Every time I was at Disney before we got a towncar to and from the airport and made a grocery stop on the way to get 'essentials' (water, snacks, beer, etc)
What does everyone do now that there is transport directly to the resort? I hate to pay $4 for water if I can help it. Any tips on how saving a few pennies on these essentials?
:rolleyes1
Thanks!

I looked at gardengrocer, which has a very good rep here. I decided against it because we dont intend to eat breakfast in everyday. I would have used them primarly for soda and water and some bagels. I have decided to order my water thru staples- if you sign up for staple rewards they will deliver it free to your resort. The cost around $6 for a case of water. With gardengrocer you have to order $40.00 worth of groceries with a $10 delivery fee, plus optional tip. I am already at $60 for some bagels and water and soda. I know I will pay extra for soda at the convenience store but I think I will actually come out ahead doing it this way. I plan on packing a second suitcase for snacks and things. But I woud not hesitate to use gardengrocer!

Great! What a good idea. That is one less thing I have to worry about.

Thanks,

Well after thinking more and more about this I decided to go with Gardengrocer. I dont want to worry will my water get delivered. Having to go get food/diet coke fix at the convenience store and haul it all back. Came to the conclusion to go ahead and do it. So far I am not feeling guilty about this... I tend to over analyze and so on and so forth. And it put me in vacation mode!14 days!

Another over-analyzer voting for www.gardengrocer.com. Although it was hard for me to swallow that $10 fee (I'm thrifty, too), it was certainly a lot cheaper than renting a car for a day to go grocery shopping. Not to mention that an hour of Disney time is worth way more than $10. It was also worth it to have all the shopping done before I got there and the groceries waiting when I arrived. One last thing--they carry more than just bottled water and other groceries. You can get diapers, sunscreen, laundry detergent, shampoo, paper towels--anything that might be handy to have in the room but you don't want to take up room in your suitcase.

Lainey- I've never used it, but I don't know why you couldn't. It's just a matter of going to their site and ordering the items online. I know that they deliver it to your hotel, but not sure if it's to your room or where.

BTW, I went to their site the other day and it seems the delivery fee has gone up to $12!!

We wont have a car when we visit in Oct so the deliveries would save carrying all the stuff back to the hotel....$10-$12 is about what we would pay at home anyway, so thats not a problem. Just been looking at the site and Im drooling at the donuts!

We used Garden Grocer in October. They couldn't have been nicer and more efficient. They were on time (a little early) and delivered right to our room. We ordered water, snacks, beer, etc. I would not hesitate to use them again.

So do you have to sit in your room and wait for your order?

We're arriving in Orlando in the early afternoon. I was hoping to spend the late afternoon and evening of our first day in AK. Can we just head out and have the hotel let the delivery into our room? Or does one of us have to stay behind to accept the order?

Katie

We were at POFQ, and we didn't have to be there. In fact, we scheduled it to be delivered right around when our plane landed, so everything would be waiting for us when we got there. And it was. Very convenient.

Can you order before you leave from home even though you have no room # yet?

As far as I know you can. They don't assign room numbers until you get there, so you must have to. Maybe it says on their site.

Alright, just a couple of days ago their site said that the delivery fee was now $12, but now it's saying $10. Maybe they had complaints or I could very possibly be going crazy! :scared1: Edited to add- It seems that they have quoted 2 different prices for their grocery delivery to the WDW hotels. One is $10 and the other $12. I'm asking to see which is correct.

Absolutely! As long as you put your name and reservation number on the order, your groceries will find you.

Many people order a week or two in advance to get the delivery dates and times they want. Some even send packages to the hotel from home so they have less to pack in their suitcases (though I can't imagine that would be cost effective for you, coming across the Atlantic). Our last trip, we even mail ordered something and just had it delivered directly to the hotel. We didn't have any problems getting our packages.

I love this site...do you think I would be able to us it...as I live in the UK??
and do they deliver to the concierge desk at the hotel?
Elaine

Yes you can use them.

I used WeGoShop.com when we went in Oct 06, and was very satisfied with them. I liked using them because I drink a certain drink that only Wal-mart carries so I could request that, that is where I wanted them to shop at. Plus they gave me the reciept from where they purchased the groceries and then added their delivery fee. And I like the fact that they brought my things right to my room.
