Disney Wish maiden voyage & Animal Farm

Platinum here. I don't have a problem with how DCL has set it up. I am, definitely, not in the top tier.

I was just discussing with my husband that if we had been able to cruise our cancelled cruises in the past year, we would have been able to book 1 day earlier. But that's just how it goes.

We are also not going to book the inaugural cruise.

But I hope that those who want it will be able to book it.
:thumbsup2

I was booked for fantasy MV. They reached out when it went a week earlier and offered us to change it or keep. So it wasn’t like we were out if we didn’t do it.
Also we had an excellent experience on the MV and I was worried after reading the dream horror stories. Much of those issues were fixed since ships were identical.
But I do understand with all new restaurants and some mix of new and old crew. But still would be fun and for five nights!

The fact that it's 5 nights is the really cool, and one reason I think it will sell out before it gets to gold cruisers. 3 and 4 night cruises are too short in my opinion, but I would want to take a 5 night on the Wish, even with the snoozy Bahamas itinerary. There would be enough new things to do on the ship, and 5 nights are enough to explore most of it.

I'm platinum with 12, my wife has 13. While it would be great for all Platinum CC members to be able to book on opening day, I think this is a fair way to do it. If you've got 25 or more cruises, more power to you. I get the argument about nights vs trips vs $ spent, but someone will always lose out in those debates. I hope this doesn't become permanent. but if it does, I'll deal with it. For us, this is purely academic as we can't do the MV anyway. But I have been able to snag highly sought after rooms for HI and other cruises. If this format holds, that likely won't be the case in the future.

Wait - did this chart change? I could have sworn I saw an earlier version that lumped Golds and Silvers together..... 🤔

I’m disappointed they’re going to use the new ship to run 3 and 4 night Bahamas cruises. I was hoping they would run 7 night voyages to new/different Caribbean ports. We’ve been on the Dream for similar cruises and it’s too short of a trip to enjoy the ship!

Im guessing gold will get to book. Could be completely wrong. If it gets to DVC I’d be shocked but who know. the price, Nassau combined with it being school time could have an impact.

I agree. No interest in a 3 or 4 night cruise or any Bahamas cruise. I’ll wait until they offer 7 nights on the Wish.

Texas and Oklahoma are usually out by then. Not sure of other states.

On the famous novel by G. Orwell, it is said that: "All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others"
Turns out, DCL took that quote to heart.

Looks like for the Wish maiden voyage, there will be booking categories among Platinum castaway club members.
Maiden voyage booking opens for the general public on may 27
And for platinums on May 17th. But only for *some* platinums.
Platinums with 25+ sailings = May 17th
20+ sailings = May 18th
15+ sailings = May 19th
Rest of the platinum peasants = May 20th

All platinums are equal, but some are more equal than others.

Being a peasant, there goes our Dream of doing the maiden voyage.
It will only be for DCL royalty.

Thoughts?

Finally, DCL is giving me a perk for sailing 23 times with them. Thanks, but no thanks. I'm not interested in the MV.

I just saw this breakdown, we are praying to finally get to do our Greece cruise in July 2022, so I wouldn't be booking the maiden voyage, but yikes I would have to wait 3 days to even try.
I should be trying to plan it as a platinum with 23 cruises, thanks Covid.
Exactly. I'd probably be at 26 cruises right now with my European cruises completed. I'd be all over the MV if that was the case, but nope I'm going to Europe next Summer.

Well, my husband and I are both platinum with 20 cruises. We do not plan to book (unless someone wants to pay and we book 2 rooms for them and us 😀.) I think it's nice to reward the most loyal/long-standing customers first. I suspect many will not be jumping to get on the maiden voyage.

EDIT: Chill - it was a joke. I didn’t think anyone would take that comment seriously.

Are you really trying to sell your CC advantages? :confused3:confused3

As you said it is meant to be a reward for loyal customers, not to make profit off.

edit: spelling of customer

Its going to be a zoo! There will be vloggers and bloggers willing to sell a kidney to share a room with a platinum guest (they can't book and resell thier rooms this time - a good thing) or trying to get a photo with a wooden looking Bob Chapek.

DCL will realise within about an hour they dodnt build enough pool space and the line for the star wars bar will snake around 3 decks probably.

That said, we will try and book.... price dependant - im sure we will be massively priced out. I dobt expect it to be enjoyable - but it will be nice to be part of history. I think the best inaugural to be on will be ship 3.... hopefully by then things will have calmed down.

Much of the Deep South is out before Memorial Day. In Louisiana, we’re done on May 21 this year.

Given that these states are also the ones filled with people who can easily drive to PC, I really have a hard time seeing how Golds will get a crack at the MV.

Sure there will be some Plats who balk at the price, the deposit, etc., but there will be more than enough who don’t care, and the MV will be filled with nothing but Platinums.

Going slightly off topic, and from a purely theoretical pov, as I have never cruised...

Other than the thrill of being first, what are the advantages of a maiden voyage? Usually with shows, restaurants etc it's a trial period, soft opening... Just seems like a lot of money when things are not yet optimized.

Thanks in advance for explaining 😊

Sorry if I highjack the thread but... This... + the number of suites (and over the top two story suites) advertized: I feel more and more like DCL is trying to exclude the middle class from their ship (And parks!)

As a business, they are entitled to do whatever they want... But it’s sad when people who used to be able to afford them cannot do it anymore.
