Disney Studios Backlot Tours Question???

Greetings ladies and gentlemen,

I visited Disney World in 2000 and was always curious about one thing. Please answer my question if you can.

Are any movies/TV shows/commercials actually filmed at Orlando Disney's Backlot or is it strictly a tourist attraction?

I know that Universal Studios in California (which I visited in 2001) actually makes movies....but I am not sure about Disney Studios.......or Universal Orlando for that matter.

Your accurate knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

The Backlot specifically, they filmed a number of old television shows(Golden Girls) and movies (Ernest movies) but nothing recently.

They were filming a commercial in front of one of the houses one time when I was on the tour....not sure if it was just a local add or not. Did you know the backlot area,the houses,are no longer there? A new Motor Stunt Show opens in that area in 2005.

They have filmed several things at the studio. The All New Mickey Mouse Club (starring a very young Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez and Keri Russell) taped all 7 seasons there. Let's Make A Deal taped there (and also had an attraction there on Soundstage 2). Lots of commercials and television specials have been filmed on the backlot as well.

Contrary to popular belief, the Golden Girls was NOT taped at Disney-MGM Studios in Florida. The fascade of the house was on Residential Street and was used for some of the exterior shots but all of the actual show was taped in California.
