There are 3 things I like about having a Disney Visa.
1. Having a cool looking card with Mickey on it.
2. Getting the first shot at discounts like free dining. (the public got the same thing a few days later)
3. Getting 0% for 6 months on vacation packages.
Other than that, it's really not a good rewards card. You don't get bonus points on Disney purchases. It's just a straight 1%. Almost all other rewards cards give you double or triple points on certain purchases(like paying for a room at the Hilton with your Hilton credit card), so you actually have an opportunity to accrue some worthwhile rewards. And even without the bonus points, you can get a lot more value out of other hotel or airline cards.
Disney Visa = 1% value
Most airline cards = 2%
Many hotel cards = 2-5%
So even though I have the Disney Visa and will keep it, I put almost all my purchases on my Starwood Amex card.
If I spend 40k on my Disney Visa, I get $400.
If I spend 40k on my Starwood, I get 5 nights at the Swan/Dolphin or even at the Sheraton Times Square. So that 40k gets me anywhere between $1000 and $1500 of value instead of $400.
