Disney vacation savings account

I'm on the fence about doing this. I like the idea of a special account for Disney, but when I read mixed reports on it I feel like maybe I'd just rather save the money myself. I'm fairly disciplined this way. BUT I like the idea of earning the $20 for every $1000 spent, AND using my Disney chase card which would get me reward dollars. So, I'm still on the fence. :confused3

I was too but I am lucky enough to get Disney gift cards at 22 percent off which is incredible. Problem is I hate having thousands of dollars on them sitting in a drawer. What if I got robbed what if they didn't work etc. after 7 years of rolling the dice with no problems then 20 off 1000 seemed like a no brainer. I love entering my cards immediately knowing they work etx. I have 5k in there now and plan to call my ABD trip in so to trigger a 100 free dollars. No brainer fir us gift card buyers

So I made my first deposit yesterday, then last night got charged again. It seems I misread and now I will turn off the automatic deposit....but where I would normally be frustrated that more money was taken out than intended, I just looked at the charge and thought 'More money towards vacation and a surprise trip'....what is Disney doing to me?!? lol

Question- has anyone contributed to the account via checking account and then requested your money back? Me and my wife are considering buying into DVC next year and I was thinking of opening a Disney savings account to start saving towards that. I know I won't be able to pay directly using this account so at the time I would request all my money back then pay for the DVC. I wanted to make sure the process of getting your money back was as easy as it sounds and there was no strings attached. Thanks

Hate to bring this question up again, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer.

Has anyone tested whether you get 2% back with the Disney Premier Visa? This seems like an easy way to pick up 4%.

Thanks
Can someone look at their visa bill and confirm that they received 2% back with the Disney Premier Visa?

I requested money back - it takes about 4-6 days for them to do the transaction and then another business day until it shows back up in your account.

Do you mean a direct deposit because I don't think that's possible. I used my debit on once though. I've requested a refund before and it was a hassle. I thought I'd get everything back on my last form of payment (debit card) but instead i received random refunds on at least 5 old gift cards, odd refunds on about 3 different credit cards( one of them a closed acct).

I booked a "magical" vacation yesterday and mentioned to my TA that I would probably be paying the rest off gradually with gift cards since I plan to buy some every 2 weeks from Target. I was happy that she suggested opening a DVA and then having her pay with it when I'm ready. She also knew about the $20 bonus per $1000 which when I had looked into this last year I must have missed. So it's nice that at least some TA's are up to date on this and suggesting to their clients that they use it.

So I finally opened an account now that I got a red card and can use it to consolidate gcs. I have a room-only reservation and am waiting to decide on a split-stay with dining plan until fall discounts are announced. I am just hoping I will be able to book my conference rates and tickets using the account without a lot of hassle- both are through Disney so I am hopeful it will be easy!

We are DVC members, and would only be interested in starting this account to pay for our discounted DVC annual passes for 6 of us. Is there any issue with using it for that purpose?

I am trying to add about $20 in today, but it says my either my contribution is above the $2,500 maximum daily contribution or my billing address is wrong. I know 100% my billing address is correct. Has any one had issues with it lately?

Just like the Disney website has glitches, so does the DVA website. Probably just a matter of timing when you get errors like that. When I get errors, I keep trying til it goes thru or wait until after hours to do it.

We have open DVA over 120 days . We used it pay for our last December dining plan and annual dues . Yesterday we could not log in and called help desk , they told us that someone will call us. Hope they can figure out what is wrong . Have a magical day to everyone.

Hi all,
I'm not sure which forum to put this on but i was wondering if anyone has ever used the Disney vacation savings account? If so, did it work smoothly? Just wondering....I have a regular savings account set up but easy to transfer money from accounts and to use it. I researched the website and it looks like you can get your money out at anytime.

Thanks for any thoughts :)

Joanne

I'm currently working 2 accounts right now........the first to pay for our park tickets (2 adults) for our stay in Jan 2016 for the Disney Marathon. The second one is for Annual passes (2) we intend on purchasing for our Dec 2016 trip (we plan on multiple visits in 2017 so for us it will save us money :teeth:). While it hasn't been long this is making saving very easy IMHO. Now there are some things to keep in mind while you can close the account and get a refund........the timing of that refund is several weeks...........not immediate. You can easily use the money in the account to work through Disney to purchase accommodations or buy tickets...........if you want to buy tickets from an alternate seller you need to get the refund...........so planning and setup are important......in that...........you want to have the appropriate amount of funds and the time to withdrawal them.

yeah there's no interest............but my bank which gives interest on savings.......but that isn't interest

In a word..........very happy with it right now............check back in November when the first account is done and ready to be used :chat:
