We have been planning on going to Disney again in February with our 5 children. Their ages at the time of the trip would be 9, 8, 6, 2, and 9 months. Is this crazy? Can it be done? My husband wants to wait a little longer but ultimately it is up to me. I feel like it can be done we just have to go slower than usual. Any thoughts or tips?

I don't think your crazy but we might be! We are going in October with 4 kids, ages 7, 2 and 3 month old twins.

Oh, you are not crazy at all!!!

Unless of course we are crazy too....we have been the past two summers with our five children. This past summer they were...10, 9, 7, 5 & 2 yrs old.

We stayed at the Ft. W cabins - lots of room, full kitchen, large bathroom, pull van right to door - is was very reasonable(more affordable than 2 rooms).

You may want to go soon because your when your 9yo turns 10 he/she will be considered an adult, and any children under age 3 are free, so your 2yo will be free.

Good luck.:D

We have only stayed at the All Star Resorts and will be there again in October. How would you compare 2 rooms at the All Star vs a FW Cabin? (Cost, space, etc...)

My opinion is the only 'crazy' people are the ones who don't go.

Have fun, be patient, enjoy!

As the parent of only one child I can't imagine having 5 kids. I say if you can raise 5 kids and still have time to ask this question on the dis boards....you are more than ready!!!!

Go for it!!!

I say - Go for it and have a great trip!!!! You're thinking about going at a "slow" time anyway, and the weather should be nice!

Have fun!!!

I think the 9, 8, and 6 year olds will be no problem whatsoever. The 2 youngers will be the challenge, but as long as you have either a carrier/stroller or a double stroller for the two of them and do things at their pace, you will be fine.

I am so used to dealing with my 3 by myself while DH is working--trips to school, soccer, music lessons, grocery store, dr., etc etc--that whenever we go somewhere as a family, it seems like a piece of cake!! Just having another adult to help makes it no problem to me.

Have fun!!!!!

I'll join in on the crazy train!!! We are taking all 5 of our little munchkins in Nov...our first trip on our AP's. Our kids are almost the exact same ages as yours!! 9, 7, 5, 3, and 6 months.

You're exactly right on taking it slow. That is the key. If the kids get cranky take them for a rest. You'll all be much happier! Some people think we're crazy for taking them to Disney. I know that it will only get more difficult to take vacations the older they get (between school, activities, etc.), so we're doing it now as much as we can.

Wouldn't it be great if we could have a meet someday!!

We took our 6 kids in December. The 3 month old did slow us down a bit because he was still nursing. I agree that the 2 year old and 9 month old will slow you down a bit but I would never turn down the opportunity to go. Just lower everyone's expectations about what can be accomplished. We just took it slow and had a lot of non-park days. Have fun and be flexible!

I have five kids as well, they will be 12, 10, 9, 5, 5, when we go on our next trip to WDW. Just be patient and you all will have a great time together. Having five kids, you are used to some chaos on a regular basis, so you will be fine.

Mom of Five here!

We took our 5 in March 2003 and WE'RE GOING BACK in Oct!!!
They will be 10, 9, 8, 7, and 5 (turning 6 on trip).
We just told them tonight and videotaped it--lots of jumping around and screaming--very fun!

You'll have a great time. Just take your time and take breaks during the day. Yes, leave the parks and go swimming in the hotel pool!

We just went the first week of August with our 5 children. They are 11, 10, 7, 6 and 4. Their trip first and it was awsome. The three youngest shared the double stroller by taking turns.

You can get a discount on the stroller if you prepurchase a certain amount of days in a row. We rented for 6 days and got a 10% discount and a Disney Dollar back each day we turned in our last stroller in the park we finished in. Also, if there is a long line in the stroller rental area you can go to the gift shop register next to the stroller rental and pay there (usually not a line). Magic Kingdom is where we started our rental. You can also turn in any unused days to get that money refunded in full.

Hope this was clear, my wife says I speak a different language somethimes.

Thanks for the stroller info, i didnt know about the discount. I will definately do it that way. Glad your kids had fun on their first trip.

I say Go for it! I don't think there is ever a "perfect" time to go. Our kids will be 9,7,7,4,2 when we go in November. My DH and I always "divide and conquer" for part of the trip. One of us taking the two younger ones back for naps/rest/swim and the other taking the older ones to do stuff the little ones won't appreciate as much (Disney Quest, Typoon Lagoon etc). Makes it more relaxing and saves us a little money. My little ones are just as happy in one of those fountains like the one at Downtown Disney as they would be at Blizzard Beach!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement! We are definitely going to go! I told my husband if we keep waiting for the perfect time to go we won't ever go. We haven't been since 2001 and I am having big time Disney withdrawl :) I am more than happy to sit out some of the bigger rides and just hang out with the little ones. As long as I'm in Disney I'll be happy!!!! I'm glad to hear there are so many others with large families and little ones doing Disney.
