Disney Wish maiden voyage & Animal Farm

The Dream has always been their money maker. It brings in a lot of first-time cruisers. It was our first cruise and what got us hooked. It makes sense to me. I'm guessing the Fantasy or Dream will go to Europe in 2023,
I'd sign up in a second. Maybe I am weird but I prefer the Dream/Fantasy class of ships and would love to spend a good chunk of time on there! :D

Do we think folks can book more than one cruise on the Platinum/Gold/Silver day? Say someone wants to book a back-to-back, that is technically two bookings. Just curious if this will be limited to booking one room on one cruise. I've never tried to book more than one cruise on opening day.

We are Platinum with 15 nights so we fall into the 3rd booking window. I've asked our TA (Tracey at Dreams) to try to book us in a veranda cabin on the inaugural cruise. Scared of the price, but hey....

If we get it, can you imagine the terminal when its time to check in? I'm guessing that pretty much everybody sailing will be Platinum and that check in station will be overwhelmed.
Platinum, 34 DCL cruises, and sent Tracy, our DU TA, our information yesterday. Our first DCL Cruise was in 2004, for DH’s 60th birthday. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to book a MV. DH has sailed 29 DCL cruises. :goodvibes :boat:

I am also thrilled that it will not interfere with our DCL EBTA next May!

I know you said you sent your info over but did she respond..? I'd messaged mine at Dreams as well (a different agent) and still haven't heard back. It was a different one from my usual TA there; mine had been on vacation so this one said she'd add me to her list when I inquired a few weeks ago... at this point I'm not sure I trust her to be on top of things though.

I don’t see why not. We have routinely booked b2b cruises on opening day, trying to guarantee that we would have the same stateroom for both legs. Generally worked, except for the Hawaii cruises next year where we will have to change stateroom for the Hawaii to Vancouver portion. Waited too long on hold when doing that booking because we were using placeholders so had to call to book rather than booking online. All of the Wish bookings will have to be online, so that’s not a factor.

Yes, Tracey responded. But I had been corresponding with her before the announcement.

Yeah, I admit I was a little confused why she said she'd add me to her list rather than let my usual agent know. I've heard them say they go with whomever gets through first on booking sometimes when it is slammed so thought well, maybe I'm on a master list or something and it won't matter so much. I guess if I don't hear next week I'll plan on doing it online (my day is when its open online anyway).

Awe, I would love to try the MV but I am a lowly Silver (would have been Gold by now though if not for Covid).
Plus, since the MV is in the summer, there will be lots of weddings and I wouldn't be one of the first few to get married on it (heart is set on Winter wedding). Bummer :(

Well, wish me luck that there is a fluke and there will still be availability by the time Silver gets to book.

I'm only gold, but I don't see a problem with it. It makes sense to me. The platinum group has gotten large enough to warrant this.
Agree. I'm gold, and all of the Platinum would have booked before us anyway so its no difference to gold/silver. I think they'll have to restructure at some point to differentiate Platinum, although the fact that the early groups have to phone in to me means that they aren't planning this long term yet since its likely because the website doesn't recognize anything but "Platinum" (ie doesn't know the different levels in the chart). If they're not rebuilding the website for the different levels, I'd guess its just for this.

I think the DVC Members Cruise is immediately after the MV? If someone was mega-platinum and DVC the B2B could be possible.

Have you heard back yet? We have heard from Tracey.

Ok, I just found my invoices for the Dream MV back on January 26, 2011 so 10 years ago. We also booked the cruise immediately following so I will breakdown the fares of both cruises so you can compare the MV price with a "regular price" We had different cabins on the two cruises in slightly different Oceanview categories.

1/26/2011 - Dream MV - 4 night Bahamas (booked on 11/4/2009)
Category 9B - Cabin 2004
$1,030.00 - cruise fare per person
$166.17 - taxes and fees per person
$1,196.17 x 2 = $2,392.34 total cruise price for 2 people

1/30/2011 - Dream 4 night Bahamas (booked on 11/23/2009)
Category Cat 9A - Cabin 8504
$594.00 - cruise fare per person
$168.72 - taxes and fees per person
$762.72 x 2 = $1,525.44 total cruise price for 2 people

We were Platinum back then so our TA probably booked us on the first day for the MV but I honestly don't remember how they did it back then.

I am trying to extrapolate and figure out what the Wish MV (which is a 5 night) may be price wise but I just can't wrap my head around it. Any guesses?

No, I never did. I almost emailed again but now I'm conflicted as to whether I try the same one, or my original Dreams TA I was trying to contact in the first place.... or if I should just let it go and book on my own since I know now I can do it online.

Well and those were in January... this will be June. Prices have at least doubled over the last 10 years, plus the summer surge, plus the markup... :faint:

so looks like around 50% more on your cruises.

I know....I keep thinking how prices have gone up. Hawaii 2022 10 day was $2,590.00 per person cruise fare for a 9B (not including port fees) on opening day so I am hoping it won't be much more than that but who knows!!!

MJ

I posted the below on the Wish Pricing thread and am reposting here as well. This is my guess and it's way more than 50%!

Not counting the slight category difference, the MV was approximately 73% more than the cruise that followed. If we extrapolate that from a four night to a five night, the price would have been $1139 (assuming the ppn held stable from a 4 night to a 5 night). That would make the 5 night MV approximately 91% more than the 4 night regular sailing. At least that's my best guess based on this data (thanks @mmouse37!).

So, it's probably fair to guess that the MV will be 100% more than the cost of a regular 4 night cruise.

My family of are seriously considering trying to go on the Maiden. We have a few issues:

1.We are only Gold Castaway so I’m not certain how much inventory will be left

2. Our youngest just turned 10 today and has muscular dystrophy and even now is using a wheelchair for long distances. By next summer he will be using it more so we really need an accessible room. I don’t know if that helps us or hurts our chances.

I know we can afford the cruise but shudder to even think about the cost.

I was pleasantly surprised today to see that the Aqua Mouse appears to not have a stair climb to get on it. My son was always too small to ride the Aqua Duck on our Fantasy and Dream cruises and just trying to think about how to get him up the stairs was stressing me out.
Do you have friends who are platinum that you would be sailing with? You could have them book two platinum rooms and put one of them in each room then add your family to them. They don’t care where you sleep.

I would contact the original TA saying something like “... I hope you enjoyed your time off! Just checking that So-and-So let you know I want to book...”
