Hi new to this section of the board. :goodvibes My hubby and I are planning a trip to the World in June for the Star Wars weekends. Big Star Wars fans :darth: :yoda: We have never been to Disney by ourselves. I went as a child, and we have been numerous times with our children.

How guilty am I going to feel that I am leaving my children at home at the one place my oldest princess: loves more than anything????? Also how can I leave my 8 month old at home here in Tennessee for a whole week??? Oldest is staying with MIL and baby is staying with my mother. So not only will we be away from them, but they will be away from each other.

GASSPPP:scared: :scared: :scared: I have to fly with out my kids!!!!! I have flown a lot, but not with out my babies. Granted I would rather fly for 1 1/2 hours than drive for 12 with my hubby:scared1: I just dont like the idea... You know how us stay at home moms are, well all moms for that matter. I hate flying

I also know this is an invest in us trip. We normally go to the beach, but really want to do Star Wars weekends and the rides we cant do with a 5 year old/ 8 month old. I just dont know if I will be able to handle it....

HELP ME!!!!:headache: :headache: :headache:

OK, stop, take a deep breath, and relax.

You can do it.

Be strong.

Mommy and daddy deserve some alone Disney time. :goodvibes

They are going to be only a phone call away, and that flight is going to be super short. Everything is going to be ok.
:hippie:

My husband and I have been married for 23 years this year. We decided early on to take a trip away from the kids. We try to go away together alone every other year. We have taken weekends trips and some longer ones. This year we will be taking our second trip to WDW without the kids.

Remember after the kids are grown it will be your husband and yourself.

As the previous poster said relax it will be fine.

Look as this as a way for your children to get closer to their grandparents and have sometime for their bonds to grow stronger.

Enjoy and have fun planning!!!!

Hope this helps.

Make sure your will is up to date for peace of mind- I won't leave the kids without that taken care of.

You are separating them for one on one time with their grandmothers? Does life for a child get any better than that?

Flying without kids? You don't know what you're missing. But imagine- no telling them not to kick the seat in front of them, no entertaining them, no picking up toys that have fallen under the seat, no picking mashed raisins off your clothes before disembarking the plane. You might even be able to relax and hold your hubby's hand or something like that. :scared1:

Go and have a great time! You will discover that WDW is no place for kids. ;) Or should I say a different place without kids?

Thank you all!! I have had wills for a long time now and medi proxi's for both grandmothers. I am the biggest worry wart!:rotfl: I guess it is the plane thing that bothers me. I dont fly well. Ever one says you get use to flying.. Ha :rotfl2: Not here. Seasoned flyer that still :scared: grabs the arm rest and questions ever little bump!

************So when is George rumored to be there??? My hubby would so:eek: . He would act like a school girl:rotfl2:

I'm the child whose parents left them at home when they traveled. When I was six months old, they went on a three week safari to Africa with my aunt and uncle. Every year or two after that, they would travel for two or three weeks, usually leaving us in the care of my grandmother.

And guess what? I love my parents very much!

Some of my favorite childhood memories are of watching the films from the Africa trip. I also loved the time I was able to spend with my grandmother; I have all those wonderful memories of her to cherish now that she is gone.

Did I cry and scream when they left? Of course! Did I miss them when they were gone? Of course! But since they always left us in the care of wonderful, nurturing people, it was never an overwhelmingly traumatic experience. I never once felt that my parents didn't love me.

So I say - by all means, GO!!!!! Re-charge your batteries. Strengthen your marriage (not to imply that it needs strengthening, just that that is a possibility). And know that your children will be well-loved and looked after by your relatives. And they WILL get over it, now matter how many tears they shed when you leave.

Have a magical trip!

forgot you flying.

my problem with flying is somebody else (who I don't know) is in control.

have control issue.

so always get an aisle seat. then play CD's and read a book. Since no kids this time - you get to relax. just bring a good book or one you have wanted to read.

flying isn't so bad - but I will always prefer to drive myself.

even the dumps don't bother me. just tell your brain it is a ride at WDW!

Hello all. My DW and I just went to DW for the second time since we married. The trip was to celebrate my graduation from my animation major. I had a good time but I have to admit, I thought it was weird to not have my newphews or kids of my own with us.

We went during the "1000 Dreams" celebrations. I did not get that until I saw some "aliens" coming to capture Buz LightYear :rotfl: (aka please relieve the cast member for potty break). He had "escaped" and was giving autographs! It made me feel like a kid again. I just wish I could have got my picture taken with those aliens or wish I would have been one! :3dglasses

We are like you, we have been to WDW several time all with the kids of course. We planned on a weekend getaway this may for just ourselves. It took me forever to book, I just couldn't imagine leaving the kids. DW and I have never been alone together on a trip so I figured to go ahead and take the plunge. We leave in 2 weeks and hopfully we don't feel to guily :confused3
