I am considering getting a Disney tattoo and need some ideas. I don't want anything big (my first tattoo) but something that combines my love of Disney and my daughter who passed away at 35 unexpectedly last year. She was my partner in crime at WDW and I really want something to represent both. I have seen some beautiful tattoos on here and I would love to see them and any ideas you may have. I am just starting to think of ideas and looking for some inspiration. TIA.

Was there a particular aspect of Disney that was especially meaningful to your daughter? E.g. the castle at the MK or a specific character?

First of all - hugs to you
I can't begin to imagine how you must feel.

I agree with the above post about narrowing it down to what she loved or what you loved together. For me and my DD20 (we are also WDW buddies) we love love love HEA - love it! So I would get a tattoo that incorporates HEA.

This is our song….so I may also incorporate this somehow.https://youtu.be/H-R052wx7cc?feature=shared

Definitely write down some ideas and a good tattoo artist will help you sort through it.

My DD20 got a tattoo to represent a time that she persevered over a difficult time in her life, and her tattoo artist was awesome with helping her get it just right.

Good luck and God Bless!

I can't even imagine your grief and sorrow. My DD30 is also my best Disney buddy; we are headed down tomorrow for a fast weekend get away. Did your DD have a favorite character or princess? If she was a Beauty and the Beast or Belle fan, you could have a simple rose bud with stem, and her name. Something like that.
Please accept my condolences on your loss. I think something like that would break me. I hope you are surrounded by all the love and support you need, to bring you comfort and healing.

I'm so sorry for your loss. :grouphug:
I think a quote from her favorite Disney movie or song with the script forming the outline of Mickey ears would be nice.
This is a great idea. I would also suggest a mickey or minnie ears hat (old style before the headbands) with her name on it.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes. It is coming on a year this month which is why I want to do this now. We both just have a general all around love for Disney which is why deciding what to do is so hard. We both loved "everything" but then again...most Disney fans would feel the same way. I am thinking something with the castle and a Mickey head or Minnie head or both??? I just want to be able to include her name on it and want something subtle. This is from a photo shoot I did in March in her memory.

Beautiful!

Stealing ideas from above, what about a tattoo of Minnie ears with your name written in Waltograph font in one ear, and your daughter's name written in Waltograph font in the other ear? Between the ears, you could have your daughter's date of birth to her date of passing. Or you could be whimsical and have something like "Partners in Crime".

Just some general info. If you do one that has a face or other small details it is going to have to be large enough to see those details clearly and to be able to distinguish what they are. I only have a couple but one overall is around 10" in height and the other 15" for that very reason

I'm so sorry for your loss. 💜

You mentioned wanting something subtle, so, maybe, Mickey's gloved hands making a heart, with your daughter's name or initials added in the center?

(idea from Etsy)

Or, the effect of a light charm bracelet on your inner wrist, with something like a Mickey head, a castle, your daughter's name/initial? ETA: I meant this one as something a bit lighter, simpler, more subtle than the pictures, but they give the idea.

Or, a simple Mickey head outline, where part of the outline is your daughter;s name

My daughter and I have the Disneyland Castle, hers more detailed and stained glass look, mine more subtle and watercolor. A castle without an outline in a more abstract sense might be the subtle effect you’re looking for.

I really encourage thinking it out for a while. All my tattoos are much more evolved versions of what I originally planned to get. I also would look for someone who specifically does Disney tattoos even for a simple outline. For me, the specific tilt of the ears of a Mickey outline or silhouette matters a LOT, the correct shape, look, color, etc. of a character or icon matters to me. Take your time and look at portfolios and reviews. This is a special tattoo, pick an artist that will do right by you.

I would think about special things you shared and loved about Disney. If you want her name, I’d do it in her writing. I have some pretty cool tats but the most special one is “Love, Dad” in his writing. Good luck and please come back to update us on what you choose.
