Disney Tickets - Confusion Your Way!!

Never mind 'Magic Your Way' it's 'Confusion Your Way' for me. It seems you now need a degree to understand Disney's tickets. Expiry, Hopper, Plus Features and no. of days to factor in. I may be being thick here but it appears that a 10 day expiry ticket no hopper is cheaper than a 5 day expiry ticket with hopper. Is there anything to stop you using 2 of your 'days' on one calendar day? We are going in Nov./Dec. when park hours are short so don't tend to use the hopper bit much anyway, but it is useful if you want to go to Magic Kingdom for the evening parade or fireworks as they're not on every day and these tend to be the busiest days for the rides. Don't go often enough to warrant the non-expiry option so can't really see the point of the hopper bit at all.

Just buy the 7 or 14 day ticket from the Uk and everything is already covered!!

I am as confused as you about the new ticket system so I will be sticking to buying my 14 day tickets and I will then have no worries!!

We have the 10 day Premium MYW tickets and for us they are brilliant.

We go every year but do not do WDW excessively, so having tickets that never expire plus with the hopper facility and 5 days at water parks, they cannot be beat , and are perfect for our needs.

Will last us our next 3 holidays I think.

I know exactly what you mean! I have to say I’m actually really disappointed and annoyed with Disney over the ticket changes they have implemented as it just seems they are trying to grab as much money out of you as they can, as if we don’t spend enough on Disney

Anyway, to answer your question I don’t see why there would be a problem with using two tickets in the same day, you’ve paid for the amount of days so surely it shouldn’t make a difference how you use up those days.

Unfortunately, you can't use a 10 day non hopper as a hopper by using 2 or more passes in a single day. This is what I found on mousesavers.com...

"I have been asked if you could buy, say, a 10-Day Base Ticket and use it as a 5-Day Hopper by visiting two parks per day. The answer is no. You can only enter one park per day with Magic Your Way Base Tickets, so you really can't use them as Hoppers unless you buy the Park Hopper Option."

With having 3 full weeks this year I felt as though a 14 day ultimate and 5 park flex were justified as there is little cost between having the freedom in the 5 day top MYW pass and the ultimate ticket.

It's our 1st time going and I'm wondering if we can add the waterparks without adding the hopper??? If so can we do the waterparks for 1/2 day and than a regular park for 1/2 day, since the waterparks are not considered regular parks?

Yes you can do the water parks without adding the hopper - "MAGIC YOUR WAY BASE with Water Park Fun & More Option- (Expires within 14 days after first day of use)"

If you do a water-park for half a day and then a regular park for half a day it will count as 2 days used.

we have still got 7 day hopper plus ticketts from a few years ago as we have been going for many years now we prefer the waterparks.We use 2 or 3 days for theame parks and hop and buy annual water park with disney quest inclueded.We try to plan our holidays to overlap so the annuals will get used each year.We also do disney one year and the outher parks the next.the bounus and fun passes for bush,seaworld and universal are good value

Before they came out, the only choices you had was 5, 7 or 14 days (from UK ticket agencies anyway - US ones gave you a FEW more options) and you had to take every option whether you were going to use them or not.

Okay the UK only 14 day Premium ticket is very popular on these boards and competitvely priced, but for those of us who spend less than half their Florida trip at Disney, the Magic Your Way is the best way to go as there's no wasted days.

However, there's no right or wrong choice here - as it all depends what suits YOUR holiday needs....to summarise.......

IN GENERAL :

MYW tickets really suit people who ;
1) like to make fairly rigid itineraries and like to stick to them
2) want to do many other activities apart from Disney, or take plenty of time out for rest/shopping on their visit
3) intend to make return visits
4) don't want to pay for options they won't use

Ultimate (special UK) tickets really suit people who ;
1) want a very flexible itinerary, or perhaps no itinerary
2) want to do loads and loads of Disney
3) do not intend to return to Disney in the foreseeable future.

I have to admit I know where you`re coming from! Last year we had AP`s -this year if we go it will be the MYW route. I think I`ll get my head around it with some quiet contemplation
Don`t forget you can leave a park and return to the same park that day on one ticket (Do you get your hand stamped?)

I think we fall into the MYW point 2/3/4 categories - for us having hopper facility and non-expiry is perfect as we go every year but do lots of other things apart from Disney.
And it gives us time to make the most of our Universal AP's

When we bought our 3 week package with United vacations for Christmas 2004 we had the length of stay passes included, we had to look at this first ever trip to Florida as possibly the only one we would have so needed to get in as much as possible.

Unfortunately, on the 22nd December I contracted Viral Meningitis and was in hospital for a week, I missed Christmas completely and came out 5 days before heading home and I hadn't even done Universal!

I'm so glad we had that three week ticket because if we had been on a 2 week holiday I would have missed a whole week of my ticket and been even more devastated.

When I came back I was completely turned off Florida for about 4 months but now i'm desperate to get back as I have "unfinished business". We will be going again for 3 weeks and I will now always purchase a 14 or 21 day ticket just in case one of us gets ill again. I'm too freaked out by my illness to get anything less.

I'm sure it sounds maronic but the trip cost us far too much to take any chances on missing out!

Oh Paula Jane you poor thing !

What a terrible thing to happen to you on holiday ......I hope you are fully recovered now.

I just wanted to add that if you are worried about something happening on your next trip (and I can see why you would be !) you might consider the MYW tickets with the NON expiry option...so that in the event of something preventing you going to the parks you would still have the days 'in the bank' for next time.

i had exactly the same problem which ticket to get.

Last year we went for 2 weeks and had 5 day hopper tickets + water parks.

I found these really tying. Everytime we went to a Disney park, we felt we had to stay as long as we could in the park, with only short rests, to see everything and do everything, as we felt we wouldn't be able to get back for a few years. Unfortunatly I bought our tickets before the 14 day tickets came out. One day we went to Animal Kingdom it rained all day and then we hopped at night to MK.

We were shattered and parked out!

Anyway, we're going back this year. Blow what ever the tickets cost, we're going for 22 nights and we've gone for the 21 day ticket. That way we can pop into the park in the morning. Go back to the pool in the afternoon or shop at walmart (DH is obsessed with walmart!) and then go back at night. We love the parks. Even though they expire after 21 days, they are the right ticket for us. We will also be getting the 5 park flex as well. As some days we will go to universal/IOA during the day and then go see the fireworks at Disney at night and have a meal in the parks.

I do agree that Disney tickets are confusing and there are loads of options, but the Americans only go for a few days, whereas us Brits go for 2 weeks or more as we are going long haul.

Whatever you decide you'll have a fab time.

And just remember if you're going for 10 days or more it can make sense to get an Annual Passport as it gives you quite a few discounts as well...

Can you add the non-expire later on after you've bought your tickets and used a few days?
