Any benefits to own Disney stock?

Once a year, you get a really cool annual report. That and just knowing you own stock in Disney is all you get. They did away with the perks for shareowners several years ago when the websites popped up that allowed people to easily purchase one share of stock. Too many small shareowners getting big perks is not good business sense.

The annual report, as Feralpeg mentioned, is pretty interesting, and sometimes tips you off to upcoming developements. IMHO the stock certificate itself is the best part of owning Disney stock. It has a picture of Walt, surrounded by a bunch of characters and a large picture of Cindy's Castle and Spaceship Earth on it. Looks very cool framed.

That and as a shareholder you may attend the annual meeting. Free food!

IF you buy stock in ORIENTAL LAND COMPANY--the company that owns and manages TOKYO DISNEYLAND and TOKYO DISNEYSEA--you get 1 day 1 park pass good for 6 months twice a year for every 100 shares of stock...

If you happen to go to Japan alot that could be useful...their parks are gorgeous and they have managed to make money in a very depressed Japanes economy for many years...

My DH didn't even get the stock certificate But that was to do with his trading company or whatever they are called. Sorry, finance is so not my area! When they first launched the Disney credit card, we got a flyer with our annual report that allowed us to get a special shareholders only watch if we got the credit card. That was pretty much our only perk! As annual reports go, Disney is one of the nicer ones. A lot of companies are now able (under new regulations) do away with actual paper annual reports, everything can be seen online now, so if you actually want the old fashioned reading matter, make sure you have checked that option (they still have to provide it for anyone that wants it)
