So my family of 3 always takes a Disney vacation every year, 2015 however we will be growing to a family of 4!

I did the math and the time we usually go we will have a 3mo and a 6yr old... Its been so long since I've had an infant I can't really remember how hard going places especially a trip was. Has anybody traveled with a small infant and older child to Disney, we are big ride people and spend all day at the parks. I'm not sure if we should postpone our trip until 2016 or attempt a 2015 one :./

My 3 year old's 1st trip was when he was 4 months old. It was awesome! He was so easy, much easier than the older 2, lol. He nursed, slept and hung out in the carrier the whole time. The only thing, which wasn't a big deal was he wasn't sleeping through the night at that age, which I thought he would've been because the other kids slept through at 2 months old. Other than that...great trip! Just bring extra clothes to the parks (for baby and parents...just in case you get spit up on you) extra bibs for the drooling/spit up. Babies at that age really don't need much. We're "in the park all day" people too..it's doable. Have fun! And BTW, we're planning on going next October, with another 4 month old, lol. :cool1:

This post sounds like my life! My kids will be the same age and I'm worried about the same things! We have a 5.5hr flight over to DL and I'm actually most worried about that as well as the heat. Lmk how it goes!

I'd take a baby over a toddler any day! We took my youngest at 9 months and again at almost 2. He was a nightmare the second trip. He refused to sit in the stroller and was way too big for the carrier I'd brought. He only wanted me to carry him too so if DH was carrying him, I had to be several steps behind hiding in the crowd! As long as you go when the weather is cool, the baby will be fine!

As a family of four, we have gone every year. We were surprised to find out earlier this year that our 2015 annual trip would be as a family of five! :p

When we go in April, our baby (due in 2 weeks) will be 3.5 months old. We are excited to take him. We plan on mostly having him in a carrier while in the parks, and we are not really worried about bringing a baby. All they do at that age is eat and sleep so.....that's pretty easy to take care of. I think it's going to be a great trip...alot better than this years trip when I was 19 weeks pregnant in August. :crazy2:

We are going in February with a 10 month old And. 5.5 year old. My youngest will be fairly easy as she isn't mobile yet (not crawling yet). She's content in the stroller and the ergo when needed. If you do the carrier thing, get them used to it ahead of time so it's not new. We will be using a backpack as a diaper bag instead of our usual so we can fit stuff for everyone in it during the days in the parks. Just knowing we may need to be more flexible to accommodate each kids needs is fine with us. We've planned our fast passes so we aren't in the parks all day either.

I took my kids at 9 and 10 months and it was great! They were way easier than the toddler stage.

My only hesitation for a baby under 4 months would be- Colic. You will know by the time the baby is a month or so old. I am not talking a little fussy. I am talking "my arms are being ripped out" screaming inconsolable crying for 3+ hours every single night and a fussy wreck every day. This was my son and there is NO way we could have traveled with him at that age. I mean, he cried all day long. During the day, I could settle him down but the evenings were a beast. He started his screaming from 7-midnight and around 2.5 months-3.5 months it switched from 5-10pm. This was every night until 3 months and then 3-4 nights a week until about 3.5/4 months. I don't say this to scare you- I read somewhere that only 10% of babies have some form of true colic (defined as 3 hours of straight inconsolable crying, 3 or more nights a week, starting at 3 weeks old- ending around 3 months). If the baby can be consoled using tricks of the trade, the baby is fussy- not colicky, in my opinion. Anyway, as long as you can refund any tickets if you are blessed with a colicky baby, go for it. My daughter would have been a piece of cake at 4 months! If not, I would wait until at least 6 months.

So one thing to consider- at 3 months your little one might not be sitting. Which means a carrier snap on the stroller. And a body carrier for carrying into restaurants. Unless the baby is sleeping you won't be allowed into the the restr with the stroller. Even then there is no guarantee, it's just more likely...

We just did a trip with a 4 month old and toddler. The baby was so much easier! I wish we would have had a stroller with bassinet attachment to bring into restaurants though. We ended up holding her thru most meals. The majority of sit down restaurants did let us bring our giant double stroller in even when she wasn't sleeping - just look haggard. :-) But some places can't do this (Biergarten, for instance) so think thru a stroller-less meal plan. If we had only had the baby we could have done rope drop to close in the parks because she would nap easily in the stroller. My toddler however was only good for a half day at a time.

I think the time of year comes into play as well. Hot summer would be more difficult to keep an infant safe and comfortable and flu and RSV season could put a little one at risk. Fall or late spring could work well. I would also recommend that that first series of immunizations be completed as well. WDW is a melting pot of cultures and people who may or may not have the same immunization thoughts. Im not really sure what that time frame is anymore as our baby is 8 and we delayed and gave our boy's at a slower rate than the set timeline. Travel itself would not be difficult with a good stroller and a nice carrier. Our family rule is 6mo, but three months could be done safely. I would spring for insurance in case you did get one of those colic babies. We had one and it was horrible. No way could we had taken him. Other baby rarely cried and was soooo easy;).

I took both my kids when they were 3 months old (last week of my maternity leave before going back to work). Easiest trips ever!

Honestly, we had way more issues with my then 6.5 year old on the trip my youngest was 3 months. We went back when youngest was 8 months and he was still super easy and content...just a bit heavier to carry around. Now he is 2 and whoa....those infant trips were a dream compared to him now. He's still lots of fun, but toddlers/2 year olds are NOT easy like the infant trips were!
