Got called an ******* for getting off bus before the ramp was down for scooters

I’m not arguing with you - I agree, there was no reason for the OP to be called an AH and I hope that the event didn’t ruined their stay…just that MAYBE hopping out the ramp door without the ramp being lowered is not the procedure…especially when the OP said the CM (bus driver?) seemed to support the VIP party’s thoughts that the ramp door was not ready for people to depart from.
Where’s a bus driver on the DIS when you need ‘em to clarify.

To make things worse now they have new buses that can handle 3 ECVs. Probably half of the bus capacity if you include party members that get to cut to the front of the line. It’s one reason I just drive and stay offsite now. Not having to deal with buses or “room checks” makes a huge difference.

Wow don’t think we saw any of the 3’s … feel like we have seen less ecv on our last few trips actually .. still have seen the entourage problem though

My wife uses a wheelchair to get around the World, at least for the last few trips. It's been the case that she and others in wheelchairs/scooters get on and off first. I don't think I would call anyone out on it, though.

In my 23+ years of going to Disney, a scooter has never been unloaded before people got off the bus. That is not even possible when a bus is full.

What gets on my nerves is how when the scooters board first their entire groups get on first too. We were first in line for the bus home from Epcot to WL this past January, but when the bus pulled up it loaded 2 scooters that had just pulled up to the line as the bus was pulling up, and they each had huge groups with them, and by the time we got on the bus we had to split up to sit. I get the scooters getting on first but why do their entire groups get on too, in front of people who’ve been patiently waiting? I know it’s petty, but it irritates me.

Their groups load too to ensure the entire party arrives at the destination together. Separating them in many cases mean guests could be loaded on separate buses which Disney does not want to do.

I’m surprised that their 2 parties were so large that you could not find 2 seats together on the bus! Together they would need to have 30+ other guests and all of them sit separately in order for you not to have 2 seats together. We’ve been to Disney 30+ times and never encountered groups so large that they took the majority of seats on the bus. Your experience was an anomaly.

We have been going for 23 years (maybe more) and have seen "entourages" get on with the scooter, especially with the groups going to evening parties or with the gay days groups. This usually happens at the Value resorts more, but it happens at others as well. Not enough to fill the bus, but enough to take all of the actual seats.

Why’s their party being together more important than mine? Why should we stand when we waited a long time and were first in line, for a group to just roll up at the last minute and get priority? Just my opinion.

This! 100%. That is why it is supposed to be limited to 6 walk-on guests per scooter rider.

I feel this way if somebody says something to/about me, but when it is my husband or children....the bear comes out and I have to remember to be the bigger person.

Hello all. Yesterday around 4pm my family and I were on a bus going from Hollywood studios to Polynesian. As we were waiting to get on the bus and there was apparently this group of 14 who just finished a VIP tour who thought they were better than everyone else, they told us that there wasn’t enough space for us (there was enough space all the kids had seats and only a few guys stood me being one of them)

On the bus was fine, but after we got to the poly apparently this group decided that the scooters are suppose to get off first, and the cast member apparently thought so too, but don't they normally get off last? Basically one of the members in the party of 14 told me to wait until the ramp is out before leaving after their party, I told them I didn’t need the ramp and got off. After I left he apparently called me an ******* which i didn’t hear, but my wife did. I wear a kippa too so I'm at a heighten state of alert. Is this normal Disney behavior now?

I reported this to a cast member and I met with Disney security. I then followed up later but they didn't really do much or seem to care all that much. It was extremely off putting and ruined the magic and still is ruining the magic. I’m not really used to having strangers call me such vile names and Disneys response hasn’t really been great at all.

You are not what they called you; some people just always have an opinion and something to say. Hopefully it was not stemming from antisemitism. Most likely, the guy did not know the rules and clearly the bus driver does not either.

I do not know what security was going to do. From their perspective, you were being a tattle-tale. If he threatened you or made racial remarks, that would be another story.

Try not to let it bother you any more. We all get called names or falsely accused. We all know who the real booty was in this situation.

You are correct. I was typing fast than I was thinking. What I had meant to say was "loaded first and unloaded last". Since I dislike altering records and someone else posted the correct information later, I just left it as it was.

We had one time that we were loaded first and then another woman with a scooter plus 19 family members. And they all kept dumping their junk on the scooter once it was tied down. The bus finally loaded and a woman next to me was venting about all the people getting on with scooters and I said well I got on with my mom. She looked at me and said - true, but you were 1 person only and that is no big deal. Her issue was with the 19 and I did happen to agree with her. They could have split to have some board the regular queue.

I have seen that multiple times. It is frustrating.

I think some of it is because people these days are so entitled and behave like rabid animals when they do not get their way....so the bus drivers just do not enforce Disney policies as to avoid a possible altercation. For the rest, they probably do not care.

It’s the same with bringing dogs to the parks that are obviously not service dogs …don’t want to call them out because of altercation .. I for one am sick of this practice not only at Disney but my local grocery stores and restaurants … I’m very close to getting myself a therapy goat to bring everywhere with me … can’t wait until the pit bulls start to come in … needs to be kiboshed yesterday

If they cannot move back, the people blocking the way disembark while the scooter gets off then they get back on. Happens all the time in New York City...and I'd guess other cities with public transportation.

How else do you think they do it with multi-stop resorts? They don't go all the way around again if the scooter is for the first stop.

In NY they probably make all standers get off to allow the scooters off then they have to get back on and go out the front doors …

Been going to WDW over 30 years. It’s always the driver that decides if the handicaps or the ambulatory go first. I’ve seen both and I don’t know what criteria they use. You probably should have waited for the driver’s OK to exit the bus. They’re just trying to make sure no one gets injured and it’s not total chaos on the bus. That being said, the person that called you a name is just ignorant and unfortunately this is becoming more common. Don’t let it bother you. YOURE AT DISNEY WORLD!!!

That’s fine if the people are continuing on. If they’re getting off at that stop anyway….they just get off first. Which is what the OP did.
