Any one here interested in Disney Snowglobes? I am not a pin trader or collector, but I do like to collect snowglobes, and other disney items. This is the Collectors board and I am hoping that there might be someone here that just might know more than I do. I just recently became obsessed in snowglobes and need as much information as I can in order to decide what a snowglobe is worth on Ebay. I have a few old and new disney catalogs and use those as reference, but what I really need is a Board similar to this one and meet people who have the same interest and could help me in my quest. Thanks Ann

Hi Ann, I think sometimes everyone forgets that this is not just a "pin collectors" board ;)
Even though I collect some pins.....there are other Disney things we collect. And Snowglobes is one of them.
I have a few....had to stop buying too many because I started running out of room.
I do really enjoy the ones I have. And the quality and detail has really changed over the years. I have a couple that are about 10 years old.
So what is your "quest" ?? Maybe I can help you :)

Cool! Finally a Disney Collector that's not limited to pins! Ask away. I have several snowglobes.

I collect the snowglobes too and bought a whole lot of them off eBay this past year. One I would really like to find is the first Toy Story on the secondary market! Deanna

I have about 20 snowglobes. That is one of the many things I love to collect from Disney.

I have about 20 different Snow Globes from Disney. It is hard to gauge the value of them though with out looking at an Auction site like ebay.

Welcome to the collector's board. Yes, you will see a LOT of pin collector's on this board, but it is a general collector's board. Most of us who collect pins avidly also collect other Disney memorabilia.

I too collect snowglobes. I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 I think. Nat is right about the value. About the best way to gauge that is to look through some of the ebay auctions and take an average. The secondary market can be harsh though, especially if you have any air bubbles in the globe.

In addition to snow globes, I collect pins, Disney videos, DVDs, lithographs, artwork, watches, CM only items, buttons, dolls, bears, park items and other miscellaneous Disney items. Basically I'm a packrat!!! But I sure do love my stash!

Thanks for the quick response! You guys are way ahead of me in collecting these globes. I have 4 globes I purchased from the Disney store, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella's wedding day, Alice in Wonderland and Nightmare before Xmas. My favorite is Cindy and Alice. They are simply beautiful. Got them at a great price. That really started my obsession with globes, because of their beauty. A very expensive collection, especially when I needed to get more storage to hold them. My dream snowglobe is The animation with multi characters and can only be bought at Disney World or on Ebay.

I have won about 4 snowglobe auctions on Ebay. Only one did I really like. The other 3 are mistakes and I have learned from them. I found out I have to ask a lot of questions before I bid. I am constantly on Ebay, searching for the next one and bidding or I am at my Disney store hoping that they will have a sale. Does this ever end?

I don't expect it to end soon, as we are planning a trip to Disney World April this year. I plan on doing some shopping. What I would like to know is exactly where the best stores to shop at that would have a good variety of snowglobes? Also, wouln't it be nice to know where all those sellers on Ebay get thier snowglobes from? They have to get them at a cheap price to be able to sell them at a profit on Ebay. Thanks again and hope this thread continures and new people join and give us lots and lots of information and ideas and just talk about their collections. Ann

All it takes is a phone call! Usually the no sales tax offsets or helps offset shipping charges. For the globes that were available property wide on our last trip, I waited and bought 4 or 5, 2 were for a friend, and IF you check in using American Express you get a 15% discount at World of Disney at Downtown Disney and between that and the no sales tax you can save enough to cover the cost of one globe, especially IF you buy all the new Parade Globes and the double bubble! Hope this helps! Deanna

Wow Sue Ellen! You collect everything. I collect the videos and dvd's too. I am trying to concentrate on globes, framed pin sets and dvd's. I was amazed the first time I went to the CT pin meet that Cynthia puts together. I could not believe the amount of pins some of the collectors had. I walked in with my 2 pins and these folks had just about every pin possible. Disney definitely found something with these pins

I just played catch up buying several of the DVD's that were going back to the vault and some of the limited issue's from '99, I think. I lucked upon The Little Mermaid at the Movie Gallery right down the road too so was happy to get it at retail! I came across VCD's of various titles on auctions of some movies that have yet to be released in the US and was curious IF anyone buys those or waits patiently for release on DVD here? It gets so confusing with all the wide-screen, full-screen, original theatrical-screen and I'm just not too sure about the VCD's.

