We were absolutely amazed at how good the bus service was! I was really expecting crowds and long waits. Even after Fantasmic we saw a full bus leave and a new one was there immediately.

The lines for the All Stars did look horrific though!

Our room looked right at a bus stop and those things seem almost continuous.

Our hire car was used around four times - we used much less than half a tank of fuel. I just loved it!!

How did you guys get on?

UGH!
One experience of the bus, taking 35 mins to get from DTD to SSR.
Definitely would not, personally, go without a car.

However the few boats we took (Friendship boat from Epcot to Yacht Club and the boat from Wilderness Lodge to MK) were great :)

:goodvibes

Always hated Disney buses, this trip we tolerated them a little more.

Positives
Great if you want to go somewhere and have drink, like Hoop Dee Doo.
MK, no need to get on the monorail & tram to car park.
Usually quite prompt

Negatives
Sometimes had to wait 20 mins then 3 would turn up in a row, yet they still cram everyone on the 1st bus:confused3 (why can't the driver just say there is another right behind?
Parents not caring what their children do on the buses, almost every trip we had either a child shouting on top of his voice or children being allowed to walk about a moving bus.
At OKW our stop was the last on the route, 10-12 mins from MK to OKW but then upto another 15 mins getting to our stop.
Not being in control of the vehicle, I am not a happy passenger.

End of day we used them more this trip than ever before but by far prefer a car. Only did 800 miles in the car this time.

I loved the boat to DTD too! I kept thinking to myself that maybe we were just being very lucky!

I am a confident driver over there but it was just another level of relaxation to know the journey hope was sorted.

LOL

I said all trip that as this year I wasn't having to drive - I would have a couple of drinks. Did I ever get round to it?

:rolleyes1

Nope.

On the next year list.

My personal fav on a bus was at night when the kids next to us had some sort of lightsabor glow stick from the Fantasmic. I thought it was cool when we first got on the bus.... however when the lights were all off and the bus and everyone was tired those flashing stobe lights were making me sick! And the kid was waving it in my face, I was ready to snap the thing in half!

Anyway, I personally don't rent cars on vacation. I am on holiday and let Disney do the driving so I can enjoy my family and a few adult beverages:)

I have no issues with the busses!

I have to agree with you. I found the Value resort buses to be exceptionally good. 16 Days at ASMu last year and only twice did we ever wait more than 10 minutes for a bus (DTD and the other time was leaving MK at park closing and we opted to wait for the next bus, rather than stand).

Although the lines looked ridculous at times, there was no shortage of buses. A couple of times at park closing we arrived at our bus stop to find numerous buses for our resort all waiting. As one filled up and pulled away, the next one behind/beside it simply slipped in. Quick and easy. I suppose it depends what you are used to, but for us we just enjoy it as part of the trip.

Ironically Deluxe resorts seem to have a harder time with buses and often share them which means a longer journey if you are not the first stop.

Never had any issue with the bus service in WDW :)

One thing I always do is not leave the parks striaght away after an evening event (Wishes, Fantasmic, Illuminations etc.). Always grab a snack and a drink and either sit and people watch, do some shopping or in Epcot take a nice stroll round WS. By the time you leave the park there will be no lines for the resort buses :)
Disney will never leave you stranded at a park :)

We loved the easy-ness of the buses this year! Not one complaint, whatsoever. Didn't wait longer than about 10 minutes for a bus (and that's including leaving Epcot after Illuminations), apart from maybe sometimes to DTD as it's obviously not as frequent as the parks.

One thing I would say though, staying at a resort which shared a bus service with another resort would actually put me off staying there :flower3: Pop having it's own bus service was just too good!

I think I was on that bus, Luke. I saw you sat just in front of us! I agree that the DTD bus is very frustrating. You've been on it for 20 minutes and you are actually further away than when you started. Apart from that bus, I think the majority of the other buses are excellent. I hope school is going well. I'm back on Monday.

You should have said something, I didn't see you!
Then again we were tired and Paula was feeling a bit sick (hence why we didn't walk back after walking there) so I probably didn't notice anybody on that bus :lmao:

School has been great this week, what with only year 7 and sixth form in and us having a nice activity day in said sixth form (I'm a year 12/13 tutor) and a bit of a BBQ.
No doubt Monday, when the rest of the school is back, will be somewhat different ;)

Hope you've had a good rest and are ready for these seven weeks till half term (ahem not that I'm counting ;) )

Sounds very civilised. We've got a training day on Monday, where I will hopefully learn how to teach. Tuesday is only year 7, so by Wednesday I will hopefully be back into the swing of things.
