we do, so we're looking at cutting some costs. We really want to be able to do the dolphin thing with the girls, but in order to do so, we need to cut some corners elsewhere. And that may be changing our sail dates.

:goodvibes

How old are you? Ryan just turned 30 this past November. He grew up in Santee and went to Santana High School. We have lived in San Diego, El Cajon, Temecula, Murrieta, Las Vegas, and now Riverside. Back out of high school he had some odd jobs and then became a drafter. He is now an architectural project manager. Our last name is McIntosh.

I'm so curious - if you know him that would be too funny!!

Hmmm. That will work. LOL - I vote that you head-up this venture :rotfl2:

LOL - what, you don't get along with your mother-in-law? You're too funny! This unofficial meet is going to be great, and I think a lot of us are going to show up! When it gets closer we'll have to pick a day. Do we think we'll all want to spend the whole day together, or just meet for lunch or something? Either way - I'm in! :3dglasses Toy-Story here I come!

I agree, I think Emma will be a handful in high school. Oh my goodness that's HILARIOUS! :rotfl2: I really did "LOL", Ryan even said, "what's so funny kidlette?" LOL. I can't believe she's only 4 and already doing that! :rotfl: All I can say is...good luck! :lmao:
