I know that few people say anything nice about the Disney Visa. BUT, we leave in 7 days and I just transferred this month's reward dollars to the card. We'll be going to the World with 1005 Disney Visa Dollars! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

did I read that right ~ $1005 Disney dollars??? Wow ~ that's great!! I was psyched about our (estimated) $300 for our trip this August!
I really like Disney Visa, BTW. I know others disagree, but I have nothing bad to say.

I am not disappointed yet.....have only had mine for 2 months and have already accumulated $75 plus the $25 gift certificate. Still have 6 more billing cycles before we go!!!

I like it, too. I know you can get higher rates on some other cards, but since I KNOW I will have a Disney expense each year, I like having a little extra for each trip. I also have an NWA card, but now that I've got the miles I need for the first class to Hawaii, I don't need to use it anymore, so back to Disney dollars. And, my DH uses a GM card, but it maxes out at $500 per year, so we max it out each year, then... BACK TO DISNEY!

But I'm jealous of that $1005... although ours would be almost half that if I hadn't used our dollars earlier this year to pay some of my DVC dues (which is a BIG perk for DVC owners).

I am so jealous, I am saving my DD to pay for our AP's in August. I am up to 400 , every little bit helps. ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

How do y'all accumulate points so fast? Do you pay your monthly bills with the visa or do you just make that many purchases?

I'm at $635.00 for our December 25-31 trip and hope to pay the 2 nights at Poly GVC with this ( have 7 months more to accrue). the other 4 nights are at OKW using our DVC points..the poly is the disney visa splurge! Gotta love it. Last trip we had extra $265.00 which went directly to meals and fun stuff!

I pay with it everywhere I possibly can. At the end of each month I pay the balance. I kind of use it like a debit card. Groceries, some bills, etc. I've heard some people actually use it to pay their mortgage! Wow! Talk about piling up the dollars. Before you know it you can have 500 or 700 Disney Dollars accumulated!

I use mine for all my monthly household expenses like groceries, kids stuff, shopping, etc... then pay it off at the end of the month. Then, whenever we go on our Disney trip I use my Visa to play for everything during our trip.

I even charge my son's college tuition along with all my bills. The points add up real fast. I put gas, food, and drugstore purchases on a citicard though for the 5% and then I get a check and put it in my orange account which is a savings for Disney. I do anything I can to help pay for my obsession. What a great obsession it is though. :goodvibes :goodvibes
And I always pay if off when the statement comes in.

And now we can get cool new cards with the characters on them! Since Chase bought BankOne they are sending out new cards and you can call and order one with characters! :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Do you only get the 1 point for every 100 dollars charged still? Do they ever offer more than 1 point (special monthly offers, etc). If they don't, how long did it take you to accumulate these points? $1000 in Disney cash seems like a ton to me! Wondering if it's worth signing up.

I've never seen anything but the 1:100 ratio (unfortunately). You know, I must have been under a ROCK somewhere. I NEVER thought about paying stuff like my mortgage with my Disney Visa. The points would TOTALLY add up much more quickly!!!! I'm going to go change all my monthly bills to my Disney Visa so I can play too!!! I'm going with a measly $102 but next time maybe I'll be up there in the $1000 range!!! I love you guys--you always have the BEST info!

I have thought about paying my mortgage etc with the Disney Visa too, but I could never find a place where I could enter my card info so I assumed it could not be done. I'm going to have to look into that now!

triplefigs
occasionaly they will offer triple points on certain purchases over a certain $ amount, but the minimum amount needed is usually very high. For example ~ triple points on grocery store purchases over $1000 in one billing period (those terms aren't exactly what was offered, but you get the idea) I have only seen the offer one time and it seemed ridiculous to me. So basically, you can get $1 for every $100 spent and occasionaly special offers for vacations (onboard credit for DCL, 0% for 6 months on Disney vacations) and merchandise.
Right now they are offering $50 reward dollars for opening a new account and using ther card before June 30. That's how I got mine last year ~ can't beat $50 for free!!

I use mine for basically everything....household bills and shopping expenses. Then every Friday I pay it of with a check online.

I don't have anywhere near that much (My gosh, that's $100,500 you've spent!!), but I do pay all my bills each month with my DV. I'll have some points for our trip in Sept. I ordered the new card with the castle on it! It was a hard choice, the mickey and friends was cute also! I love my Disney Visa!

My DV is paying for the MYW Dining this trip...Hopefully next trip it will pay for everything! :wizard:

Already called Chase and am waiting on my new Bambi card!

OP here: We've been using our Disney Visa pretty much exclusively for about 20 months; we pay it off every month, so no interest ever. I think as a charter member, we got double rewards for 2 or three months. That is when I got LASIK and put it on the credit card. Then, the next double points promotion came out, and we just had to spend $150 to get double points. That coincided with our trip to Paris. But then reality set in and since then I only get double points for every day purchases over $2300 per month (which means I'll never get double points again). We have a very high insurance deductible, so all of our medical expenses go on the card. When our church was raising funds to build a new youth center, they took credit cards, so we even got Disney dollars for our contribution to the building fund!

Note that you can only accumulate $750 per year (plus bonus points).

I love my Disney Visa, I charge pratically everything to it. Like, airline tickets, my AP, my DDE, even my down payment on my DVC!

nowellsl, what number did you call to order the new card? I called the number on the summer rewards brochure, and was told that the number was either no longer valid or not activated yet. I would love to get the new Bambi card. :flower:
