Disney website - someone should be fired

I'm actually enjoying their new website. The old one never worked, never showed reservations, and was all around horrible. I have yet to run into any issues with the new one.

I would love to enjoy the website, and I think I will someday..I see a lot of potential. Just wish that "someday" happens soon.

YES!!! thats all I get when I try to log in to make ADR's. I thought I would give it a practice run before my actual calling date (which is actually later this morning) and so glad I did. I would have wasted sooo much time trying to make the ADRs on line. I would prefer to do that (make them on line) if I could but all I get is just what you describe..."the spinning circle of doom".

So I gave up on booking the ADRs on line and will be calling at 7a.m.

THE SITE STINKS :mad::mad:
Sorry, just had to get that off my mind. As a PP said, how could a company as large as Disney have such a poor internet site....:scared:

Karen :)

I am sorry that you are having the same issue because I know how frustrating it is but I am glad that I am not the only one!

That spinning circle of doom is terrible.

Anyone with a Mac - have you tried using the website with Chrome or Firefox instead of Safari? Any website that is already terrible just seems to be even worse with Safari. Safari has a lot of problems that Apple just doesn't bother to fix.

Fwiw, I can only use the website WITH safari. Chrome and Firefox give me nothing.

Though I will say that it seems to change every couple of days. Some days it works and some days it doesn't.

Agreed that someone should have gotten in trouble for this mess.

I haven't had to use the Disney website for some time now so I've avoided all the current issues. That said, there have ALWAYS been issues with absolutely everything. I have never come across a site that is continuously experiencing problems, malfunctioning, not functioning, error messages ...... as much as I have with the Disney site. On any given day, I almost expect something not to work. The only thing I have consistently found to work flawlessly is running up a quote and making any form of payment ... go figure.

Intriguingly, one of the things NOT quite working is taking payments, LOL.

This is more than the usual not working...this is a complete and total change of the website. The look, the feel, the whole concept of links looking like links, it's all changing.

I just found out during our trip that the IT people are based on Seattle (b/c a CM we met has a husband who just interviewed with them), and now I'm even MORE bewildered. There's a pretty big online company that has a pretty darned good website up here, and I bet if they looked hard they could find IT people that worked on it to work on theirs!

My Mac hasn't been the cause of problems as far as I can tell, but for other sites I call the spinning circle the "beachball of death". :)

I haven't visited the site in a while since all my ADRs have been made (via phone since I couldn't make any on the website!) and my reservation was paid for (also over the phone).

I logged on today because my trip is a week from tomorrow and I wanted to double check everything. I figured it had been weeks since I last logged on so surely most of the bugs have been worked out. WRONG!

The site just cannot be used at all on my Mac. It freezes Safari up no matter what I try to do and I have to force quit. I have cleared cookies, the cache, browsing history, restarted. Nothing works. Has anyone else had the issue of constantly getting the spinning circle of doom trying to navigate the site on a Mac?

It freezes up on safari for me too. I use Firefox to navigate there now :(

Well I can't even get onto it at all now, no matter what browser I use. On Chrome it tells me I don't have the most up to date version of Adobe Flash Player. It then directs me to a link to install it. Tried that anyway for what it was worth and it stated that I already have the most up to date version ..... can't even log in :clown:

Hmmm. I am using a Mac and Safari and the website is working for me now. A week or more ago there were problems but the issues seemed to be resolved for me, along with a bunch of other DVCers, last week. I can now use MDE and the DVC member site without problems. And the iPad app is recognizing my reservations now also, without having to enter them manually. Both my March and April trips are showing up fine and I was able to do online checkin for both. I am using Safari 6.0.2 and OS 10.8.2.
That being said, I find that Disney websites are long on glitz and short on functionality.

Since I asked a question on a previous post and received the answer I was hoping to hear, I have another question. I hope it's not already been posted on this thread but here goes.. When making a dining reservation, does anyone recall the page on the old site that pulled up all restaurants, in alphabetical order, with available times for the window you were searching? Then there was a line and below that all restaurants, in alphbetical order that had no times available. It made checking for a specific/different restaurant or another time so EASY! I can not seem to duplicate finding it anywhere :confused3. Also, is there an easier way to book, say a Fantasmic! dining package? It seemed like I had to take three steps to get to the page to try and book it! I find it all too tedious when trying to book ADR's at 180.:scared1:

while i have been just as frustrated with website issues from time to time when trying to book or look up info, i can also only imagine what kind of a challenge it is for the IT dept at Disney. imagine having a website with so many features and needing to allow God knows how many people to access it and make ressies and cancellations

Very perceptive. The sad reality is that there's really no way you can "beta test" a worldwide site on the scale of this Disney project and even begin to approach real-world volume. You can get kinda close, get some general idea, but until you put the thing out there in front of the real, ugly world, you're stuck with what in-house testing can give you.

I have no doubt that there are numerous IT folks at Disney on their umpteenth roll of Tums and bottle of Pepto over this mess. Surely they've had it beaten into their heads that the new site has to work, and literally means lost dollars in the bank if people aren't booking vacations and dinners.

I see that part of this new site is to leverage social media, "sharing" your plans and such, but I'm not sure what real-world percentage of users will actually use it that way. To a degree, much of what they're working to provide seems a solution in search of a problem. Just give me a place to book a hotel, and make a payment, and go from there. If that part doesn't work, who cares about the rest?

I'm a Quality Assurance Analyst (software tester) in "real life" and I really wish Disney would hire me! ;)

Wow is this site godawful. Many complain about making ADRs but I've always liked the planning part of Disney -- felt like it was part of the fun. But man, making these reservations today, or actually trying to and repeatedly having failures, I'm starting to think...maybe we should try Discovery Cove this year. Maybe a day at Universal is a good idea. After all I have two days without any ADRS right now, where I'd be stuck hoping for good counter service or cancellations or that I decide I want to fast on vacation.

I needed to cancel an ADR and had to call, because it wasn't listed on the website at all. So I called and turns out that there were two ADR's I needed to cancel, because obviously when I tried to cancel one before on the new site it didn't work. Then the girl on the phone couldn't find the one ADR I wanted to keep. She finally found it. Told me that I should always use the same email address, and I said I did. It's the fact that if you log in with a member name, it creates a separate account and then if you log in with the email instead, then you have two accounts and their software is not connecting the two. It's crazy and my husband works in IT, and he was saying how crazy it was. I hope they fix it soon.

When I've seen this message before on Chrome, it could mean that your version of Flash is actually newer than what the problem web site wants to see. For example, if it's never been updated past version 9 (pulling numbers out of the air) but you have version 11 installed, all the web site will see is that it doesn't recognize your version as one that it can access. The default message is that you're out of date.

Good luck.

I just wish that Disney would stop requiring credit cards if ADR's are going to be so messed up online. Even with calling to confirm my Jiko ADR was not there when I arrived at aoa. I had cancelled some others that I expect will show up on my credit cards. Really frustrating.

It is actually, unbelievably, much worse than the old piece of crap they called a website. It is astounding to me how a company so customer focused, built on innovation and the user experience, can have such an awful site..

Personally, for me, I have tried over and over to add existing dining reservations to My Disney Experience. Each time,I enter them, click done, it seems to go through and then they never appear in my account.

So frustrating!

And, for the poster defending Disney saying they can't possibly beta test the volume, I call " foul". Maybe they couldn't replicate volume and predict a crash but they certainly could have worked out the bugs people are having with duplicate accounts, system not recognizing manually entered reservations and user feedback would have easily told them how awful just booking a dining reservation is. It is 10x harder to book a dining reservation under the new system than it was before ( and it wasn't even easy before)
