Hello,

My family and I are visiting WDW next week.
This includes our 16 month old daughter... who has decided she is going to take a little while longer to learn how to walk.

Of course, we want to take her on some of the rides we know other kids her age have enjoyed... like Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, Small World, etc.. but this means that we will need to hold her while we wait in line (assuming we don't use a FastPass).

She is about 23 lbs, which may sound light...but as many of you have kids know, holding a 23 lb baby for more than a few mins starts to take a toll on the arms.

Has anybody had success using a "baby/toddler backpack" for situations like this? It would obviously have to be something that would be easy to pack away when we got to the front of the line.

Any advice is much appreciated!!!

Ergo!

It's bulky, and we just carried it rather than trying to pack it away, but front (child must face you) or back carry it was great! We used the back carry when DS was around 29 months at Disneyland and Seaworld (and La Jolla and around San Diego). I believe you can also do a hip carry but I could never figure it out.

I had no problems with my 20 mth old DD at the time, Dh and I traded back and forth in long lines but she mostly rode in stroller when not in line. Those toddler backpacks hurt my shoulders!

This just reminded me of the hardship that is ahead for me and my baby :scared1:

I hope he behaves on the rides, otherwhise I`ll turn as red as a lobster

Yeah, Ergo and letting baby walk around while holding your hands to give you a break. I ended up carrying my 18 month old quite a bit and the Ergo was great.

I loved using the Playtex hip hammock. I'm a larger sized person and getting in/out of some of those carriers is quite difficult. With the hip hammock, you snap it around your waist, put daughter on hip, flip the strap over your head/opposite arm and pull the strap. It rolls up into the size of a rolled newspaper. It is meant for older babies/toddlers..I think up to 30 lbs or so.

My little guy was 10 months when we last went and he was a pork chop! I used a baby wrap for him in the lines. It was light and it didn't take up too much space. I could leave it wrapped around me when we went on the rides (Pooh, Snow White, etc).

Maybe you'll get the same dose of Disney magic like we did. He started walking while we were in Disney!
