Disney with MS?

I have MS and have been planning my Disney vacation around my avonex shot so i don't have to take it with me, this cuts down my vacation time> what are some thoughts from others that use avonex, is it that much of abother to do it while vacationing?

I took 2 doses of Avonex with me last Nov. I last minute packed them in my checked luggage with two extra cold - cold packs in a thermal lunch bag and wrapped it in towels. It was the first thing I unpacked. It was still cool. Our room was ready so into the fridge it went. We were at OKW so had full kitchen. I didn't know about the "sharps" containers in the resorts so I took my needles home with me. Apparently, you can call housekeeping and they wil supply a sharps container to use to dispose your needles. I packed the Avonex because I wasn't sure what documents I would need to carry the needles in my carry on. It worked out fine. It was about 5 hours total that the med was not in a real refrigerator. I self injected on my scheduled day with no problem.

Hi!I too have MS,I take daily injections and had no problem with it interfering with my trip.At the resort I called housekeeping and they gladly supplied a sharps container.I also packed my Copaxone with the checked baggage.If you have a DR's note I don't see the airline giving you much of a hassle.I did hear some airlines are requiring the dose to be in the original box with the scrip label.Good Luck with your vacation.Remember to take it easy and keep cool.Last year at this time we were planning our first trip that Sept.I was getting worried I wouldn't keep up with the family.It all worked out greatAnd here we are going this Sept again.

I might have already said this, but you can check the website of your airline for the information. It may not be really easy to find the link, but I have done searches on airline websites and been able to find their individual policies about needles and injectable medications.

Thanks for all the help. I can't wait till i go back, as long as my little body is still doing everything I am going, each and every yr.
