Day 6 Part 2: Sunday, June 14 AKA Bev, Kim and Tink
When we exited the land on our way to TT, DD innocently asks, Why dont we go Club Cool so BF can try some of the drinks there? I forgot about it but this was part of an evil plot she decided on when we first planed the trip. DDBF must try BEVERLEY! Sneaky kid. Dont know where she gets that from. A couple of the machines were not dispensing Bev so we had to hunt around for one. She pours Bev for both of them and I asked them to wait so I could get a picture.
Beverly
DDBF looked more confused then grossed out
Go ahead take a bigger sip. Gotcha.
It was fast pass time for Test Track so we headed over there. When we got there, I was a little surprised that wait times were still not bad. About 35 minutes. Overall, crowds were not overpowering today.
Another ride on TT
All that hair prep time gone to waste
These next pictures scare me to death. DD has threatened to take the written exam for her restricted drivers license. You can now take the test online and I told her it was her responsibility to study and take it. I was not getting involved other than paying for the test. So far she has not taken it yet. Yippee, although I know it is only a matter of time.
Earlier while they were riding Soarin, I went to the kiosk that dispensed the Kim Possible reservation times and got us a pass. The CM there explained the game and it seemed pretty simple. I hesitated because I was not sure when we would get over there but knew it would be after the reserved time. He told me it was OK to go anytime after the time on the ticket.
Exiting TT, we were going to head over to Norway and pick up the Kimmunicator. They instead wanted to head to Animal Kingdom. I bid them happy travels and told them to just stay in touch. After making my way to the stand near Norway, I gave the CM my pass. I let him know there were supposed to be three of us but the two kids backed out. He said, Yea, I hear that all the time from the adults who want to play. No really, they were supposed to be here but they backed out. He was right though. They were my cover because I really wanted to try this.
He punches some things on the computer and says that my mission will be in China which is one of his favorite places. He hands over the Kimmunicator, tells me how it works and sends me on my way. It is kind of neat. You are sent on clues to foil the evil monkeys or something like that. The clues are somewhat easy but I did get lost a couple of times. One was not my fault because the place was covered by a tarp. The goal is to go to the right spot, push the button and not to spoil anything, things happen that lead you to the next step.
It was good that I was assigned China because I never go there. I do not shop and hate to stand around with anyone who wants to shop so there was not much reason to go into the stores here. But I have to admit there are some neat things to see.
No, I was not tempted to do the falling dominos thing here. OK, I was but didnt.
So I complete my mission and drop off the phone. Now what to do? It was hot. Let me restate that. IT WAS HOT! Did I mention that the heat index was over 100 every day we were there? Stumbled my way to the International Gateway and saw the United Kingdom down the hill. Thinking why not, I went to the Rose and Crown Pub. Believe it or not, this is the first time I stepped foot into here. Nice place. Not too crowded, the AC was pumping and the guests looked like they were having a good time.
Glanced at the menu but wasnt really hungry. Thought about having a cocktail because I do not drink good beers, only their watered down versions. Decided against it and left to go back in the heat. Not before taking a couple of pictures though.
Really neat bar. It is now on my to do list.
Since I was heading to BCV and not BW, I didnt think to detour over to ESPN. I love that place but did not make it this trip. Next time. Back at the room, I found two intruders. Instead of heading directly to Animal Kingdom, the kids were taking a break and having a snack in the room. They left a little while after I got back so I was left alone to chill out.
Read, relaxed but did not nap. Call from the kids and they were having a fun time. Wait times were bad but they did do Cali and Everest. I also think they did Safari. There was a debate on waiting for them at the hotel or meeting them in the MK. Finally decided to wait for them.
When they got back to the room it did not take them FOREVER to get ready to go to the MK. It was Extra Magic Hours so we had time. When we got there, I thought about trying the Plaza Restaurant but they were closing down. I tried to bribe the CM at the host station with a dollar to let us in. He laughed. Noticed that he had a Mickey sparkly thing on his cheek and asked if DD and BF could have one. Sure.
The one thing I wanted to do was wishes. What did DD want to do? Goofys Barnstormer. Huh? Against all of my park touring knowledge we went there and had a 30 minute wait. You know if you do this later in the night you can walk on and probably ride it over and over again. Well we did it anyway.
Wow, what a thrill ride. I have to admit that it was fun. But if we did it later, it would be a walk on!
The two of them being Goofy on Goofy (Notice the Mickey on DDs face. It made it through the ride)
Since we were in Toon Town we visited Minnie and Mickeys places
Do not know why she had the need to go to Toon Town but what the heck. It was getting close to Wishes time so we moved over to Main Street. It was crowded but we were able to get a good spot close to the Castle. Behind us was packed but this area was pretty open. We were even able to sit on the ground and have an unobstructed view. My thinking was that the rest of the masses staked out further back so they could exit the parks as soon as it was over.
Wishes is my all time favorite fireworks show. Just love it. Tink flew just to the right of us. The picture was all blurry so I did not post it. The castle zip line would be a fun thing to do at least once.
Sitting there with DD and DDBF was nice. No, my eyes did not get misty, it was smoke from the fireworks. Yea, that is what it was.
From there we headed to Tomorrow Land. Buzz was a 40 minute wait and while I wanted to do it, I wasnt going to wait. Next was a quick bite to eat at Cosmic Rays. I love the chicken here and they had fries ($15.94). DD was eyeing my mashed potatoes so I gave what was left of them to her. After a ridiculous time in the bathroom (them not me) I was then headed for Frontier Land to ride Splash and Big Thunder. I assumed they were on the same track but we pass Dumbo and everything comes to a halt.
Dumbo was a 35 minute wait and to me it wasnt worth it. Me: In an hour there will be no one in line. Must have been because they were shut out last time that DD responded zombie like: Must ride Dumbo. Me: Have you forgotten everything I taught you? DD: Must ride Dumbo. So Dumbo it was. For them.
We split up at that point. Telling them to keep in touch, I headed to Haunted Mansion then Splash and Big Thunder. All were good. The final ride for me was the Jungle Cruise. The skipper was OK. From there it was out of the park and on the bus.
I got back to the resort 1ish and they got back after 2:00. Their final ride was also JC. They said they had a good captain but the rest of the group was blah so the two of them became animated. When asked for a response they hooped and hollered while the other people acted like they were at a golf tournament (quiet). They had a good time at the MK and I had a good time.
All in all a good day. Seems I cannot get into commando mode and was content to see what I wanted then chill. They were a little more ambitious. One thing that I forgot to mention was on the way out of the MK I bought a citrus swirl ($3.08). Mmmmm. Love these things. Reminds me of creamsicles when I was a kid.
UP Next: Water Park? OK, by now you know we bagged that idea and did something else.
