Disney Skyliner Refurb 2025

Aha they have never done this for any previous years. So how are you convinced that they are trying to lock in guests of Skyliner resorts? Or based on your reference to a Popcorn bucket are you just trying to be sarcastic?

Dave
This reasoning wouldn't surprise me at all. I booked room only reservations and I didn't think about package reservations. But ya, they could get those with a package deal then.

When is the deadline with a package for that 3rd week in January as to cancel without penalty?

Same as always 30 days to cancel with no penalty but you can always reschedule or change resort even up to actually showing up at the Front Desk. Disney would not benefit from upsetting many guests by a bad faith effort to delay the announcement of the Annual Skyliner maintenance window.

I am going to vote with previous posters that it is likely related to scheduling with Doppelmayr. The Austrian company is the maintenance contractor for the Skyliner.

i am more convinced that they want to announce it when it is closer so that people are locked into their packages at the skyliner resorts.

You can change resorts within the cancellation period, so no, people aren’t locked into a Skyliner resort.

It’s a conspiracy I tell ya! No notice, they are just going to shut it down one night! They are bringing on line ten more buses in January, no heat with oval tires so they bounce and sway a little. Lightning lane touch points being installed at the bus stations next week to the resorts the SL services. Rumor has it, $20 per person per day. The good news is, if you tell the cm you don’t feel good, they’ll give you your own bus and you can bring your beer and take your shoe off.

I called them and they said nothing they know of 🤷🏼‍♀️ I will be at Pop in 4 days and will ask the skyliner peeps

If Disney hasn’t made an official announcement, CMs aren’t going to give you any information either. First, they’re not allowed to give anything other than official Disney information. Second, the chances are they don’t know any more than you do.

I usually hear what’s going on at work on social media before I hear it at work.

Not quite the same level as the skyliner refurb dates but this comment reminded me...few years ago, I went to a work meeting announcing layoffs and was totally blinded sided. Afterwards, some of my coworkers told me they had suspected for weeks, thanks to social media chatter. You bet I started reading those rumors sites after that!

I gave up on my CBR reservation but am still invested in this saga! I could use a new popcorn bucket.

So just a question, I’m curious, Where do people stay when the SL is down for maintenance and why?
Do they stay in another mod.? Which they may like better and take a bus.
Do they stay at the AllStars, less money and take a bus.
Do they stay deluxe and take a bus to two parks and not four?

I tend to stay at the Dolphin. Can still walk to everything in the Boardwalk area or take a boat to Epcot and HS. Also, far fewer people entering Epcot through the International Gateway entrance.

So in our case, my husband convinced me to switch to a family suite at all stars for the added space and full fridge. Skyliner was the main selling point of CBR for me and if we were going to have to take the bus anyway, I rather have larger room and fridge.

Yup, if I didn't have a small child that eats approximately 62459 snacks/day, and therefore makes having a fridge a top priority, swolphin seems like a safe bet. I made a ridiculous number of charts doing cost comparison between dolphin, swan, boardwalk, bc&yc. There's still some hotel availability for beach and yacht club for my dates and I assume folks aren't booking it as much due to the refurb.

Or possibly because the big pool is closed for YC/BC/BCV.

I haven’t heard anything about the Skyliner being down for refurbishment in January, but I’d recommend keeping an eye on Disney’s site for updates as your trip gets closer. When I stayed at Pop, the Skyliner was super convenient, but if it’s not running, you’ve still got other options like buses and the monorail to get around. If the Skyliner’s a dealbreaker, you could always look into switching to another hotel with easier transportation.
Monorail resorts are much more expensive than skyliner resorts

The only other option to & from a Skyliner resort is a bus. You can’t access the monorail without taking a bus to MK, Epcot or a monorail resort, just like most other resorts. You can’t take the monorail from your Skyliner hotel. So the options are no different from any other value or moderate resort.

Very likely… this doesn’t mean I won’t be asking though 😅. Maybe I will get a chatty CM 🤷🏼‍♀️

I will still be at Pop, skyliner or no skyliner. My park hopping plans and dining reservations will need to be tweaked depending on if it’s open or not.
