I do. It's still good to have up to date information about new attractions and strategies. I like to buy the Unofficial Guide and the Birnbaum books. Plus, the ratings are updated in the Unofficial Guide from year to year so you can see if service has become better or worse at various resorts, restaurants and attractions.
It's also fun to read the comments by others in the books.
I'm actually acquiring quite a collection! LOL!! I do find them very informative and helpful in planning our trips, but I also just love to read about The World! Birnbaum's "Official" guide is chock full of little tidbits that I find fascinating - like the decor of the shops on Main Street, the names on the train engines, hidden details on certain rides... All that makes the preparation so much more fun! I also like The Unofficial Guide for its candid approach (no one from Disney is paying them to write anything!) and the reader comments/suggestions, plus the ratings they give on everything from resorts to rides to food.
Can't go wrong with a good guidebook!
According to Len Testa, the new/updated version of the 2005 UG is due out the end of this month!! I am soooo glad I put off getting mine for this year. Finally procrastination worked! Dd just got the Birnbaum for Kids for 2005 at her school book fair. She has to have a new one for each and every trip.
Absolutely. I can't get enough of Disney planning. Plus, it helps if we're trying to decide on new restaurants, etc. I can pull out the book and make DH and DD figure out what they'd like to try.
