Disney Vacation Club Announces 2021 DVC Member Cruise

This is the first time a member cruise has actually worked for my school/vacation schedules, but wow! Not sure I can stomach $10K for 5 nights. And I certainly can't leave my kids behind. Maybe my husband... kidding.

I can do 4 nights on the dream with a verandah, 2 weeks earlier for 5800. Are there really 4200 worth of extras? Definitely an added day - especially a sea day - has value. I think they sell out - so it isn't for a less crowded ship. Grand Cayman is (IMO) a better port than Nassau - but I've been there a couple times already so I don't put a huge value on that.

Question - when booking with a Disney chase card, do you get to carry it interest free for 6 months. That would allow me to better guess my end of year bonus which is my Disney fund.
The cruise goes to Cozumel and Castaway Cay.
I am pretty sure you can carry it interest free, but do check.

We did the 2019 member cruise to Bermuda last October and it was wonderful. (other than the rough seas toward the end of the cruise). I would love to go on another member cruise but decided against this one. Not real crazy about Cozumel and for the price I would rather go to another destination. Hopefully we'll go on another member cruise in the near future.

How is Conceiger level on this cruise? Do you get even more stuff or is not worth the upgrade costs?
There has been nothing additional for Concierge level on the DVC member cruises. The one benefit might be, these cruises tend to have a lot of repeat cruisers including Platinum, so Concierge means the much shorter line for checkin at the port.

Well, you get stuff...but lots of that I give away.

Once Joe Rohde was on and gave presentations.
Don Hahn has been many times.
Often we have seen Disney Movies months or weeks before release. ( The China Nature film was shown 6 months or so before release.)
It’s something like a D23 meet regarding the presentations.
Often Stasia Martin is on. She’s an artist, (others as well) gives WONDERFUL presentations while drawing then raffles off her works. (No Charge ). I won this in May.

There have been Muppet presentations.
There are usually Broadway Stars giving an excellent show on the last night.
We saw snippets from “A Day at Disney” ahead of book’s release, and before Disney +.

If others chime in you can learn more. It’s the presentations, experiences that keep me coming back.
I’d add - voice talent, ie Bill Farmer (Goofy], Bret Iwan (Mickey] and we had the voice of Moana along with some sneak peaks for the 2016 cruise.

Pixar and Star Wars talent as well.
Imagineers - Tony Baxter has been on board a few times. Animators - we’ve had Andreas Deja and Eric Goldberg. I got a couple of Eric Goldberg drawings in 2015. These artists host the “learn to draw” sessions rather than DCL cast members and will cover multiple characters in a session.

Out of NYC in October, we had the Amazing pop-up paper artist Matthew Reinhart, who has two sessions plus hosted a fun workshop where we all learned and made our own pop-up Ursula.

@bobbiwoz description of similar to D23 is a good one, but with a LOT fewer people, and more opportunities to get to all sessions as most are repeated.

I think it’s also a different atmosphere of guests on board, more Disney energy.

There are also sometimes special menus in the main dining rooms or a special item at Cabanas, ie on the Pacific Coast MC last May, one guest was Oscar from Disneyland’s Carnation Cafe, so we had Oscars Potatoes in Cabana’s a few mornings.

Often some of the in-room gifts are associated with the onboard talent - ie a signed Dan Hahn book or DVD, signed Matthew’s Frozen POP-up, etc.

Yes, you do get the 6 months interest free, that’s what I’ve done in the past.

We have been members for close to 20 years. We have yet to go on one. Years ago, the reasons was the kids were in school. The past years's reason, we already had more than one trip planned. Would love to go on one someday. 2021 for us is 99.9% Italy.

Would love a short 4/5 night one with a double dip to Castaway Cay or the new island :)

They have had a 4 night double dip!

Yes, saw it. Thank you. Would love to be on it. We have been on 8 DCL cruises - mostly 7 nights and one 11 N Med cruise. We did go on a Double Dip a few years ago and thought it was a perfect addition to a short stay at WDW (or Vero/HH).

2021 is Italy. DH and I have talked about it for years. I have been back to my hometown twice, but hubby never. Since I gave in and flying to Anchorage this year, I cannot keep using the flight as an excuse anymore. So 2021 is Italy.

I think a 4 night Double Dip Member's cruise would be ideal. :)

Here's another crazy comparison:
- 2020 Member Cruise Base Rate for 7-night Alaska: 328 points / $2,591
- 2021 Member Cruise Base Rate for 5-night Caribbean: 358 points / $2,911

That's an increase of 30 points or $320 for two less nights!😲

The 2021 cruise is during June. All DCL prices rise during the summer months and holiday weeks.

I am comparing the 2021 EBTA the month before to the 2021 MC, and the MC is much more expensive. However, we just may do MC. Our family will visit us earlier rather than later June.

I saw that they have Concierge cabins, but I did not see the Roy or Walt suites. Do they save those for the special quests?

One had its own hot tub, maybe the both did, but wow!
Was that on the Dream or Fantasy? I’ve only seen the ones on the Magic...which were amazing! Don’t remember a hot tub, as those Verandahs are not deep,

This was in the front of the ship, and I don’t remember which ship.

I have looked through my notes, and never recorded the tour, so don’t remember if Dream or Fantasy.

Possibly the 2018 on the Dream.
