Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

Ok this is my first time posting on this thread and I only read the last few pages back so no angry shouting please...

It seems like these should be ready a lot sooner than fall.

But fall is still the projected date?

Can I whisper angrily? ;)

I think that is what a lot of us are thinking and that perhaps they will be running earlier but “Fall” will still be the grand opening and perhaps coincide with opening of Riviera

I know how the internet works :duck:

Sure, I can handle some angry whispers, I'd prefer they happened behind my back though :smooth:

I'm most likely going for a few days towards end of September and was trying to decide if I should book one of these resorts for the novelty.

I have a trip booked for May 11-21 and have tried twice to get insiders to just tell me these won't be open during my trip so I can just let it go. They won't do that. Martin has said that it depends on how the testing goes at this point. There is also a fair bit of finishing work to be done at the stations, so obviously the pace of that will also play into whether these can open earlier or not. I'm trying really hard to not get my hopes up for our trip, but seeing the gondolas run from CBR to DHS is making that harder and harder.

Obviously nothing is guaranteed but I would be surprised if they aren’t open by the end of Sept

We aren't staying anywhere with access. Staying at Boardwalk.

We want to ride, so we can get on at International Gateway and eventually make our way to DHS - do we change at Caribbean Beach?

Sorry for repeat question! :)

Yes, you would get on at IG, stay on through Riviera station, and then get off at CBR. You would then find the line for DHS and get back on for your final leg to your destination.

Thanks!

Since it will be so crowded at DHS for Galaxy's Edge and who knows about getting on the rides, I'm going to count this as a ride for the day. :p

If you want to increase the thrill just a bit, hop on the line to Pop/AoA and enjoy entering the station over the water! I think that will be so neat, I can't wait!

Great idea! We will do that. :) And check out those resorts, never been there.

The speculation when fall was first announced was that it was a delay in the delivery of the gondola cabins. This could still be true since I think there are only about 100 on site and there will likely be around 300 total.

They might also soft opening much sooner and just have the grand opening in Fall.

Closer to 200, counting the ones spotted at CBR + the ones in the construction yard at AoA. It may well be over 200 by now; Magic In the Park saw flatbed trucks leaving the yard, so it appears that deliveries are ongoing.

My personal theory is that the cabins are being held in the construction yard until the north storage yard at CBR is finished.

I hope these are running in mid-August. I'd like to see what they're like. We've generally stayed at the Epcot resorts the last several trips, but we'd be willing to try a few other options once the gondolas are available.
