Disney Skyliner Refurb 2025

I am a little frustrated that another week has passed with no news. I am trying not to get hopeful about assuming there will be no shutdown in January and they are moving it to Feb or later, but now that I have said it out loud I am sure it will be announced tomorrow and be exactly when I have Caribbean booked 😀

I would hope that if they were intending to schedule the maintenance at a different time they would give more notice. But maybe I am giving Disney too much credit.

I read that the maintenance they did last year was more extensive - they replaced the cables themselves. So maybe this year they don't need to do as much and the closures won't be as impactful (ie. just closing one line at a time, or just for a few days)?

Or the cynic in me thinks that they know they have trouble filling the skyliner resorts when the skyliner is closed, so are waiting until people have locked in their plans.

Unfortunately I think the simplest explanation is that Disney hasn't finalized their dates for some reason. I believe it's the skyliner manufacturer who does the maintenance, not Disney themselves, so you would think they would have everything lined up ages ago.
I hope this isn’t what they are doing. 😐 The old Disney would provide gift cards when things went down for construction after people booked!! That would be so unfair.

CBR looks completely sold out or close too it the last two weeks in January. I would bet it would be the same week it has been being in the past, but it could change. Perhaps there are many quest who have a reservation for each week until the dates come out?

Ya, that's in the past.

Word is out that late January is ‘low crowds’ and great weather. Also a ‘value time’ for tickets and hotels. It’s becoming busier and busier! Maybe Disney sees that all the skyliner hotels are at capacity and is tweaking the timeframe for the refurb…??

Possibly. Who knows. I love late January.

I have recently wanted to change our dates (last week of January) due to what is looking like a crazy busy week instead of "low crowds" as what has been the past norm. We have a split stay. Prices the first half of our stay would be cheaper but not enough to offset the last half of our week. And then we would have to change our flights. Numbers just won't justify us changing so we are stuck with our current reservations and just hope for the best.

Word has definitely caught on. The weather is so much better and people are willing to pull their kids for Disney. Plus the ‘value season’ pricing. I hope Disney is seeing this and decides to keep the skyliner open!!

What dates and what hotels?

We were there during the last week of January this year and I thought it was very crowded. I happened to look at touring plans historical crowd calendar last night and crowds turned out to be pretty much double what was predicted. The weather was unseasonably warm too. Fortunately the skyliner reopened a day or two earlier than expected!

We are booked at CBR during that time frame too. We don't usually go this time of year, so we weren't thinking about the Skyliner being down when we booked. Now I'm afraid we won't be able to change resorts or times without a huge price difference. I would really hope that, regardless of the Doppelmayr schedule, Disney knows how bad this would be to announce this late, especially with hotels so booked.

The Canadian discounts end today, so today's the last day I could potentially change resorts without a big price increase.

Still no news, so I guess I just need to hope any skyliner closure doesn't have a big impact on my trip.

I am still curious as to what is going on though. I would be very surprised if they didn't refurbish the skyliner in January.

Doesn't sound like a pleasant experience for working outside in the sky with thunderstorms, rain, and hot weather.

Yep. The work would likely take twice as long. Anyone who goes in the summer knows how often they have to keep closing pools & boats due to lightning in the area. Imagine having to get workers away from the cable lines & then the time to get going again. They could regularly lose up to half a work day. To say nothing of what would happen if a hurricane is predicted to hit. That could delay the work by days. A 7-10 day project could easily turn into 2-3 weeks.

Could they be skipping 2025? Would that be ok to do such?
doubt it, i am more convinced that they want to announce it when it is closer so that people are locked into their packages at the skyliner resorts.
that and mash it up with a popcorn bucket announcement to lessen the blow of disappointment when people can not change last resorts at the last minute or there is just no availability.

Aha they have never done this for any previous years. So how are you convinced that they are trying to lock in guests of Skyliner resorts? Or based on your reference to a Popcorn bucket are you just trying to be sarcastic?
