Disney treasure My experience

Complete agree with how bad the rock music pirate night was. The singers were basically just screaming and yelling the entire time. We are generally over pirate night and wish DCL would do something new. We went on the Treasure since it was our first time seeing the rock version but it was really unwatchable.
I went to the Haunted Mansion lounge instead of the pool deck for pirate night and it was empty, only three other couples were in there and I was at the bar by myself. I had nice conversation with the bartenders and they showed me a few cools tricks they use for the drinks. I really don’t like being packed in on the upper decks with everyone on the ship so sail away and pirate night are a pass for me, did it once and don’t care to again.

Honestly same. The only version I will go to every time is the version on the Magic and Wonder.

I did prefer pirate night on the Wish to the Dream/Fantasy though.

It's super frustrating that DCL keeps pushing the shorter cruises, there's obviously a lot of people that want 7 nights or more.

Part of the shorter cruises is to meet the passenger count. A lot easier to make the passenger count of those contracts with 3 to 5 night sailings.

But I see ads all the time for Royal and their 3 night cruises, so it's not like DCL is the only one pushing the shorter cruises.

DCL isn’t the only cruise line running short trips, but just look at how much of their fleet is focused on short cruises out of FL

Royal has a ton of ships doing 7+ cruises from FL. Let's look at Feb 2026- Adventure (6/8 night split), Allure, Grandeur, Icon, Independence, Oasis, Rhapsody, Star, and Symphony. I didn’t even count Radiance here, and that ship’s mostly doing 6-night sailings.

For their 3–5 night trips, Royal has Enchantment, Explorer, Freedom, Liberty, Radiance (has one 3 night, rest 6), Utopia, and Wonder.

Even if you count Radiance as one of the short-cruise ships and leave it out of the longer list, Royal still has 7 ships doing short cruises and 9 doing 7+ nights, all out of Florida in February 2026. That’s about half their FL fleet doing the longer sailing (really it’s a bit more but we’ll call it even).

Now look at DCL from FL Feb 2026: they’ve got the Treasure doing 7-night cruises, but Destiny, Dream, Fantasy, and Wish are all sticking to 5 nights or less. If they were trying to match what Royal is doing, you’d expect at least one of those ships to be doing a 7+ night run.

Also, Royal’s short weekend cruises appeal to a different crowd. They offer drink packages, more adult entertainment, and often are much cheaper compared to DCL.

Royal's latest deployment has 5/6 Oasis class ships doing 5 nights or less. You're right, it's not just DCL.

But don’t forget DCL does 7+ night cruises in the summer months in Alaska (Magic Wonder) and Europe (Fantasy). So that means in the summer the only ships actually sailing our of florida are Treasure, Dream and Wish. Of those, one is a 7 night and two are shorter.

Unlike other cruise lines, Disney doesn’t really attract the retiree crowd who have flexibility to do long sailings any time of year. Families tend to be limited to the summer and school holidays (spring break, christmas etc) for longer trips, and less likely to pull kids out of school for a full week other times of year.

Along with Currents Bar (add more seats) and the side decks, please. ;) That comparable area on the Dream/Fantasy is adults only. I don't see why it's not on these new ships. I emailed DCL about this after my first cruise on the Wish, 2/23, hoping enough feedback would make some changes on the Treasure, but no luck. That one change would make me willing to sail on the Wish or more likely, the Treasure again. But for now, I'm sticking to the older ships (and jumping ship to RCCL).
My theory is they didn’t make additional adult pool/hot tub areas so they can sell $400 per person rainforest passes. That’s the only reason that makes any sense to me.

I was just comparing location to location. Royal offers way more 7 night cruises than DCL around the world. Even if you look at the percentage of ships doing 7 night or longer sailings year-round, Royal still comes out ahead.

This summer the Magic is also sailing out of FL, but aside from one 10 night, the rest are short. Next summer you've got the Treasure, Dream, Destiny, and Wish. Destiny has just two 7 night cruises, Fantasy has one 10 night, and the rest are all short sailings except the ones on the Treasure.

If your logic held, DCL would add more 7 night cruises during Spring Break or Christmas but they don’t. So it is not simple as kids only have off school at Christmas time.

Last winter, the Dream had to offer a bunch of discounts to fill 4/5 night sailings, even with Marvel on the 5 nights- the TA rates were insanely low, especially for the 4 nights. I’m fully expecting even deeper discounts this winter when it's just doing 3/4 nights, especially with the Destiny also sailing from the same port. My gut feeling is that 7-night cruises would’ve sold better, but who knows.

I just don’t see a ton of families flying down to Ft Lauderdale for a 3 on the Dream when the Wish is closer to the parks and the Fantasy is nearby doing 4 nights (and has Pixar on the 5 nights). And I think folks who do want to cruise out of Ft Lauderdale might be tempted by the Destiny's 4 nights over the Dream but that's just my guess.

But yeah, we’ll see how it plays out.

If anyone is interested, Hulu has a little 45 minute video on the Treasure. I am unlikely to sail on her anytime soon, so am enjoying a little peek.

Are you referring to "The Magic of the Disney Treasure"? I was on board when they filmed some of that and my family and I make a very brief appearance as the ship is pulling away from the dock (video is sped up quite a bit too).

Magic is in Florida this summer...

Camcolt - YES! That’s the one! Really fascinating. Although to me it looks like “DisneyWorld on Water”. And I don’t go on cruises to stand in line? Some of the drinks looked like fun though. Moana looks amazing but also maybe prone to malfunctions? Maybe a little too high tech? I’m old. I’m classic ship material. But the Treasure did look very creative!

There were lots of lines. We normally sail the Fantasy, so lines were not normal for us. We had lots of the drinks - and enjoyed all the bars - an upgrade from the Fantasy. We did see Moana. We liked it, but it was definitely different from the other DCL live shows.

3/4/5 day cruises are just more popular for the Disney demo. Disney gets tons of first time cruisers that don’t want to commit to 7-nights right of the bat.

Plus with short cruises they can sell twice as many t-shirts and stuffed animals every week!
