Disney Wonder crossing the Panama Canal, Aug 26, 2016

This goes to EVERYONE reading this thread ... where are you staying the night before the cruise?

We're staying at the Holiday Inn Express - Downtown :)
We live in California so we will be flying in that day. We wanted to take the Panama Canal Cruise that ended in San Diego so it would be a short trip home but the timing did not work out for us vacation wise.

Yes!! As you can see, I'm a rather large fan, mostly cause of Elsa ^_^ I heard that Olaf even signs autographs in the meet and greet! :D
I don't have the tabs up anymore but you can search around and find reviews about the party as well :) I'm so excited!

Haha yes ^_^ I shall have to wear my Lime Green Mickey Head hair clip so you know who I am! :D
It's funny, we have pretty similar ideas of times, you're just a tad earlier it seems though lol

I'm really excited for the glass shop on the harbor tour :D We'd very much like to purchase a small piece while there :)

On an unrelated note, would you mind putting my full name for the FE? (Kristal, instead of Kris). Since I'm making my new Fish Extender soon, I'm going to be putting my full name and don't want to confuse anyone.
Also we just ordered our FE and we added our dog to ours his name is King or Mr King as we like to call him. Just didn't want to confuse anybody when they visited our door.

We're staying at the Holiday Inn Bayside, but wouldn't mind being closer to the ship terminal OR gaslamp quarter, if anyone has any recommendations! I think we looked at the express downtown, but our flights are arriving when their free shuttle isn't available and bayside has a free 24 hr shuttle.

I still haven't booked anything  I have a waitlist for the Grand Californian, but if that doesn't come through I'll probably just pick the cheapest in the area. We're flying into SNA so will drive down the morning of the cruise and drop off the car right before. In the back of my mind I've been thinking maybe staying at the Queen Mary because we're going to do a tour but I haven't looked at prices or availability.

Yippee! We have a PAT! Worked pretty easily, 12 EST is 9pm here, we got to do the online check in around 15 minutes after. Our PAT is 12 - 12:30 and we also set up Palo Brunch for the 7th at 10:30am, the only time available. We figured we'd start with that and then if we wanted to reschedule, we could move it to the following week. We might do that Harbor cruise in Cabo that goes by the glassblowing shop. We've been to all the stops, except Cartagena, several times, so we might just stay on the ship the whole time, we love sea days. Even better are port days when everybody else is off! :D

Spur of the moment decision to go on this cruise! Just booked! Have been on other Disney cruises (including Panama Canal in 2012 or 2013) but have never booked one so close to departure time:) It will be just my husband and myself on this trip; we usually travel with my brother & sis-in-law but they are unable to join us.

Only issue we had booking late (and it is not a problem at all) was gettin port arrival time of 12:00. Is it possible to arrive earlier without an issue?

Quick question about onboard events. Does anyone know how many formal/semi-formal nights we will have? And which days those may take place?

We will be arriving in San Diego the day before the cruise (staying at the Manchester Grand Hyatt booked on our own not through DCL). We have never been to SD before; we will probably just do the Hop On/Hop Off Trolley to tour the city. Although I did come across what looks like a great whale watching tour; we were surprised to learn there may be whales in SD in August!

Very excited!!

I can't speak on arriving before your port arrival time cause I've never done it, BUT I can tell you that there are 2 formal nights and 1 semi-formal. The 2 formals are currently scheduled to be our first sea day (8/27) and the sea day before Cozumel (9/6). The semi formal is scheduled to be 9/1. Also Pirates is supposed to be 9/5 and Frozen on 8/30. Every other day is listed as "Cruise Casual."

Looks like we'll be moving in the first week of August :scared:

I will need a box just for DISNEY VACATION lol

We'll see you onboard on the port days :) We might get off at PV and Cabo for an hour or two for shopping, but no excursions booked except Cartagena.

Exciting to book so close, welcome!!! :)

Hi all - I'm new to the forum and interested on participating in FE. Who should I contact to add to the participants list? Thanks in advance.

Did anyone else get a $46 credit from Disney for the cruise? No idea what it is for, but we'll take it!

Correct me if I am wrong but 10 WEEKS AND WE ARE ON THE BOAT!!!!!

You beat me to it! :thumbsup2

Again I have to apologize for not being present here much, but the last few weeks of school are always so stressful and there were several big tests to look through, which didn't leave me much time.
3 more weeks and we are done! Can't wait. ;)

This will be our first character meal on the ship, I'm really excited!!!

Ours too! We tend to stay away from character meals, but this was too good to pass up. :goodvibes

Haha yes ^_^ I shall have to wear my Lime Green Mickey Head hair clip so you know who I am! :D

I love the idea of a lime green Mickey hair clip! Hope you wear it!!

I got your PM, but had no time to get back to you. I will change it this weekend. It is going towards 10pm here and I am tired already.

We're staying at the Holiday Inn Express - Downtown :)

We're staying at the Wyndham Bayside. Got a great rate on Booking . com. Staying in a waterview room and hope to get a glimpse of the Wonder in the morning.

Also we just ordered our FE and we added our dog to ours his name is King or Mr King as we like to call him. Just didn't want to confuse anybody when they visited our door.

Love the idea of having a pet's name on it too! Maybe I should make a new one for us and add our little fur princess.

I still haven't booked anything  I have a waitlist for the Grand Californian, but if that doesn't come through I'll probably just pick the cheapest in the area.

I tried for the GC too, but we would have needed 5 days and it was just not happening. I am too chicken to waitlist, so we are booked at the Best Western Anaheim Inn across the road. The rate and reviews were good. Are you going to be at DL before the cruise?

:confused3

In the back of my mind I've been thinking maybe staying at the Queen Mary because we're going to do a tour but I haven't looked at prices or availability.

:rotfl: That is where we wanted to stay when I started planning. The rates to stay at the QM are not what I would consider cheap, but it looked interesting.

Yippee! We have a PAT!

Congratulations! One of the things that make the cruise so much more real.

Our PAT is 12 - 12:30 and we also set up Palo Brunch for the 7th at 10:30am, the only time available. We figured we'd start with that and then if we wanted to reschedule, we could move it to the following week.

We have never had a problem getting a second Palo reservation on board. They do hold some reservations back, so I am sure you will be able to change your reservation.

We might do that Harbor cruise in Cabo that goes by the glassblowing shop.

:thumbsup2