Deanna

P.S. I know what you mean about the pin swaps, my 7 yr. old daughter and I went to the Contemporary on a Friday night with just the pins on our lanyards and were amazed at all the pins people had! Thanks Again Raulandpinboy for the DL Japan Castle POM, we are STILL buying castle pins!

Hi there,

A lot of "getting a good deal" on a snowglobe sometimes stems from where you get it. Wal-Mart and Target both carry Disney snowglobes at different times. You can often find them at comic or collectible stores - sometimes in sci-fi stores, too. Much to my surprise I found a great Nightmare Before Xmas snowglobe at Hot Topic - a local gothic/teen store. Usually found in malls, it can appear daunting from the outside, but inside, wow - what a great store! Lots of Disney tees that you won't find anyplace else, NBC stuff, villians, the list goes on. I've also seen snowglobes at Hallmark, Carlton and mall collectible stores. Oh, and those mall stores that specialize in music boxes - they have lots.

I hope that helps!!

Wow Sue Ellen! You collect everything.
LOL!!! Yes I do, just ask my husband!!!!! ;)

I think the only person (okay people) that I have met that collects as much stuff as I do is/are Vince & Suzi!!!!!

Speaking of snowglobes, Does anyone know where I can find the Donald thruouh the years snowglobe? It was in the Disney catalog around Oct. I think. Sold out . I tried E-bay, and no luck. Daughter wants it for her birthday and I just cant seem to find it. THANKS

I usually see it listed once in awhile by an ebay seller that goes by the seller name mytrezures you might watch for her auctions or try to contact her. I've bought from her at least twice and have been happy.

That funny you say that.... I've been on 2 of the donald snowglobes and both times I am the hig bidder for days...then at the last sec, NOT min, someone outbids me. Dont know how they do that. I had at least 30 more on it then was posted. Whats the trick?? LOL, OK...did YOU outbid me?? LOL

Buzz2001: Wow! your globes are beautiful! So many! Which is your favorite? I am thinking of getting Stromboli & Pinocchio at Disney.com. Is this globe as nice as it looks? I have never seen it in person. I just won a auction on Ebay for DISNEY PINOCCHIO SNOW WHITE PARADE. Can't wait until it gets here. And soon I will know if I won on the Disney auction for the Beach Party snowglobe. I am the tenth bidder, so I could still lose out. Oh well, there are always more globes on Ebay, lots of them!
I also collect other types of globes, Wizard of Oz, I have around 4 of those, very nice globes and Charlie Brown and the peanuts gang, they are so cute! But Disney are my favorite. Thanks for sharing your lovely pictures with us, and this sure does help me in my quest. Thanks. Ann

Thanks Disneyann. My favorite...that's a tough call. I think I would have to say the Peter Pan pirate ship for snowglobes and the Pinocchio pin set.

I like the Pinocchio snowglobe. It is nicely done. It's bigger in person than it looks too. It was on eBay auctions for less than the DisneyStore.com site. Not sure if it is still there. I got mine from eBay.

Buzz,
you have some nice snowglobes. Some I haven't seen before.
I collect Snowglobes, I have 52 right now.
I also collect Mickey's, I pick up keychains, little statues, etc.. wherever I go. I have over 100, but right now they are in a huge box, I took them down off the shelf when I re did my room and haven't found a place for them yet.
I also collect Santa's. I have over 1000. They go up at Thanksgiving and come down on New Year. I had my picture in the local paper 4 years ago with an article on my Santas. My boys claim to collect too, but I am the one who sets up the stuff and puts it away. They have 800 Snowmen, 800 Reindeer, and the youngest has 500 Elves. We love Christmas more than Disney.
Of course pins. Not sure how many, I lose count every time I try to count them.
Dust bunnies... who doesn't with all this STUFF I have around here.
Someday I will get photos and post them on here, but I would have to dust first.

Peggie
