Hi,

Having never been this is probably going to sound a bit silly but having looked at many photos for our 1st trip in August it seems to me the DV looks a bit 'uninspiring', lacking in charm and character.

It's almost like they put restaurants, bars and shops there and thought that was enough. The buildings themselves don't look that attractive either, or so it seems - though the sports bar is a real positive. ;)

Am I mistaken, I cannot see any real evidence of nice landscaping for example, or water fountains, nice seating areas.

I have checked overhead images and can see it appears nicer towards the edge of the lake, like I say having never experienced it my comments are probably worthless but what do you think of the Disney Village?

It serves its purpose as it provides shops & restaurants. Its open way after the park closes so gives people something to do in the evening.

Its a shame they got rid of the stage are between the Disney store & Sports bar as there used to be some good summer concerts on.

I think there's a bit to look at with the cars outside of Annettes andthere's usually shows going on in the village including the BBWWS little parade

I find the Village area at DLP functional - its where folk go once the parks are closed to eat, drink, shop, and people watch :).

Hmm I'd never thought of it like that - my DF and I love Disney Village! Probably because we love to eat, drink and shop!

It's bright and colourful, they pump the music through the shops and we love sitting outside at the sports bar, where they have a huge screen showing sports or disney music channels. They sometimes have little shows (circus acts etc) and there are some fun things for kids to look at (the crocodile outside Rainforest Cafe, Elephants near the lake, car outside Annettes and the hands and feet outside Planet Hollywood to name a few). We also love Billy Bob's of an evening - the cheapest wine you find in the resort (haha I'm such a classy lady!), live music and line dancing :cool1: Haven't been for a few months so don't know if it's still there, but the beach themeing outside the old Hurricane's building was really fun :)

I sometimes think I'd like to live there haha... maybe in the Planet Holywood globe :rotfl:

I love sitting in the Village at night listening to the music and watching people pass by, if it's cold we choose the Sports Bar and a Patio Heater, otherwise the exterior seating area of Billy Bob's. :)

Thanks for the replies.

Please don't mis-understand me I intend to make the most of the Village especially the Sports bar, it's ideally located and offers something to do in the evening.
Rainforest Cafe and Planet Hollywood are definitely on our list for dining.

It just seems a bit lacking in character, but that's not to say I won't like it

I wonder if this will help you get a feel for it ? :goodvibes

Grab a cold beer, close your eyes and imagine lots of adults wearing large assorted Disney Character/Buffalo Bill hats milling about, accompanied by mini Buzz Lightyears and a princess or 2!
The shops are all beautifully window dressed, the multicoloured balloons and neon signs are lit up, can you tell I really do love the DV at night.

Sports bar is a good choice, cheapest cocktails in the village too :thumbsup2

Jumping on the bandwagon.
I love the atmosphere in DV! Nothing better then winding down in the Village after a fun packed day in the park.
Love looking in all the shops.
And then theres Annettes milkshakes :lovestruc

can you just go into annettes for milkshake at the end of the night or do you have to order food too?

It looks better at night when it's dark and lit up than in the day in my opinion.

As it will be summer there might be a show or something happening but it is less and less every year unfortunately.

It's nice to have a drink or two on warm evenings and people watch

We go up to the cinema there a lot and you used to have allsorts of things going on and we live in hope that the starry "sky" will come back one day :)

I liked it more when it was Festival Disney, I liked all the towers, the neon lights and starry lights in the sky. Very industrial but I liked it.

Thanks Jill.

I agree it appears better at night, to be honest (and a total contradiction) I am looking forward to having so much within walking distance of the Hotel New York.
Something I rarely had in an off site villa in all our Florida holidays.

Joshua is autistic/non verbal and as he is such an early riser he often doesn't want to go out later in the day, so having so much nearby without having to drive is one of the things about DLP we feel is such an advantage.

I still think from the pictures I have seen it could do with more character, but as things are changing such as Earl Of Sandwich and the new Disney store in construction, I guess it's a case of 'work in progress' still.

It does look better at night, and the likes of the sports bar are a fab option for me in the evening, as well as Julie being able to go out too - you never know we might even get the boy out later at night also!

Thanks everyone for the replies, I am feeling happier about it now.:goodvibes
