Disney to Universal

I am sure this question has been asked a million times but i cant seem to find it!
I have only been to Universal once (in 1998 no less) and we had a car that trip. When we go to Disney we tend to go to Disney and no where else. With Harry Potter opening, we are thinking about altering that mindset. What is the best way to get from Disney property to Universal?

For me, the easiest (and least expensive) way is to rent a car for a day or two.

So a couple of years ago we took a cab from POP to a hotel near US(right by wet and wild) and It ran about 40.00. We want to take the cab to Hard rock from POP and was wondering If the taxi prices where any higher?
