Disney "stuff" for Home

maybe this isn't the right place to post this, but I am curious: does anyone else enjoy buying Disney decor/household items? I have gradually added these to our house in the past few years. Some examples:
My recent addition was six sets of Mickey flatware from the Disney Store sale.

Before that was the white storage bench with a Mickey head carved in it.

Our library has two framed Disney posters and the Mickey hands curtain rods.

My husband is not as crazy about Disney as I am, so I have tried to mix obvious with subtle.

Anyone have any other examples?

My good friend recently painted her kitchen and stamped stenciled Mickey heads in different colors for her backsplash. And changed out her light fixture for the black Mickey chandelier that the Disney Store had.

We have taken the Traingarden down and put some of the other stuff around 0ther parts of the house for now.

But we have many thing Disney in and around our House.

Our problem is we live in Canada and a lot of the things I would like to get they don't ship here. That and the shipping would be OUTRAGEOUS!! And if we find something in the park than we have no real way of getting it home on the plane!

I have some silverware and stuff you can buy at the regular Disney Store, but I would love to have some of the things they have had in the past. A chandelier, the fireplace screen (I don't have a fireplace yet, but someday), the mailbox. There are so many nice looking things that they make, but I can't have

We are trying to decorate our house in Disney, but it is hard since the stuff we can usually get is cheap and childish looking.

I received a Winnie the Pooh toaster for Christmas. It is the cutest thing. It playes Winnie the Pooh when the toast is done.

My DS is my subtle Disney enabler

Among his gifts to me are a black metal napkin holder that is a Mickey Head. I also have some fun gourmet Mickey stuff like trivets, potholders, towels, etc.

We are going to be putting some things out this weekend. It has been packed away for a while.

But there won't be much to see. Snowglobes and a hanging candle holder. I think that is all you can see. Everything else is dishes in a cupboard or drawer.

We need so much more!!!

We have a decorative plate on top of the dresser in our bedroom. I have been lusting after some dinner plates at the kitchen store next to the Earl of Sandwich. DH does not mind since he is a bigger Disney freak than me.

I think the Disney stuff that fits into every day life is the best! I was thinking our stuff was pretty subtle...but it may jump out to those not in "the Disney Way"....

Kitchen has Mickey toaster, trivet , dish towels, Mickey salt & pepper shakers, and Alice in Wonderland cels on the wall.

Guest bathroom is totally Mickey with towels, toothbrush holder, and throw-rug. Just outside the bathroom is a framed piece of art with photos and cartoon drawings of Disney that play audio.

We have so many little things (&big) that bring Disney into our lives--yet that don't clobber people over the head with it.

You're probably right Hickchick. When you have as much Disney stuff in your life as I do, it all starts to look normal.

We also put an addition on this year and I finally got my Disney room. I've been slowly starting to decorate it. My hubby got me the Trolley car big fig for Christmas, my first ever Big Fig. I've also started matting my pins and will be decorating the walls with these. After a bad day at work I can now come home and can just chill in my getaway room.

That trolley car big fig is AWESOME. I don't own any big figs, but I like almost all of them. I need a house the size of a mansion to put them all in.

I hear ya Micca about the Big Figs. I saw this one last year and just fell in love with it. I don't really have the necessary space that they require so when I saw this one with the whole Fab 5 I knew I had finally found the one for me! My husband bought it, had it shipped home and kept it from me until Christmas. It was a really great surprise.

I know, I live in Aurope, and it's amazing what they can and can't ship! Huge heavy boxes with Mickey tableware: no problem. A mirror or a watch-box: can't be shipped! Argh!
But I don't really agree with the fact that the things they will ship (for Belgium it's a $40 flat shipping rate) are cheap and childish looking, I have bought some really nice things (I admit, most of them are kitchen-related though, but also collectibles etc)



My new appartment will be very Disney. I don't intend to paint my walls in red, black and yellow, but I plan on stencilling Mickey heads a little bit everywhere in colours matching the overall paint.
I have already a lot of things for the bathroom that are "Mickey" (check out www.aquanova.be , I already have the shower curtain etc) and for the kitchen (bought online, at DLP and at WDW/ DL, yes, it all goes in the suitcase and/ or carry on )

My living room will have most of my collectibles in glass cabinets, and I also have some framed pictures etc to decorate the walls.
People who hate Disney shouldn't come to visit me

I collect disney snowbabies and also other little odds and ends that are disney related. right now df and I move around a lot for work so we aren't able to decorate our apartments very much, but when we can there will totally be a disney room that is all mine! And my glass slipper that df proposed with at crt in dec of 06 among some other things will be displayed in a glass cabinet...hes already promised to buy for me as a wedding present so I can display all my disney nick nacks

People who come to my house know right away what they're getting into: I have a Mickey head welcome mat and a cast iron Mickey doorbell and cast iron Mickey head door knocker. We don't have a ton of Disney stuff in the house, and most of it is very subtle (except for the kids rooms). I do have four sets of the flatware with embossed Mickey heads from the Disney Store, and I am smacking myself for not buying a few more because it's not enough to completely replace my old stuff. I have several Disney picture frames that are quite subtle, if you didn't realize they were Disney you probably wouldn't know.

The girls bedroom is decorated in Disney Princess - the walls are two-tone pink, light on top and darker pink on the bottom with a white chair rail dividing the two. We have a small wall mural of the Castle on one wall. I try to stay away from putting the princess characters faces on too many things and I think it turned out very tasteful. We have a set of three framed Cinderella lithographs that I found at Goodwill and I love them!!

Our playroom is decorated in Tinkerbell, it's painted purple and green and has a Tink wall border. We spraypainted an ugly old chandelier that came with our house purple and put new shades on it and it is perfect! Our most recent addition is a small Tink child's table and chair set from Walmart.

I have a tiny bathroom in my master bedroom that is in desperate need of a makeover and I want to do it Disney-style, but subtle. I was inspired by the bathrooms at SSR and I think I'll use their soft color schemes. Disneyshopping.com used to have some nice merchandise that I have to look for but I think it might be gone - I wanted a border that was b/w and had scenes of the old Disney studios. Very "old hollywood" style which I love. They also had a nice big wooden wall mirror with small Mickey head cutouts along the top (or was it bottom?) edge that would have fit perfectly and I'm kicking myself for not buying it. I want to put Mickey head knobs on the drawers, and maybe some subtle Disney theme on the towels.

Oh yeah, and I have one Mickey head dishtowel in the kitchen. I looked for more on my recent trip, but they didn't have the red ones anymore so if anyone sees red checkered dishtowels with Mickey heads on them, please let me know! I only found black or blue ones, but my kitchen is decorated in an "old world" theme with red accents so those wouldn't work. I wanted a set of s/p shakers from WDW but forgot to buy them.

When I pull into my garage, I have a Mickey antenna topper hanging from the ceiling to let me know when to stop. I have a chrome Mickey head emblem stuck on the back of my car.

I love my Disney home decor and want to gradually add to it, but I like it to be subtle, like the decor at some of the nicer WDW resorts. A small hidden Mickey here & there, that only I know about and visitors don't see, brings me small joys on a daily basis.
