Food and Wine Wars, Episode Four

We are now at 53 days till we leave for WDW, it is now crunch time for Food and Wine planning. At the start of August all menus for the international marketplace came out online. Since then we've combed through them and made an excel doc highlighting our must have - would like to have and don't care to have items. We will be spending 3 lunch-supper periods at Epcot during our stay but there are 12 kiosks with items that we Must Have. This would mean 4 kiosks per day. Now I've never been to F&W but that sounds reasonable to me. Two kiosks for lunch and two for supper. Now if anyone thinks that this is not possible please let me know!

So now in no particular order: Here are the first 4 kiosks with must have food items that we plan on visiting during our trip.

FRANCE:

Our picks include the Escargot (my pick), the boeuf Bourguignon, the creme brulé and the cosmo slush.

Greece

At the Greece booth there is only one item that we plan to try out but it's very high on my list. The griddled cheese with honey and pistachio combines all my favourite things in the world. Cheese, sugar and pistachio. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the first kiosk we visit.

Hawai'i

There are a few tasty looking things at the Hawai'i booth. I keep hearing about the Kalua Pork Sliders, they seem to be a fan favourite year after year. The Tuna Poke is something I've been meaning to try so I figure F&W is a good time to try it out. As for beer, I think we'll have a hard time resisting the Kona Brewing Company Porter. Anything with the name Kona deserves a try in my books.

Refreshment Port

No photos available yet from this booth but doesn't it sound amazing! Dole Whips, Pineapple Fritters and Dragon Berry Coladas! OH MY! This sounds like the perfect mid afternoon refreshment stop.

I'll be back soon with the rest of our list. What items from those booth would you guys love to try? Any of our picks that you don't agree with? Let me know :)

Oh PS: All photos and information in this post comes from Disney Food Blog aka my favourite place on the internet. Check them out for more info!

Mmm Mmm, your F&W plan of attack looks great! I will be sending lots of pixie dust your way for good weather. :wizard: I do remember the pork sliders to be yummy, even soaking wet from all the rainstorms.

Alright, of these choices I would definitely need to have...
The crime brûlée in France
The cheese from Greece
And that's it for this list. Man I'm picky!

It's my dream to attend F&W festival someday!! Loving your plans! The refreshment port looks appetizing! :)

Yum! Sounds like a good start so far. I would definitely go for the chocolate creme brulee and I heard good things about the pork sliders as well, so that is one I've been curious to try. I think that 4 booths in a day is doable especially if your just taking your time and enjoying it. Are you and your wife splitting any of the meals or are you and your wife getting your own food?

Your list so far sounds very similar to mine. I can't wait for the Greek cheese and the Kalua pork sliders. Unfortunately, my list is so long, I think I'm going to have to whittle it down.

Hopefully once the festival starts, people will start posting some reviews.

Like your picks so far! The griddled cheese looks especially interesting. I don't think we stopped at Greece at all last year, I think I'll have to give that a try.

The Kahlua pork sliders are delish and I'm very much looking forward to them again. Joe's favorite thing at F&W (that he talks about all the time) was the tuna poke and I tend to agree that it was pretty awesome and definitely worth a try.

I'm excited for the beef empanadas in Argentina, the potato and leek waffle in Belgium and the crispy pork belly with black beans, onions, avocado and cilantro in Brazil. That's just the tip of the iceberg!

I almost feel like bringing a portable tray with an umbrella on top just in case that happens. I really don't want the rain storms to stop us from enjoying F&W. Glad to know the Pork Sliders where rain proof :P

Nothing wrong with that, you just have refined taste (My wife used to be super picky but in the last years has come a long way in terms of trying new things)

The refreshment port looks Fantastic! I can't wait to visit that booth.

We'll be sharing everything so I think we'll be able to get 4 a day done easily enough. I don't think any creme brulé can rival the one at Le Cellier but we'll give the chocolate one a try :)

The griddled cheese really grabbed my attention. It looks like a great mix of flavors.

Good to know that the poke is good. I've never tried any before so I'm a bit never. It'll be outside my comfort zone for sure.

I'm also looking forward to hearing reviews; I just hope it helps make my list smaller and not longer haha.

F & W is exactly why we're doing a split stay and moving over to the BWV after a few nights at AKV! We always say that we want to try more of the booths but we never leave enough time (or room in our stomachs!) I had planned to spend our entire last day at Epcot with NO ADRs just so we could eat as much F & W fodder as possible...but then California Grill had to go and open their ADRs.... So I made one for that last day! Now I'm thinking about making changes but I don't know! I'm so torn!! Too much Disney Food and not enough Disney Days!

Four booths a day is definitely doable. Last year, I imagined the portion sizes would be small, and we could do half the booths in one day and half the next. Wrong!! We got filled up so fast. We had to make some last minute adjustments and some booths had to go unvisited.

At least this year we know what to expect and will plan accordingly.

Darn Cali Grill, putting a wrench in your plans! We had the same debate when we heard it would be reopening with the new menu but in the end we decided on skipping it this time since F&W is only once a year and Cali Grill will always be there. We did go back and forth a few times trying to decide.

It's great that you'll be close to Epcot for a few nights. We are pretty happy to be moving to BCV for our last few nights, it'll be great to stumble home on foot at night :P

Haha that's why my inner obsessive planner can come in handy at times. I'm hoping that by prioritizing things I won't need to miss out on any of my top picks. The portions are pretty huge eh? Can't wait to see for myself.

I ended up changing our ADR to our arrival night instead of our last night! We're going to MNSSHP on our last night and if we had dinner at CG at 5pm, that would seriously limit our party time! So I just bumped it to the first night so it won't interfere with anything park related, since we don't do a park on arrival day.

I'm not 100% sold on BWV yet but the location definitely counts for something!

Popping in to say hi!

I'm really glad you were able to continue with your plans despite the 'minor' date issues. I'm excited at how quickly your trip is approaching!

Those all sound like great choices at for F&W :thumbsup2 You should have no problems making it to 2 kiosks for lunch and 2 for supper, but I will say the portions are not very big, so you might find yourselves wanting to try more than just 2 booths for each meal, especially if you plan on splitting your dishes. The lines can get a bit long too, but we were there during the last little bit of the festival, so it could be different during when you guys will be there.

If it's not already in your plans, you should try to make a bit of time to see the main F&W building because there were a few neat things in there - especially for shopping (it's where we bought our alcohol to bring home).

The griddled cheese was one of my top favorite choices when we did food and wine! It is amazing. So was the cosmo slush. The escargot was good but it was my first experience with it and I was expecting something more exotic!
4 booths is DEFINITELY doable. We did several but we only went for one day. We just each took a couple of bites of every thing instead of getting stuff on our own

I am super excited, we are still 21 days away but I already have a hard time sleeping haha. Good to know that we won't get filled up on 2 booth each meal. I'm open to anything that allows me to eat more food. We definitely need to stop by the wonders of life building to check it out. Especialy now that we drink wine (yes, our plan to get ourselves used to wine worked!)

That griddled cheese really looks like the perfect food for me. It has everything I like in food. GLad to hear you liked the cosmo slush. Ever since the Avocado Margarita, I trust your alcohol taste completely!

Honey, pistachio and cheese = heaven in my mind. It better not disappoint me.

Less than 30 days left!! You all getting excited?!!:woohoo:

YES!!!!:cheer2:pixiedust::cheer2:pixiedust::cool1::thumbsup2:rotfl::drive: I already have a hard time sleeping! That is not a good sign!

I am, I am!! 22 days here!! :)

21 days now for me. Feels good doesn't it?
