Disney Wish Was Disappointing

I thought it was telling that Pete's positive opinions were largely on upcharge experiences (Enchante excluded)

I'd really like Pete to stay in a non concierge cabin and NOT pay for the spa or any specialty dining and THEN give his opinion.

That's fair, given that people do generally seem to be saying you have a very different experience on this ship sailing concierge, and have much more access to experiences and preferred locales.

One of the original posts talks about characters still social distancing. I thought that stopped as of April 18th? Are other cruises still social distancing characters as well?

That's fair, given that people do generally seem to be saying you have a very different experience on this ship sailing concierge, and have much more access to experiences and preferred locales.
But that's true on every Disney ship. Concierge guests get to book activities first, concierge guests get first access to theater seats, concierge guests get onto the ship first and off the ship first, concierge guests get free drinks and snacks throughout the day and popcorn at the shows, concierge guests have their own lounge and sundeck.

The Wish has more concierge rooms, which makes booking some activities a bit harder for non-concierge guests and the new concierge sundeck has its own small pool. But otherwise, it's the same as before.

And excluding and paid-for activities doesn't make sense. Why shouldn't the spa count as part of the overall experience? Should we also exclude Palo, Enchante, Inside Out: Joyful Sweets, alcoholic drinks, bingo, the shops, and anything else that you might pay for on the ship?

I got off the Wish August 1st. It was our second Disney cruise and we loved the ship! We have no kids and in our early 30s. The only complaint I had was that they almost lost my luggage. In the end I was able to find it at guest services and they gave us a Rose bottle for our troubles. Awesome food and great service all around.
Just curious, with the Maiden voyage it seemed as though most reported the adults areas were small.

Did you encounter any issues with crowding/capacity restrictions in the adults only areas on your cruise?

My point is that you shouldn't be judging a new cruise ship on the experience you get as a "1% er."

The criticisms of the ship are mostly that it lacks enough adult spaces, lacks hot tubs and shaded deck spaces, it lacks snacks at the cove Cafe and other coffee bars, etc. You get ALL that stuff as a concierge guest, so of course people sailing concierge won't have those same criticisms. When you have a staff of people at your disposal and extra spaces available to just a few guests, you tend to not have the same experience as the rest of the ship.

This is like reviewing a day at WDW and paying for a VIP guide and giving your impressions of the day as though you were experiencing it the same way every other guest does. It's misleading.

A cruise ship should be reviewed on everything they offer, of course. But I am willing to bet that most people want to know what the experience is like for the MAJORITY of guests, not the minority with fat wallets.

Review the spa separately. Review the upcharge dining separately.

Exactly. I like how Craig usually brings it back to the "other" folks (non concierge). What
their issues or questions may be. After all that is the majority of the ship. I also noticed Pete
hesitated and chose his words carefully describing the experience.

Nothing wrong with liking/loving the ship. I love reviews that give positive and negatives. People
would just like to know in this age of Covid PLUS economy if it might be worth it at the premium PRICE
they are paying.

*I thought his Enchante review was brutally honest. He sure didn't hold back there. I don't
even think I could have been as scathing. lol

And for a cruise ship, specifically, since it's typically sold as an "all inclusive" type vacation, it is fair to know what the experience is when you only consider what is included in the price you pay upfront. Add ons are nice, and as I said, should definitely be reviewed in isolation, but it needs to be discussed what the experience is that Disney is selling at the price they are offering it. Concierge is an upgrade, as is club level at a WDW resort. They should be taken as separate reviews.

the Maiden voyage was almost all adults and most if not all of those were veteran DCL cruisers. The experience might be different on a regular cruise. Gonna find out. I'm not in concierge but am doing Palo and Enchante (every cruise ship I have ever been on had upcharge restaurants. I do the upcharge restaurants. I don't do the spa or play bingo)

We went up there once to look at it and it did seem smaller. We tend to stay inside the ship so the area being smaller doesn’t bother us. I still had a great time just wished they had a 7 nighter.

I hate to break it to you all. I may get down voted until oblivion this is our latest Disney cruise and definitely the best. The hate comes from the new design period personally i love it. Yes the adult area could use some work other then that no complaints besides the SW lounge i may face scrutiny for thinking this but this is how we feel. We personally will book a few more cruises on the boat i don't think the hate is warranted at all. But I do think that change scares people this is the long and short of it.

Why was it the best cruise for you?

Happy that you're enjoying your cruise. Don't know why you think you know why others like or dislike something or that their opinion isn't valid, but that's just me.

Never said it was invalid.just don't see the fuss I've seen. It's not just here.i also realize it's a problem that I'm on the disboards on this slow but cheaper connection but i think that's a different thread all together 😂PXL_20220806_204417817.jpg

Others did, hence the comments they made.

You won't get down voted. This isn't like reddit. Most here can agree to disagree and move on.

Looking at the picture you posted I can almost smell the new paint and the "newness" overall. Lol
I love that smell. That shot of Nassau is nice. How is the weather? Is it humid? (Will be there soon).

Have a coworker on the ship right now also. She texted me she is having a good time. Although she
said ship had issues but she didn't get into it.
