I'm planning on taking my 18 year old sister and 6 year old cousin to WDW this june. DO you think this is a good idea? Or will the 6 year old not be able to go on rides that we want to (ie..tower of terror, rock n roller coaster, test track, etc...) ALSo, will she need a stroller or is she too old?

the 6 year old should be tall enough for almost all the rides. Check the link on this site that mentions height restrictions. I would think a 6 year old does not need a stroller. However, if she always uses one a the mall, bring it. Remember, you can always rent strollers if she decides she is tired.

Six is one of the best ages to go to WDW. Their imaginations are awesome and she will be totally imersed in the magic!!!!

For rides she can't go on (which should be few) you can always do the Child/Baby swap! If you do a search on this there are many explanations on how this is done.

There is nothing likeseeing WDW through the eyes of a child. It gives you a whole different perspective on it all.

Personally we don't use them, but there are also baby sitting services available if you want to have an adult evening.

Do lots of research on this board. We also liked the "PAssporter" and "WDW with Kids Unoffical Guide." All three were great resources and different perspectives for out trip. we were able to find the information that best fit our DD's personality and planned accordingly.

There are many tips on traveling with kids. If you aren't used to being around them for long periods of time, I wqould heed the advise of parents, and those that are used to traveling with kids. Especially when it comes to breaks, naps, time which you choose to go, etc etc.

Take your cousin and have lots of fun!!

You will have a great time with a 6 year old. As the mom of a 6 year old, I just want to add a couple of things.

First, although the 6 year old might be tall enough for most rides and attractions, that does not mean that they are either appropriate for her age (e.g. Alien Encounter) or her desire. I would never force a child to go on a ride if s/he was not comfortable about it. For example, my DD does not want to experience Tower of Terror, nor does she want to do Rock n Roller Coaster. She is tall enough for both, but ToT would freak her out and RnR's restraint bar knocks short people's heads about -- it hurts! On those kinds of rides, ask to use the "baby swap" (only call it a "kid swap" in front of her). She'll just have to sit out the rides when you and your sister go on them separately.

Second, there is a lot of walking that goes on at the parks. Epcot, especially, is huge. It is very tough to walk it all day and night on full grown legs let alone little 6 year old ones. She might want to start out without a stroller, but when it gets tough and tiring you should get a stroller and use it. It's also helpful for loading backpacks, etc. when you're tired of carrying them.

You're going to have a great time.

This past June my 6 year old rode everything except the Rockn Roller Coaster. There really isn't anything they can't do at 6.

I agree that she's the perfect age. I took my sister last year for her 5th birthday and since we have decided to make it an annual trip we will be doing it again right after she turns 6. I would strongly recommend a stroller. It definitely helped her make it through the day with very little problems. Plus it made the walk to the bus and back to the hotel easy because her legs were still rested.

As for rides, she wasn't tall enough or wouldn't do some of the "thrill rides" ToT, RnRC, Space Mountain, etc last year. Since it was just the two of us, we couldn't do child switch either. As much as I love roller coasters, I don't feel that I missed anything by not riding these two rides. That trip was about her having the time of her life and that she did, which made by trip the best. With your older sister there as well, the child swap would be great for you.

Even if you miss a few rides or have to ride separatly from your sister, your niece is the perfect age. Go for it and ENJOY!!!
