Disney Skyliner Refurb 2025

Switching now was probably a good idea. I was thinking of adding a few days onto the front of my stay and booking Pop or another value/moderate. There is very little available and some days had nothing at all. For me the issue is the holiday so not many rooms to choose from.

Maybe there hasn't been an announcement yet because they are planning the refurb for early Feb this year? This is my fear since (Feb 1-9 trip planned).

Where will Disney make the announcement about the maintenance closure? I'm not sure where I should be checking!

It really is bizarre having no announcement yet. I have to wonder if/when maintenance will occur if we have no announcement by end of next week. Dining windows for that period of typical closure open soon.

Maybe Disney is watching to see how many rooms sell out on a given week in January :confused3. I know the last week of January seems to be pretty full. I just can't see why they would close it during a week like that. But, I know nothing, just me speculating.

I would hope that if they were intending to schedule the maintenance at a different time they would give more notice. But maybe I am giving Disney too much credit.

I read that the maintenance they did last year was more extensive - they replaced the cables themselves. So maybe this year they don't need to do as much and the closures won't be as impactful (ie. just closing one line at a time, or just for a few days)?

Or the cynic in me thinks that they know they have trouble filling the skyliner resorts when the skyliner is closed, so are waiting until people have locked in their plans.

Unfortunately I think the simplest explanation is that Disney hasn't finalized their dates for some reason. I believe it's the skyliner manufacturer who does the maintenance, not Disney themselves, so you would think they would have everything lined up ages ago.

I switched resorts. I just can’t risk spending hundreds more on a basic room and not have the Skyliner. I luckily was able to grab a room at All Star Music. The buses are nightmares at Pop when Skyliner is down and I don’t want to risk spending extra for the headache. Good luck all! I hope they announce it soon!!!
One year we went during the refurb. Had previously stayed at POP so made the switch to Music on refurb year. We LOVED Music. I was able to afford the preferred room location for what I had paid at POP and it was wonderful!

Skyliner maintenance is performed by Doppelmayr, not Disney. Doppelmayr decides what, where and when maintenance is needed on any part of the system. Cables are usually shortened, controls, sensors and equipment are replaced during shutdown. There’s no conspiracy, they are not trying to ruin your day. It could be several things holding up exact dates. Equipment, personnel all come together in one spot and time.
Could you imagine if they announced a date and two weeks later figure out a part is delayed in shipping for a week or even a few days and they have to push the dates back? They can replace cables in a snap and if they need to shorten a cable, there is only one person who can make that connection.
It’s a complex system with many moving parts.

Hey all, we were booked for CBR in early Feb and my husband has convinced me to switch back to ASM for space reasons. Skyliner refurb makes it more of a reason that ASM is a safer bet for us.

I just found out we are adding my BIL and his girlfriend to our trip but they have no idea how many days they want to stay/which parks they want to see. Should I go ahead and book them at all stars? Or wait until they figure things out, possibly a few weeks from now? Similar to what other folks are saying on this thread, there is limited hotel availability for our dates and all stars is pretty much the only budget friendly option.

Oh no, really? I figured it would be like regular busses at any other bus only resort. I’ve only stayed at Pop with the skyliner but didn’t mind the busses to AK and HS.

I actually don't know what I should be doing at this point 😂

I want to map out my park days and dining plans. I have a few weeks left until I can make dining reservations, but it will take me a while!

Assuming the skyliner will be open for my whole trip seems a bit too optimistic. Maybe I just make some plans for "skyliner open" days vs. "skyliner closed" days and then figure out which calendar dates for which closer to my reservation window.
